Am I the only client who sees this hobby as a tertier needs. In a way that I only partake when I have extra fun funds enough to afford a provider who I fancied. When purse is tight or price is too high, I simply go look for free fun or look for other provider within my budget. Same when I budget for vacation. When Four Seasons or first class seat are out of my budget, I go for cheaper option.
As someone who works in service, customer who ask for a discount but expect high quality service in return is an ick. People gotta eat and make a living.

Let's be real: the chemistry is the donation.  No more, no less.  This business is not built on chemistry; it's built on $$$.

That’s fairly typical. I get the “handsome” bit a lot. I suppose I am somewhat handsome; however, I ascribe that to good marketing on the provider’s part.

Google reverse image search also shows he used to advertise as Josh_XXL
There is another thread about him (when he was advertising as Josh_XXL in the forum saying he's not that into kissing.
Another search shows that his X account (3) Media posts by Matt Marais (@MattMaraisBKK) / X
The photos obviously are real and linked to a real person named Matt Marais who is a male erotic photographer / pornographer. But just not sure whether the photos also belong to the same guy behind TommyyBoyXL advertising.

    Hello all,
First off, apologize for this rant, so bear with me please.
When I am thinking about seeing a new masseur, my first place to check around is here to get more info.  However, if there is no posts here, I will reach out to those who posted reviews.  I have found that some reviews are not totally accurate or missing details, so I reach out to the person on RM with a very friendly message.
All I'm trying to do is find out more to see if it's a good match. After all the new "normal" price seems to be $200+   I don't want to waste their time or mine if it's not a good fit (nor my money).  Also we all know here there are some masseurs whose pic is lets say not very accurate
I just got one back that said: "I'm always surprised when people reach out to other people on RM for information. My suggestion is reach out to him and ask him your questions".
I do reach out to the masseur for questions.  I find I often get vague responses to my questions
I also had a masseur reach out to me blasting me for asking questions about him followed by blocking me
I do not understand why doing your homework is a bad thing???    Let's help each other out here !!!!!

For me, it all depends on if they look like their pictures. Face it, this is a very visual business. Between photoshop, age-shaving, size-exaggerating, and apparently height exaggeration,  there are many ways providers deceive us in order to get the booking.
If they end up not looking like their pictures, I don't think you owe them a dime. Pay for their time? Seriously?  They should pay for wasting yours. What if after the session you gave them money that didn't look like the currency you promised? Fair is fair.
If someone's look changes dramatically (many tattoos, significant weight gain or loss, shaved their head) it is their responsibility to update their pictures. An Italian restaurant won't change to a Mexican menu without changing the signage and website.
Providers want us to respect that this is a business for them, so we should respect that and expect that they behave like one as well. The difference is that in this business, the client has no recourse once he hands over the money.

You're more tolerant than i. Glad he ended up becoming a friend of yours and you had a good time with him. But to me personally, someone actively catfishing you is not the same as beer goggles or what the escorts do when they engage with a client they aren't attracted to. I personally can never go through with hookups/meets with guys who use fake/decades old photos because it rewards the behavior of active/purposeful deceit. Being drunk and hooking up with someone you usually wouldn't when sober is still a choice you made on your own seeing them as they were in that moment.
Your judgement of them may be off due to being drunk but it's still your own judgement of an approximation of what they actually look like in person. An escort is doing so as well to an extent because they are being compensated. The client isn't tricking the escort or being misleading about their looks, the client pays partially so that that their looks don't have to be a deciding factor and the escort is agreeing to that deal.
Someone using fake or highly inaccurate photos to get you to a location to engage with them under pre-meditated false pretense is a very very different thing. It would destroy any sense of trust or safety i would need with that person to engage in the encounter with them because to me if they weren't who they say they are than it's that much more likely that their motivations for being there may not be what they said either, which would create the feeling of being in danger. The worst that could happen is not just bad sex. To me, someone who feels the need to deceive in that way is likely to be there to cause me some sort of physical harm. So that's just a situation i couldn't go through with personally.

The only time I’ve ever had to cancel on the same day of the appointment was due to a bike accident. I offered to pay whatever he felt was fair, and even though it was only the second time I’d booked him, he told me not to worry about it. The next time we met, I paid him 1.5 times his rate.
It sounds like you missed the chance to make things right at the time of the cancellation, and he’s clearly no longer interested in working with you. Take it as a learning experience, move on, and find someone else.

I think the mistake you made was not offering a cancellation fee when you had to cancel at the last minute. I have made that my policy. If it’s last minute I pay half the hourly fee. If it’s a day earlier I pay $50 or so. I have never been blocked as a result.

The first step in solving a problem, is recognizing there is one.
You appear to be defining your self worth by how others interact with you.  Have you considered making this a year of self care?
Providers have their own lives and drama - his lack of response may have nothing to do with you.

Move on to bigger and better things.

Sometimes, I see them as magicians and myself as that audience member who volunteers to participate in their magic tricks on stage.  I know it’s all fake, but I’m still amazed and amused by their skillfully staged illusions.
Alternatively, they are award-winning method actors.  They become the characters they play and I am cast as the opposing lead.
I figure the key is to enjoy the magic shows and theatrical performances while they last and return to real life after the paid entertainment ends.

You can always ask.  It’s how you ask that will matter.  Asking someone to shave a beard seems wrong, but a few days scruff isn’t that unreasonable.
