I've found that since retiring, this is a more frequent occurrence, usually once or twice a week.  I suspect that since I'm not thinking about work in my sleep, my thoughts can move to more enjoyable places.

Some members write you off as a chronic complainer but I do genuinely want to see you to grow and succeed. We sympathize with you, especially other providers. I would love to see a positive post from you one day celebrating how much work you’ve got over the past 12 months explaining how making some key changes, and maybe even a move, has helped you succeed.
A lot of clients are inconsiderate jerks and wishy washy, but that’s how the industry works. It can be better in some places compared to others, but we will always have flakes and time wasting behavior to deal with. People will lowball us, question our rates and policies. It’s human nature, and there’s no changing it. Add to that the racism component and it’s even worse. You have more years of experience than I, so you know these things even better than I do. That’s what puzzles me about the repeated posts about clients…being clients.
What we can do to cope and improve is focus on the things we can control. We don’t have to explain or justify our policies. We don’t have to get mad at the client for disagreeing with our boundaries. We don’t have to convince the client we are right or fair. We don’t have to change the client’s mind about anything. They either conform to our policies and rates for the services they want, or they don’t. When they don’t, move on.
I agree with the other comments; it’s best not to engage clients demonstrating a lack of respect for you and your work and how you choose to do business. Establish your boundaries and policies and stick to them, even if it means losing some work. That’s time saved not dealing with bad clients. When there are not enough good clients in your market, move to another one. If you can’t do that, maybe pick up some other work temporarily to help you save up for a move.
We have different views on deposits, but you have your reasons. Whatever your policies, the key is to not make exceptions to them. When you do (infrequently, for some compelling reason), make it clear to the client what it is and why you are making the exception so they don’t have the impression they can expect the same thing every time.
You might consider keeping your rates the same regardless of frequency so people don’t have any illusions about being entitled to a “regular client” rate when they only book you months or years apart. Or establish a hard line policy like they have to book you at least once per week/month/quarter or whatever so they know why they aren’t entitled.
A hot tip about that client 50 mins away: People need firm time commitments otherwise they sit and stew in impatience and uncertainty. Every minute that goes by, the more they think that you aren’t coming, or will come way later than they want or expect you to. The uncertainty is what kills them. When you commit to a time you know you can make “I will arrive by 5pm and text you when I park”. That gives the client the freedom to relax and anticipate your arrival and do other things in the meantime other than worry and second guess.

On a serious note, I am a hardcore window shopper. It’s one of the reasons I loved NYC escort bars back in the day. I like to see the escort in motion and get a clear idea wether we’re a match or not before I hire. I’m sure there are ads I’ve looked at 100’s of times (over the years, not in one week) and never hired the guy. Doesn’t mean I will or won’t hire him in the future. Just that he’s never been the perfect scratch for whatever particular itch I had that night. Hell, there are ads I’ve looked at over and over again just because I thought it was a brilliant and/or funny ad (e.g. @Russ). Although I eventually did hire Russ and certainly would again. He’s even better than the ad.
It doesn’t bother me at all when an escort reaches out. I look at it the same way as a go-go boy coming over and rubbing my thigh. It’s just good business. The dude is trying to make a living. Be polite, and support him if you can.

This might work for a subset of escorts who want to work shorter, hourly frames of time, but if you want to earn career money, I don't know if this is an ideal way to go.
You never put your client on the spot with a focus group:  It ruins what should have been a fun time spent by bringing it back to business.  You can more easily email these kinds of questions later, if necessary.
Guys- at least the men I see- aren't hiring me to be reminded that they're paying for my service.  They want to relax, vacation, enjoy, cut loose and simply have a friend with them who makes it all flow and feel easy.

This has been my mantra for years.  The average investor (and I consider myself to be an average investor) does not have the know-how to pick a company whose stock will outperform the market. I am satisfied with Mutual funds and ETFs that track big indexes like the S&P500 and Russell 1000

In a breathtaking departure from my normal practice I have just made flight and hotel reservations months out from the event (flights considerably cheaper, Inndulge not so much).
I'll be flying in and out of LAX and plan to rent a car to go to Palm Springs, and I've booked Inndulge from Thursday to Tuesday. It's a bit early to be excited but I'm looking forward to another great weekend of friend- and, err, fellowship, and to making new friends. Bring it on!

In this business it’s obviously tricky.
Few in my "real life" know that I hire. And as far as I know, none of the people who know hire themselves.
That’s one thing that makes this board so valuable. You quickly learn who to trust and who has similar tastes to your own. Although it’s not really a "referral" in the classic sense, a positive word form a trusted source here is as good as gold.
After any great hire, I always try to double back and add my 2 cents to any thread I can find here on that provider.
I also do the same with any crappy hires. Lukewarm hires I tend to just write it off to chemistry and move on.
It’s my small contribution to the cumulative community wisdom contained in these pages.
In fact, I’ve even saved myself from a bad repeat hire when I’ve forgotten I even hired someone, only to find my own negative review here…lol

we get our own separate accommodations and pay for those on our own......many stay at Inndulge, fewer stay at Canyon Club, and a few are scattered at other neighboring hotels in the Warm Springs "gayborhood" or at local private homes .......Canyon Club is not in the Warm Springs area, but also attracts a gay male clientele and is lower-priced.....all are "clothing optional", so be ready for that!
the un-hosted Saturday dinner and Monday breakfast are organized and details are included in emails sent to attending forum members closer to the weekend date (watch this space!)......while not utterly mandatory, these two events are very popular and pretty standard to attend....a Sunday afternoon pool party (hosted) is also very popular and attracts the biggest crowd of forum members.......a Friday pre-weekend hosted pool party has also been offered in previous years, but that isn't announced until much closer to the date
at other times, attendees sit around the pool, go on hikes, go to a bar in the one-block long downtown gay-business area (Arenas Street), hook up with others for lunch, go up the tram.......the entire weekend is very casual and very friendly.......

The Annual Palm Springs Weekend was organized by forum member Lucky in 2005 and later organized by forum member Oliver.  It’s a social event were members of the forum meet up for a weekend of camaraderie and fellowship with other forum members.
This is Oliver’s event and not an event sponsored by the Forum, although the moderators graciously have seen fit to pin this message at the top of The Lounge.  This is an event attended by both clients and providers.
The event typically includes three primary scheduled events: a dinner on Saturday, a Sunday afternoon pool gathering, and a Monday morning breakfast.  Additionally, another forum member, DavidSF, in prior years has hosted a pre-pool party on Friday afternoon for those who arrive on Friday. DavidSF generally announces that event a month or so prior.
Another forum member, azdr0710 organizes morning hikes for those who are interested.

A bit of history is in order here. The annual event is held in Palm Springs mainly because Lucky and I live here, and in 2005 Lucky said to me, "Why don't we organize a weekend event and invite people on the Hooboy site to come? We can arrange a dinner at a restaurant on Saturday night, then all go to a show at the Palm Canyon Theater afterwards. Then on Sunday afternoon I will host a party at my house." He made the theater arrangement, and I made the dinner reservation. A handful of people showed up (one of whom, BTW, was TomCal), all of them from California except for Oliver, who was staying here to escape the Midwest winter. It was fun, so we did it again the next year, and more people came. Then Oliver said, "Why don't we have the Sunday party at my place, because I have a pool?" Even more important, Oliver offered to pay for the increasingly large Sunday party. Then in 2009, Daddy finally responded to the invitation, and suddenly escorts started showing up in bigger numbers. After Lucky left the website, Oliver graciously agreed to take over all responsibility for organizing the entire event, with the help of Epigonos, including hosting and paying for the party on Sunday. And like Topsy, the event "has just growed."
There is no paid entertainment, and no charge for admission. Attendees are required to RSVP to Oliver's invitation in order to take part, but they are responsible for making their own arrangements for transportation and lodging. If someone wants to go to the trouble of arranging a similar event in Orlando or anywhere else, more power to them--there is no exclusive copywright on the format. But it does require a host, who is willing to assume the duty of organizing the whole event, and paying for the costs associated with it.

The weekend is about 4 days long. Members of the forum convene in Palm Springs. Initially it was a party thrown by Oliver to have forum members and escorts come together for a dinner and then a fun pool party. Since then, it has expanded to include those things but several other social events Last year there were about 40 forum members and friends there, of which about 15 were escorts. Men being men, what happens in Palm Springs stays in Palm Springs, although certain aspects of it are heavily commented on here in the forum. Generally it is an opportunity to meet fellow forum members whether that is for the first time or a yearly reunion. It is fun. And to quote the inimitable Miss Dolly Parton:
We get a nice quiet crowd, plain as it can be
It's just a piddly squatin' old time country place
    Ain't nothing too high toned
Just lots of good will and maybe one small thrill

Toronto has a storied past to its bathhouse scene. In the early 80's the Toronto vice squad raided a popular mens gay bathhouse on a Saturday night and arrested I think over 80 so called found-ins. There was a provision in the criminal code then for being found in a common bawdy house.
Well their names were published and there was an incredible fallout. One man jumped off his high rise balcony when his name came out in the newspapers.
Another was a friend of mine and he worked for a high ranking Canadian politician. On Monday he walked into his boss's office and told him about his arrest. The man just looked at him and said "Thanks for telling me. Get back to work."
Later that politician's party legalized same sex marriage in Canada. 12 years earlier they had decriminalized same sex relations. The road to equality was a long and hard fought one. And continues today.

But there's nothing dirty going on.

For those of you visiting Palm Springs, I highly recommend a trip to the Desert Premium Outlets about 25 minutes west on the 10.  They have a Frette outlet that brings the price down from “astronomical” to “Macy’s Hotel Collection after their first markdown”, and will ship for free so you don’t need to check a bag at PSP.

And, one of my favorite posts that sum’s it all up is by forum member purplekow, posted February 25, 2019 with a quote from Dolly Parton:
But there's nothing dirty going on.

Below are some excerpts and links to prior events that you may find helpful.
