Referrals from existing clients

So long before I thought about escorting,  I appreciated the value of referrals with my daytime job.    A referral is almost as good as doing business with a client.

When I got into this business,  "escorting by referral"  was a great way to get "immersed"   so to speak and it gives a real positive sense the booking right from the beginning.  I still ask for referrals and love when I'm told  "a client referred me".     For the providers,   how often are you referred,  do you actively seek referrals?  I realize it needs to be approached carefully.     For clients,   do you like when you get "a referral"  to a provider based on a positive experience by others?

In this business it’s obviously tricky.

Few in my "real life" know that I hire. And as far as I know, none of the people who know hire themselves.

That’s one thing that makes this board so valuable. You quickly learn who to trust and who has similar tastes to your own. Although it’s not really a "referral" in the classic sense, a positive word form a trusted source here is as good as gold.

After any great hire, I always try to double back and add my 2 cents to any thread I can find here on that provider.
I also do the same with any crappy hires. Lukewarm hires I tend to just write it off to chemistry and move on.
It’s my small contribution to the cumulative community wisdom contained in these pages.
In fact, I’ve even saved myself from a bad repeat hire when I’ve forgotten I even hired someone, only to find my own negative review here…lol

Only a couple of people in my life know that I hire.  One of them also hires but has different tastes in men than I do.  The other one usually recommends guys he knows personally whom he wants to help, and even after I tell him they aren't my type he'll still bring them up to me when we get together.  I find that annoying; it's the equivalent of junk mail or spam email except it's in person.  How many times do I have to say that I don't find someone appealing before I'm heard?

What your asking does happen from time ( I speak from years of experience ) to time but not nearly as much as us providers referring other providers to clients who ask specifically about another provider that we might know. Me and a retried pal in Las Vegas shared a very large list of folks that we had in common based on his or my referral. Like it was mentioned in some previous comments, most clients don't share this aspect of their lives with loads of people. A confident provider won't lose a client by recommending another provider. If you're looking for client to client referral, this forum might be your answer; here folks that hire are more apt to share with other folks that hire " things you do  in a room where you do what you don't confess" 😎 - That was Gordon Lightfoot not me 😂

Most of my referrals come from other masseurs or escorts (and I return the favour). If I can’t see a client and he asks if I know anyone else then I always suggest guys I know who I think would be suitable for the client. They do same for me. It’s more frequent than referrals from clients because I think most clients are discreet about hiring.

I once tried to follow a recommendation,  but I found the provider to be an egotistical fast talker trying to get more money. Pass.

Everyone has their own tastes...and unnegotiatable dislikes. What one person puts up with, another won't.

Maybe he thought he had the upper hand because he was recommended to you or someone told him you were a big spender.

Most gay men in NYC with some spendable money hire.

I agree plenty on the rest of your post!

@ICTJOCK This is forum for most of us is a way to get referrals and also warnings, besides being exposed to what others like to do and who do they hire.

I am a confident provider. I refer clients without hesitation to other masseurs and escorts in my network that I know will suit their needs. The favor comes back to me from other providers only a small fraction of the time, but I don’t care.

I don’t view offering referrals as giving away business. While it supports other guys’ businesses and fosters goodwill, I refer when I can’t serve the client within their schedule limitations, or one of us is moving away, or for whatever reason I can tell I am not the best fit for the client’s needs.

It’s good business to refer clients to others because I know I am offering a valuable service to my clients. They understand my value even when they are not paying me. That’s what keeps them coming back. Also, there’s the added benefit of clients seeing what else is out there and often realizing they enjoy a better value when they hire me, compared to experiences with others.

Clients also refer me to their friends. In this business, as others have noted, clients discuss their hiring a lot less frequently with their contacts, often not at all. If that weren’t the case, I am positive I would have many more referral clients. The few that do refer are worth their weight in gold. I offer generous referral discounts for this reason. Good people tend to know good people.

If not by direct referral, client reviews matter a lot too. Many clients hire me because they trust the feedback from other clients. The best part is all of my reviews are genuine and unsolicited. I don’t ask for them or incentivize clients in any way to write them.

I have an out-of-state escorting client who gets off on flying providers in for the day.  Early morning flight in.  Mid morning hotel session.  Wait a couple hours.  He returns for an afternoon session.  You fly home.  He's been super loyal in keeping me in rotation, but he's *always* asking me to send new guys.  It's a terrific arrangement, because he always sends me a finder's fee for the referral.

But my question here is: what's a sensible ask in terms of finder's fees?

Honestly I was suspicious that he was all talk about that aspect of it.  But when i followed up, "Hey how did you like my friend?" he was only to happy to send me the funds.  Which led me to ask: did I undersell??

That’s a horrible way for a seller to determine the price of any product.

Was the buyer happy?…If yes, then I must have charged too little.

Super bad business model…..Business 101.

$200 for a referral fee

Hey, that’s good business. If the client is happy and you’re happy, that’s success! Sounds like a good arrangement.

You’re providing value to the client by leveraging your contacts, you’re providing value to your contacts by referring them business, and you’re providing value to yourself by inspiring loyalty and appreciation from your client. Win-win-win. Not all benefits are immediate or tangible. Loyalty is worth far more than a $200 finder’s fee. That’s just a bonus, and I think it’s fair. Plus, it’s ongoing! Good for you, @ModelScort!
