I got a call a couple of nights ago from a provider. He said RentMen is limiting providers to 500 characters in their write-ups about themselves. Which I found odd and limiting -- I told him he might be misunderstanding. But his was not. RentMen told him that the site had always meant to do that but had a bug in that field that allowed more than that. Now it's 500 characters max. So I helped him cut his ad in about half without losing too much in the way of key info he wanted to provide. And then I looked at a string of ads. The text is indeed more limited now. Anytime anyone updates their info, the 500-limit goes into place.

Perhaps I've changed, but I tend to agree. Prices are up, service is down -- with NOTABLE exceptions, thank goodness, on the service end.

My usual procedure: First, I make the Initial booking. Let's say it's Wednesday night and the appointment is for 9 p.m. Friday night two days later at my place. I tell the provider that I'll reconfirm around noon Friday and then again one hour ahead. I do that for two reasons. One: If he's been burned by no-shows, this might make him feel better about my legitimacy. Reconfirmation usually involves one text: ("Hey, I'm still on for 9 tonight at my place if you are. Looking forward to meeting up."). Two: I've been burned by no shows or very late providers. Checking in one hour ahead usually helps in finding out if he's got it in gear to be on time or not. If I book same day: Let's say I book at noon Friday for 9 p.m. that night. I'll reconfirm around 5 to 6 p.m. and then again at 8 p.m. If I book at say 4 p.m. Friday for 9 p.m. Friday, I'll just reconfirm the hour before. I'll just reconfirm one time if it's seven hours or less.

Same here. I found him physically attractive, but something about the poses in the pics (almost always with sunglasses, almost no close ups) seemed off to me too. I also never even contacted him. I'd say that's actually about 50% of all ads where I'll just never make the initial contact because something is off despite an initial attraction. It really amazes me how unbelievably bad so many of the ads are.

I've done it twice, with my face covered both times. Because my face was covered, I gave my OK for the first provider to post two videos of us on Pornhub. Which he did. And while they weren't blockbusters, they were something of a mid-level hit. This was about 10 years ago. Then that purge came a few years ago, and they were both gone. It looks like a copy of them might be on a site that I'm not willing to click on for fear of a computer virus. Since then, I've recorded one other time, again in a mask. I told the provider I was fine with him putting the videos on his RM page, but he never did.

He's in that category of provider who just doesn't post enough pictures and text to really get a feel for him.

My first question is always about rates. Because we can't see them. So if the auto reply indicates the provider wants me to propose a possible time and date and place before I even can even ask about his rates and what I might can expect, I simply don't follow up on text or on RM. It sucks we need to ask rates, but we do. If auto reply includes his rates or otherwise indicates it's OK to make an inquiry about that, then I'll contact by text.

I don't have a recommendation, but yeah, that is kind of hot.

I'm not young nor hot. And as far as I know, I haven't received up-front discounts. But I have had longer-term, regular providers who charge me less than they did other new clients. Usually it's been a situation of me hiring them when they first started out or either I've been hiring him for years and he hasn't raised his rates. I've had a couple of them flat-out tell me I'm easy to get along with and honest. So I might get charged $250 an hour vs. $300 or something like that.

The bottom line is the bottom line. And mine is provider rate increases have been far outstripping my income increases. In fact, I make less now than 10 years ago, not more. The math is simply starting to collapse. I'm probably looking at a big readjustment of my entertainment budget this year and will simply have to indulge my passions far less frequently or renew my efforts at making connections where no money changes hands. This hobby is a luxury I am increasingly unable to afford, especially at the frequency I've previously enjoyed.

I wish I could help you out more, but I tend to stay away from the ones who look like the most hard-core. If 1 is ultra BFE and tender and 10 is total rough trade, I'm more in 4 to 6 range. Maybe a 7 experience once I know someone. That's about as rough as I like to get. But if spot a profile that meets the agenda, I'll post. Mine usually do, and it's funny because it's OK with me if they don't. In fact, sometimes I wish they'd hold off. I've had my fair share of 40-minute one-hour appointments .
