I rarely hire anymore outside of one regular guy.  The past few inquiries I have made have been, 1500, 1K and 800 for an hour. One wanted 1k with a two hour minimum but the first hour was conversation only then possibly play in the second hour. I completely respect a providers choice on what they set, but it’s insane now. The golden era is gone.  Honestly I really only hire when I go to Europe and use Romeo.  I find there to be a much more realistic mentality overall and a far more local base of choices.  

Perhaps I've changed, but I tend to agree. Prices are up, service is down -- with NOTABLE exceptions, thank goodness, on the service end. 

Same here. I found him physically attractive, but something about the poses in the pics (almost always with sunglasses, almost no close ups) seemed off to me too. I also never even contacted him.

I'd say that's actually about 50% of all ads where I'll just never make the initial contact because something is off despite an initial attraction. 

It really amazes me how unbelievably bad so many of the ads are. 

Well, there you go. I think he's getting all the sex he wants for free anyway. The problem with the $1,000 question. That tends to make you want to name celebs and such. And of course, they don't need a thousand bucks.

Which I found odd and limiting -- I told him he might be misunderstanding. But his was not. RentMen told him that the site had always meant to do that but had a bug in that field that allowed more than that. Now it's 500 characters max. 

So I helped him cut his ad in about half without losing too much in the way of key info he wanted to provide. And then I looked at a string of ads. The text is indeed more limited now. Anytime anyone updates their info, the 500-limit goes into place.

My usual procedure:

First, I make the Initial booking. Let's say it's Wednesday night and the appointment is for 9 p.m. Friday night two days later at my place. I tell the provider that I'll reconfirm around noon Friday and then again one hour ahead. I do that for two reasons. One: If he's been burned by no-shows, this might make him feel better about my legitimacy. Reconfirmation usually involves one text: ("Hey, I'm still on for 9 tonight at my place if you are. Looking forward to meeting up."). Two: I've been burned by no shows or very late providers. Checking in one hour ahead usually helps in finding out if he's got it in gear to be on time or not.

If I book same day: Let's say I book at noon Friday for 9 p.m. that night. I'll reconfirm around 5 to 6 p.m. and then again at 8 p.m. 

If I book at say 4 p.m. Friday for 9 p.m. Friday, I'll just reconfirm the hour before. I'll just reconfirm one time if it's seven hours or less.

When I was in Europe (the continent) I noticed men for hire were mostly from war-torn Eastern countries.  This supports my theory that it is not only the desire to leave poverty, but also having the means to be able to do so.  South Americans travel to where it's cheapest for them to get to.  Same with men from the Eastern hemisphere.  We don't see too many escorts from the interior of Africa; not because there is no poverty, but the men are so poor they have no means to leave.

Very interesting data. Thanks for providing it. I was curious so I ran it again and now Denver has 21/89 Latin guys. So a little higher now at 23%. Another data point would be to look at guys who speak Spanish. That's actually a bit higher than "Latin" in Denver at 24/89 or 27%. A few "Latin" guys drop off and a couple more guys come up. Latin is somewhat nebulous term. One guy who comes up as a Spanish speaker but not Latin is KevinCol who puts his ethnicity as black but also says he is Colombian. Probably would be described as afro-Latino to me and probably most people. Just might be missing a few "Latin" guys based excluslively on the Latin tag on RM.
Also generally interesting that the two highest Latin population cities have the lowest number of Latin escorts. Maybe people are more interested in what isn't common?

I was browsing ads in a city that has a low percentage of latin people and spotted a relatively high number of latin men one evening this fall.  So, I looked across RentMen and captured some numbers and compared that to US Census Data for those same cities.  
 

37.8% of statistics are made up on the spot.  It's probably the same with reviews.

I've done it twice, with my face covered both times. Because my face was covered, I gave my OK for the first provider to post two videos of us on Pornhub. Which he did. And while they weren't blockbusters, they were something of a mid-level hit. This was about 10 years ago. Then that purge came a few years ago, and they were both gone. It looks like a copy of them might be on a site that I'm not willing to click on for fear of a computer virus. 

Since then, I've recorded one other time, again in a mask. I told the provider I was fine with him putting the videos on his RM page, but he never did. 

He's in that category of provider who just doesn't post enough pictures and text to really get a feel for him.

My first question is always about rates. Because we can't see them.

So if the auto reply  indicates the provider wants me to propose a possible time and date and place before I even can even ask about his rates and what I might can expect, I simply don't follow up on text or on RM. 

It sucks we need to ask rates, but we do. If auto reply includes his rates or otherwise indicates it's OK to make an inquiry about that, then I'll contact by text.
 

I'm not young nor hot. And as far as I know, I haven't received up-front discounts. But I have had longer-term, regular providers who charge me less than they did other new clients. 

Usually it's been a situation of me hiring them when they first started out or either I've been hiring him for years and he hasn't raised his rates.

I've had a couple of them flat-out tell me I'm easy to get along with and honest. So I might get charged $250 an hour vs. $300 or something like that. 

I'm not young nor hot. And as far as I know, I haven't received up-front discounts. But I have had longer-term, regular providers who charge me less than they did other new clients. 

Usually it's been a situation of me hiring them when they first started out or either I've been hiring him for years and he hasn't raised his rates.

I'm probably looking at a big readjustment of my entertainment budget this year and will simply have to indulge my passions far less frequently or renew my efforts at making connections where no money changes hands. This hobby is a luxury I am increasingly unable to afford, especially at the frequency I've previously enjoyed. 

My response depends on multiple factors….
1) How far off the photos are:
In general, I’ll forgive 5-10 lbs and 3-5 years.
Beyond that you risk having the door shut in your face.
2) How horny I am:
Obviously, the hornier I am the more forgiving I am.
3) What town I’m in:
 NYC or London? Too many fish. Bye!
Boise? What choice do I have? You could look like my Uncle Phil and I’d probably still fuck you.
