Don't Frette

It is funny how one can be unfamiliar with something and suddenly it is everywhere.  Frette linens was unknown to me three days ago and then it was posted here by a client who went to an escorts home and enjoyed the Frette sheets.  Then in was a newspaper article and a crossword puzzle and then on Tv program  that is on in the middle of the night and exhibits apartments and houses around NYC.

So for those in the know. Do Frette linens make a difference in any bed bound activities?  I went to their web site and saw a comforter for more than $4000.00 and was thinking that the comforter ought to give all kinds of comfort for that much money.

I have spent $500 for a set of bed linens that were 1400 thread count and they were soft and cool and wore very well.  That one time indulgence will not be made again but I am curious as if there is a big difference and I would like to hear how the other half lives, sleeps and fucks on those sheets and beddings.  Carefully one would hope.  But if you can spend that much on sheets, I guess you spend that much on getting them replaced or cleaned.

I also had never heard of Frette. Looked it up and the pictures look like regular sheets, but the description of them is pretty gushing. Always with an uppercase 'F', I'm wondering if Frette is a company name or just a style of manufacture.

A company name.

Great products.  They have a “hotel line” sold to top hotels.  Great quality at a reduced price.  The wife of a friend was a rep for that line and I bought my sheets through her.

Highly recommended🥇🏆

Frette is a company / brand.  Basically the Prada of bedding.

I love discussing sheets and thread count.  I'm a weirdo.

Frette is good, but it's nowhere near worth what they charge.  For much less money, you can get a long-staple cotton sheet set that feels amazing and lasts a long, long time.  Sferra Giza 45 are one example.

At home, I only use white percale-blend sheets.  They sleep cooler, are crisp and can be bleached.  My personal favorite brands are Brooklinen and LL Bean.

The thread count thing is a little wishy-washy, as most brands who say they're 1000+ aren't actually, but just doubling/splitting their threads and getting to the number that way.  A lot of times, the extreme high thread ends up feeling worse and wearing much more quickly.

@purplekow Doc, my mother told me YEARS ago to never go cheap on bedding and shoes 🤓 Made perfect sense for the obvious reasons ( take care of your feet 👣 and your knees ) and my bed... well it's taken care of my back and in the most comfortable fashion I know... from the mattress, pillows and yes the Frette  bedding ( most actually mispronounce it lol ) The Ritz Carlton Frette collection is worth every single penny )

My 2 cents 🤓

Much appreciate the "brand"  discussion.   It you had to choose,  which sheet brand for percale feels the best,  is most durable and the best value for the money  (not necessarily the least expensive).    Certainly curious here.

Y'all don't even try to make it hard for me:

Blanche: And Daddy, this is Dorothy.
Dorothy: I'm sorry. I hope I didn't offend you.
Big Daddy: No harm done, darling. Now, I want you to promise me you won't fret none.
Dorothy: Well, I would, except I'm not exactly sure what "fret none" is.

What? Am I chopped liver?? 😂😂😂 You knew Doc, you just forgot. I sent you a link to them last year when we were having a chat 💬 about my bed and bedding 😂

And for whatever it's worth the "E" on the end of  Frette isn't silent 😜

For percale, it's either LL Bean- which gets top reviews from Wirecutter and CR- or Brooklinen.  I have sets from both, they've lasted years and have stood up handily to silicone/oil-based lube, hot water and bleach cycles.  No loose threading, no thinning, still as crisp as when I bought them.

I don't tend to spend heavy on the sheeting as much as I spend on the mattress underneath.

I love the sheets at The Wynn: https://www.wynnathome.com/collections/wynn-resort-bedding

Not cheap, but not crazy, crazy.

I also love the sheets at the Adlon in Berlin, but getting them custom made to fit an American bed….was crazy, crazy.

Funny story. I had a really fun time fucking a young man in Vegas at the Wynn. Afterwards we were making small talk and I mentioned there was a straight man back home whom I was desperately trying to fuck. He replied, "you need to get better sheets. Make him feel special. I let you fuck me tonight because I wanted to sleep in these sheets."

PS it worked.

For those of you visiting Palm Springs, I highly recommend a trip to the Desert Premium Outlets about 25 minutes west on the 10.  They have a Frette outlet that brings the price down from “astronomical” to “Macy’s Hotel Collection after their first markdown”, and will ship for free so you don’t need to check a bag at PSP.
