Tattoos are for life… but names aren’t.

A Swedish mom getting a tattoo of her son’s name came up with a quick fix when the artist made a glaring mistake – she just changed her toddler’s moniker.

Johanna Giselhäll Sandström recently told local newspaper Blekinge Läns Tidning her “heart stopped” and she “thought [she] was going to faint,” when she saw the ink on her arm had an extra letter and read Kelvin — instead of Kevin, The Local Sweden reported.

The 30-year-old mom wanted to honor her children – Nova and Kevin – with a tat three years ago and when the artist didn’t ask about the spelling, she didn’t give it any more thought, she said.

Shortly after, she noticed the glaring mistake and went back to the shop, only to have the artist laugh and say there was nothing he could do except issue a refund.

Sandström balked at the idea of going through the painful and expensive tattoo removal process and thought legally changing her then-2-year-old’s name would be simpler.

The parents have grown to love their son’s “unique” name and the boy – who is 5 now – has taken to it too, Sandström said.

“I had never heard the name ‘Kelvin’ before. There isn’t anyone who names their kid Kelvin. So when I thought more about it, I realized that no one else has this name. It became unique. Now we think it is better than Kevin,” Sandström said.

The couple had just welcomed their third child, a little girl named Freya, and Sandström wants to go under the needle again to add her name.

This time, she’ll be more watchful.

“I’m going to write it down on a piece of paper and check it over 10,000 times,” she joked.

There will be some of us who will think the parents were Trekkies.

I tend to think tattoos detract and I'm turned off by sleeves etc. But at least a lot of the time I can see why they did it even if I happen to think they look better without it.

What I don't understand is grown ass men getting a bunch of stars that look like a first-grade teacher took her stamp and randomly applied it to their torso. Does it make them feel like Wonder Woman or something?

Really speaking, the people getting tattoos at their back or anywhere don't even look into it daily! There are other ways to keep near and dear ones in memory! For many others it is just to seek attention of others! Few do it due to mass psychology and peer pressure. As we age tattoos smear due to skin wrinkling and at that point tatoo looks horrible! Also, skin is not like white board for drawing!

Step away from the exclamation-point key. Step away from the exclamation-point key.

Did you hear that? It’s the sound of you missing my point ENTIRELY.

Nope. People sometimes (really oftentimes) look back on what they did when they were younger and “those old folks had a point” or simply change their tastes. I HATED classic rock (or really what was then currently on the radio) growing up. I like a lot of now. But if I liked a tattoo, and now don’t, OOOPS! It’s forever. Oh well.

Let’s look at another way. 98% of people over 30 look back at pictures of themselves from say age 14-30 or ten years or more earlier than their current age and wonder how they ever could have worn those clothes or had that haircut.

Well, this “Tattoo Thing” just attacked another beautiful body - Sean Cody’s Joey. What a tragedy to despoil such a masterpiece of male anatomy! So first it was Noel, now Joey...I know, I know; it’s their bodies, but that ink is really forever, and in my humble opinion doesn’t add anything.

Tattoos are part of the person. You either like the person or not. Some escorts took at them as art. Me I can take tattoos or leave them. There are much more importent things I consider when hiring. Does the escort represent him self in his ad? Will he provide the service as advertised. And most important his personality. I am currently seeing an unadvertised porn star. He has many tattoos, more than I would like. He treats me fabiously and we connect very well. What more can I ask for. I only wished I had met him when I was his age. I am a realist.

THIS!

Hugs,

Greg

Tattoo police abound on the forum!

Now that is a fact, You can walk into the Gap and be treated like crap then walk into hot topic and meet the nicest people. It has nothing to do with personality these days. I think the thread is more a personal taste issue based on the aesthetics. I have different levels to my opinion on tattoos which are completely different based on gender. I think tribal arm bands were kind of sexy but complete sleeves not so much. I really hate unprofessional looking tattoos if you're going to get one it should be a work of art not look like you got tagged by a gang. But hey it's your body do what you want.

I have one tattoo now. It means a lot to me. I will probably get another while in Vegas and that will will also mean a lot too. It'll remind me of the struggles and remind me how strong I really am when I forget. Hire me or not I don't give a fuck. My ink. My story. Be apart of it or move the fuck on.

Hugs,

Greg

When a muscle hunk with his big arm slathered in Vaseline covering a new tattoo walked into an elevator at the Paris Hotel in Vagas, I realized that the old saying “What happens in Vagas stays in Vagas” may not always be true.

DEAR ABBY: My daughter recently celebrated her 20th birthday. She's a good kid with a decent job who happens to like tattoos.

For her birthday, my in-laws sent her a birthday card. Usually their card includes a gift card, check or cash. This year, there was no gift but a note stating that they were not sending money as they felt she would use it toward more tattoos.

I understand their beliefs may be different, but their approach to the situation was not nice. When she read their note, my daughter broke down and cried. My question is: Should I ignore their rudeness and ignorance, or should I (or my husband) call them and stick up for our daughter? — TRYING TO BE NONJUDGMENTAL

DEAR TRYING: I don't think what happened should be ignored. What your in-laws did was uncalled for, and the person who should tell them that is your daughter because she's an adult. If they were really concerned that she would spend their gift money on a tattoo, they could have sent her a tangible gift — an item of clothing or a gift card from a specific retailer. Shame on them.
