If 300-400 becomes the new norm, it will save me a whole bunch of money. I simply won't hire any more, period! On 2 or 3 occasions I have "splurged" to the 300 level for an hour which is crazy for me personally because that's the overnight rate for a few of my long term hidden gems. While those experiences were not terrible, they surely were not ever 2 or 3 times as good as the normal rate people I have hired.

For those of you that want to support that level, go for it. I don't support it. I don't like it. And I don't think it's good for the market as a whole. I can definitely understand why some of you would want it there and would benefit for making others believe that that is where it should be or is heading.

Good for you to sticking to what is comfortable for you and not going crazy to the point it hurt the pocket book. The important thing to remember is do what feels right and comfortable for yourself.

Greg

Well, not to brag (too much), I am seeing one of my favorite, favorite Prague boys tomorrow for 2 hours. The rate? A whopping 138 US dollars.... :) :) :)

but the cost of living in prague is small compared to most major us cities

we're comparing apples and the entire apple orchard :)

I used to get emails regularly from some escorts back in the early 2000s, one of them being Talvin Demachio. He did some porn, but did it mostly as a promotional tool and wasn't a huge fan of doing porn scenes. He did escorting full time, and did traveling tours around the world. The majority of the time his rate was $300 an hour and he never had a problem with clientele. He eventually raised it to either 325 or 350 an hour a few years before he retired and he never lost clients for it.

I always believed he charged that rate because of the amount of experience he had as an escort as well as his popularity as a pornstar. And seeing most pornstars will charge more if they've done a few scenes before. Does that make them necessarily better than your local escort who will only charge 200-250 an hour? No not all the time. You're paying more for the appeal of having a session with a pornstar than anything else. When it cums to Kurtis, I wouldn't mind paying the 300 an hour rate! ;)

I hate to admit this, but i feel 300 plus is too much for me. The guys i usually see are more like 200-250 that I've met a few years ago and who are ok with the "grandfathered" rate. One guy i've been seeing used to charge 200 and now he is on rentmen for 350. I feel for 350, i should be able to buy a nice pair of ferragamos (and those are now 500!). I used to pay for a nice pair of ferragamos for 250 many years ago. I guess it's inflation...

Ya... A sign of the times~ With all of those homes selling, rents tripling due to decreased rental availability, cost of ads/advertising rising, phones and phone services more expensive...

General cost of living goes up~

Everything around us increases in price... If wages don't increase along with it, poverty results~?

Hopefully, while prices increase, higher wages are reflected in those services~

Escorting isn't prostutution or human trafficking~ Themore prominent Escorts of the day strive to develop a new sensibility in our society that demonstrates Escorting as a Needs provisional service career... It's a career and these individuals are exceptionally skilled in many numbers of services... some guide adventures, teach, advocate, counsel, offer expertise as sommelier, medical advocate and advisor, legal representative, landscapers, artists, confidant and companion... Non sexual attributes that provide for others in a personal and intimate way, not just as sexual "bed intimates" but Human Needs Intimates~

Escorts provide for all kinds of Human Need~

Believe it or not, Escorts have saved lives and that's worth something~

That's where Reviews can come in handy~ I know they take time and effort... Reviews provided by Clients are important, however, to assure that the services provided by an Escort reflect the wages~ ...not unrealistically through abusively excessive expectations or demands but, in step with the economy and as a means of affirming the quality of service an Escort provides~

It should never be used to drive down their rates but, rather maintain an honest standard of provision~

What is generally not seen in the world of economy is prices decreasing over time...

It's only natural that as Escort's various overhead expenses increase, (ad, travel, communication costs, clothing, housing and rent, etc), their rates will increase~

It's not just the Escorts rates that are increasing... It's everything~

Ugh~ where is the union when you need it~?

Geez~ If he reads your response on this thread what would he think~? Just wondering~

Wasn't this a common theme of Charles Dickens writings~? I'm having flashbacks of Nicholas Nicklebee~

All well said.

I got burned recently by hiring a top-price companion despite a dearth of positive reviews - I let my curiosity get the best of me. It was the most bizarre hire I've ever had and I regret it. At the same time, I've visited guys who ask half his rate and been happy as a clam (and a repeat client).

Even I f Congress cannot agree on how to manage the Minimum Hourly Wage, it's more likely they would address Maximum Hourly Outcall, as (regardless of orientation) I imagine the EXTRA discretion one pays for in DC comes at a steeper price...

Personally I do not hire frequently, but I window shop all the time, and have seen the rates increase along with everything else in SoCal. My tastes in men don't always overlap the demographic of the top-dollar pros, so I have never paid the highest amount in the market. Only once did I feel "meh" - the others have always been worth it, or more. When it gets too pricey, which may or may not preced my own 'too fuckin' old' cut-off, I'll have nice memories (Unless those vanish along with the ability to work a remote...who knows?)

I very rarely hire if there's no reviews. If they're asking $250 or more, they better have a ton of amazing reviews OR look incredible and have at least a few decent reviews.

Add $50 to that figure if you're in a major metropolis with a high cost of living.

Also, I'll second everything said about lower rates for multi-hour appointments. I usually hire a guy for 2 hours for our first meeting anyway. It's long enough for us to chat and get comfortable before we fuck, but not so long that I regret it if it doesn't really click.

The collateral "damage" is that many local new guys think 300 is the norm, so that's what they charge. They have no reviews, barely a description in the ad, and think it's ok. I pass on them all the time, and often think "if there rate were more reasonable I would have tried to see if I can find those hidden gems"....So I admire Mr Jawjateck here, whose blog is filled with those hires that work for him. Sigh.....

The first hire is always a crap shoot. I did a $250 that was pretty disappointing which, oddly enough, is what convinced me to go the extra $50 for someone I was really, really interested in. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in a years. He is absolute top shelf and worth every dollar. If he raised his rate, I would almost certainly pay it. (You know who you are, so if your are reading this, don't get any ideas. :);))

I know that some of you will think that is foolish, but it's not really a financial hardship so why wouldn't I?
