+ purplekow Posted Monday at 10:39 PM Posted Monday at 10:39 PM While socially we all are game players to a greater or lesser extent, I am referring to actual games. I enjoy RPG and puzzle games such as Connections and Wordle on a daily basis. I also enjoy card games, everything from old maid to canasta, and board, everything from chutes and ladders to Go. I have been searching out a group for some type of organized regular game encounter. So far no luck, but I have a lead on a group that I am following up, but it seems Agricola is their game of choice and I was unfamiliar with it until reading a synopsis of it. Are there other game players here. If so, what are your favorites.
BigK Posted Monday at 11:41 PM Posted Monday at 11:41 PM Bridge. I think it’s the greatest card game. You need four people. You choose a partner, and play against the opposing couple I.e. 2 people. + purplekow, + Charlie, Becket and 1 other 4
Nue2thegame Posted Monday at 11:50 PM Posted Monday at 11:50 PM I play games and regularly enjoy several of those that you listed. You might also like: https://worldle.teuteuf.fr/ a geography game, not to be confused with Wordle. I play both most days. + purplekow 1

+ jimbosf Posted Tuesday at 01:46 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:46 AM If you are looking for a group, you might try the senior center. I think in Palm Springs it is the Mizell Center, if I am not mistaken. When I moved from Bay Area to Denver a couple of years ago, I joined the local senior center as a way to meet people and stay active. We do bus trips, have groups that enjoy going out to eat for lunch or dinner together, and many different groups that play games. The center I attend offers canasta, bridge, pinnacle, mahjong, scrabble, puzzles...the list goes on and on. Just a thought... thomas and + Vegas_Millennial 2

Considering today is Monday, perhaps not. No, it looks like Thirty Thursday is an ad for another game. Hit “dismiss” and Worldle will appear under it. It will show you a country and you have to guess which country it is. After each guess it will tell you how far and which direction the correct country is. You get 6 guesses. It helps to have access to an interactive map. Different country each day.

I got the first one on the sixth guess. Once I noted it was in km not miles, I was able to circle in. That there were islands off the coast helped. It was fun. Nue2thegame 1
Aamir Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:54 AM I love board games and would love to get a dozen providers and clients together to play Blood on the Clock tower.

+ m_writer Posted Tuesday at 05:31 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:31 AM Yep, Dungeons and Dragons. I meet a group every other Saturday where we bring snacks and goodies, play for 5-6 hours straight on our current campaign, and order pizza for dinner. Our current campaign has been going on for more than two years, but it's the community and camaraderie that keep it enjoyable, much more than the story (though it's a fun story too). + Vegas_Millennial 1
TonyDown Posted Tuesday at 05:45 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:45 AM My family played a game called Dictionary. Whoever turn it is chooses an obscure word from the dictionary, and writes down the definition. Everyone else makes up a fake definition, writes on a piece of paper. All definitions are read aloud by who's turn it is. Then each player chooses the definition they believe to be the actual definition. It can be fun. Bridge was huge in my mom's day. I used to belong to a Trivial Pursuit club. That was fun. + azdr0710, Nue2thegame and + Pensant 3

+ poolboy48220 Posted Tuesday at 02:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:08 PM in my 20's, Cosmic Encounter was a favorite of my friends. I am semi-banned from playing Trivial Pursuit with friends because my mind is filled with trivial facts.

On weekend nights after a boozy dinner we and our weekend guests would play a game called Balderdash which is a bit like Dictionary, the game you described. A player would draw a card with an obscure term on it and the others would try to guess the meaning by writing it down on a piece of paper which the person who drew the card would read out. The closest was the winner. I’ll never forget the funniest answer given by one of the cutest guys in our group to the term “mushfaker” . + Cash4Trash Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I've played bridge for most of my life. Play mostly online now at BridgeBase.com
+ Charlie Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I think Bridge is mostly a game played by senior citizens. I was taught the game by my partner's grandmother many years ago. When I moved into a senior community, I was immediately invited to join the group that plays Bridge at the lodge once a week, and they are always looking for new members, even from people who don't live here. My brother-in-law lives in a retirement community in Texas where he is in charge of an enormous Bridge group (12 tables). Another game I was taught by friends was Rummikub, and there is a group here that plays that every week at the home of a male couple, but I often played it with one of my housebound neighbors after I taught him how to play (it can be played by only two people). When I was growing up, the card game that was popular was Canasta, but I don't know of anyone who plays it now, and I have long since forgotten how to play it.
Simon Suraci Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago SETTLERS OF CATAN …and it’s campaign variations. My favorite: basic Cities and Knights.
