Murdered Detroit neurosurgeon was in relationship with male killer.

It says "intimate relationship," but later in the article it's stated that the doctor was a client of the alleged killer.  Not saying that precludes having genuine intimacy, but just because someone has sex with someone else doesn't mean there is a "relationship" in the sense that most people use that term.

I don't know what the doctor saw in this guy that made him the best choice in available escorts in the area.  Are there really that few escorts in that area?  The photos online pretty much reveal the kind of person this person apparently is (for those who haven't read the linked article yet, not long after killing the doctor he got involved in a road rage incident where he punched someone who ultimately died, and at the time of the doctor's death he apparently was already a convicted felon).

I've been following this story since it happened. I'm surprised and relieved that charges have been filed. It was looking like a cold case for a while.

The doctor seemed like a good man and an excellent surgeon. I feel so sad for him and for his family.

Anyone recognize the suspect? Not sure if he advertised on RM. Photo here

I think they figured it was more professional to say "intimate relationship" rather than a "sexual relationship". The article says they had gotten together numerous times and that there was over 4,000 texts between the two so they were pretty close to text that much. You might have for instance a good number of texts for the first time you get together with a provider but after that when you are looking to rehire there's not going to be much back and forth needed.

Keep in mind, this is in Detroit.

That's not even close to the home of a billionaire.

...  And, again, in Detroit.

I'm originally from that area of the country.  I was shocked when I last visited several years ago when a friend told me that Detroit had deteriorated so much that it was possible to buy a home for $30,000.  I think there was at least somewhat of a turnaround since that time, but I'm sure there are still affordable houses there.  Just for kicks I checked Zillow for the cost of housing near the Motown museum and found a 6-bedroom, 5-bath house on the market for $318,000.

True., except I suppose for Warren Buffett.

I guess I had my Toronto blinkers on. A house like that in central Toronto would go for over $15 million. There the average single detached house that I wouldn't even want to live in goes for well north of $1 million.

And I suppose the billionaires in Detroit live in Grosse Point.

Low cost housing but you get murdered.

According to Zillow the house sold on 7/12/24 for $1,950,000.  Public info.

The house might have gone for below market because of its sordid history. I mean talk about ghosts in the attic. 🫢
