The inclusions seem generous.

You'd pay double that at some of the 55+ communities that have opened in Manhattan.

I know that from having to recently price them.out for family members.

True, looks like it includes weekly housekeeping and all utilities.

The gym looks disappointing, but then again I've never seen an apartment gym that wasn't. I would have hoped the rare gay apartment building would be the exception to that rule 😛

I noticed that PS now has an apartment community (not assisted living) for 55+ LGBT people. Over 6k/month for a one bedroom 😮

What’s the name of this apartment community? I have seen the Stonewall assisted living community, but haven’t heard about the 55+ LGBTQ property

Looks cute enough, but I kind of hate the floor plans.

And if I ever live in a home with a ”Lanai"….just fucking shoot me.

I thought the floor plans looked alright. Noticed the chairs at the kitchen island were regular height and not stool height, which unsteady seniors might fall off. Lots of light with large windows and patio doors. I’ve seen worse.

I feel like it would be difficult to discreetly hire when living in such a building. Neighbors and concierge can probably figure out the score from your first young, handsome guest that also happens to stay about 1 hour. That's probably not a top of mind suspicion in a non gay building, at least initially.

What would the lesbians down the hall think of such open impropriety in their building? The tenant board?

Two of my aunts live in one of those 55+ communities in Florida.  Their active-adult (don't call it "retirement" because that makes them sound old!) community, and apparently all others, are cauldrons of gossip with a bunch of Gladys Kravitz's snooping into everybody's business.

So gay, straight, or any combination, I'm pretty sure your nosey neighbors will be onto you in a New York minute.

I would use the line”my grandchild, grand nephew, whatever, has come to visit me”.  At 80, having someone 25 to 30 would be a credible candidate.

PS proximity to LA, OC, and SD is definitely a plus. Though I wonder how often PS residents actually make the trip. All those places are a short and easy flight from Vegas too.

What is OC?

LA is Louisiana.

That's why I have the Mailman Rule:

If you know what time the mailman comes every day, and you know he was 20 min late last Tue, you definitely have time to watch all the neighbors, and I will avoid you like the plague!!

For respite from summer heat Washington state is a great option.   Half the folks don’t have air conditioning.  When they get the heatwaves there people freak out.  But so very nice temps  most of the summer.

Here in Eastern Canada we were told to expect above average temperatures this summer but with the exception of a 3 day heatwave up to 32C a couple of weeks ago just very nice temperatures in the mid 20s.

We rented an AirBNB house in Portland, OR, one July, and I was surprised to discover it had no a/c. The owner said, "Don't worry: there's a portable fan up in the attic."
