Are e-mails essentially the way of the dinosaur by providers?

Recommended Posts

There are many advertisers who spell out clearly that the best way to reach them, and in some cases, only good way to reach them, is to send a text. I wonder if because e-mail spam is at epidemic levels, having a buzz or an alert on their end that an e-mail was received goes largely ignored. Or, it isn't, but my message is flagged as spam since it's coming from an unknown source to them, and that could be why I don't get a response.

E-mail is my favorite method of contact, and I greatly appreciate the extremely rare providers that are willing to see me without having to use my phone. To some, my question about this might be as dumb as "Why can't I find a car that has a cassette deck player in it?", but to each their own. However, nearly every advertiser who has an e-mail contact doesn't reply at all to my inquiry, or on occasion, responds many weeks later, replying, "You should've texted me. I only check my e-mails occasionally, and sorry we couldn't connect."

Clients contact me by text, WhatsApp, Twitter DM, message on Rentmasseur and occasionally email. Some even make a telephone call!!
I prefer WhatsApp because it’s immediate. The trouble with email is that it’s not so immediate; conversations tend to be over days rather than hours or minutes as with texts or WhatsApp. However I do understand why clients don’t want to use their phone (mainly for discretion) so it’s fine to book via email…just don’t try to book a short notice session by email!

I think email used to be popular since it was the easiest way to separate a provider's personal life from his escorting life by making an email just for escorting inquiries. But with whatsapp and google voice a provider can easily have a second number without having to manually check an email box.

I use email too. A few of my clients prefer it for privacy and anonymity, and the ability to compartmentalize their hiring. To @BuffaloKyle’s point, there are several more current ways to accomplish the same thing. Some people are comfortable operating functionally in the early aughts for the rest of their life. Fine.

Texting is best for me today. One day, twenty years from now, texting will be passé. So it goes.

I generally text; I'd prefer WhatsApp but seldom know I'm advance who uses it.  A lag in getting a response doesn't bother me because I figure they're with a client.  I sometimes message within RM only so I can leave a review. I haven't used email since hiring off Craigslist.

I would assume a provider would actually prefer email to texts, since emails are easier to ignore or mull over and consider, especially when one is busy.

I never assume a text, an email, or a voicemail are a providers priority when I send it. I assume any of them will be ignored, mulled over, and considered until a response works into the schedule. It's also how I respond to most non face to face communication. I also don't let read/recieved indicators affect how quickly I respond, or expect a response.

I never use emails with providers. I primarily contact them via RM messaging then switch to texting if they are amenable to that. Some prefer WhatsApp and I ‘m good with that too.

I like the messaging or texting because one can engage in a back and forth to hash out details of an appointment.

Texting/Whatsapp is good too in the immediate period before meeting to alert arrival times, possible delays or other hitches.

The odd time I will use the phone but only after asking via text if that’s OK.

Text is definitely preferred by almost all the escorts I’ve hired. I myself feel most at ease introducing myself via text to new escorts I hope to hire, too. There was one escort from Mexico who became a regular who would always send me an email when he planned a trip to the USA, to check in and see if I wanted to meet with him while he was here visiting. Once I advised him I was indeed interested, and he was in the country, we would switch to texting though.

No one mentioned one issue with rentmen and texting and phone calls.

To have a client's review accepted and printed in the provider's ad, if a client cannot "prove" that they "met" the provider, and by "proof" rentmen wants to see some communication on the rentmen site that the provider and client actually communicated with one another.

For rentmen's reasons, a client's review will not be accepted by rentmen unless there is some communication on the rentmen site between the provider and the client.

I recently had a conversation with a rentmen exec in Germany about another issue.  The exec admitted that the communication requirement on rentmen is not "fool proof" that the provider and client met but there is another reason (too long to go into now) that makes rentmen require at least one "back and forth" chat on the rentmen site between the provider and client.

So, unless you do not plan to write a review or if the provider does not care about reviews, rentmen communication is not important.   If you or the provider want a review, at least start the communication with a rentmen chat of sorts.   Then you can switch to text or another form of communication.

I know for a fact that when a provider has a huge number of positive reviews, clients are more likely to hire the provider that has many positive reviews versus a provider with zero or only one or two reviews.

No doubt, texting rules, I wish we could go back to phone calls...

If emails is that important to you stick to it but they number of providers will only shrink as time goes by.

Exactly! Common sense.

I remember providers 10 years ago or more complaining about getting emails on Rentboy asking: "are you free now?" Sometimes the potential clients misspelled their own email making replying to them impossible.

Ugh yes that’s so annoying. I’ve a website where I invite guys to apply to be in a porn movie (that’s a different thread!!) but there’s a field for them to put in their email address if they want to be contacted by email about filming sessions. It’s amazing how many emails bounce back because the guy put in the wrong email. I guess I should amend the form so that they put it in twice and the form checks they’re the same. But I find that annoying myself when I have to do that!!

I don't have a preference either way, but lately pretty much every escort or masseur I've hired has been purely through text. I think text is just easier for them because it keeps conversations shorter. With email, there can be paragraphs worth of exchange happening and sometimes that might be necessary, but when you're filtering through a lot of guys who don't end up hiring you, I'm sure that short bursts of communication is preferred.

Text (or messenger app like WhatsApp or Telegram) is best because it’s faster than email. I like to text the client on the day to confirm (or remind them!) the appointment and that is much easier if I can do that via text over email. People don’t check their emails often and usually don’t have their in box set up to notify them of a new mail. Whereas with text or messenger it tends to get noticed faster plus you can be confident it was delivered.

Is it normal for a provider, in this case from Rent Masseur, to say they "will call you tomorrow" to coordinate everything? We were texting, I asked some questions about what I was looking for/what was included, and then he said he'd call tomorrow.

Who is to say what is normal?

When a provider suddenly ends a text or any other type of communication, the reasons could be multiple.

First, the provider might not be interested in meeting.  You will know if this is the case if the provider does not call you the next day.

Another reason could be the provider is busy at the time and could not continue communication.

In short, with the brief question asked, there is no way to know for sure why a provider would stop texting and say he will call the client the next day.

Too many variables to accurately predict the reason.

I was asking if others have had providers want to talk on the phone instead of text explicit details. I wasn't concerned about whether or not he wanted to meet, etc. More along the lines of concern and not knowing as I am still learning about hiring masseurs.
