I most definitely feel old when:

I roll out of bed every morning and nearly every thing aches

I look in the mirror when I shave

I realize that I don't have a clue who all the young actors are today

I realize all the young actors I knew when I was young are now old

I realize all the older actors I knew when I was you are now dead

However, the major problem definitely seems to be that the mind doesn't recognize that I'm old but the damn body sure as hell does.

Not surprising.  I had a discussion with 2 about 30-year old women not long ago and they never heard of Tony Curtis or Janet Leigh.  When I told them they were Jamie Leigh Curtis' parents, they were like "Oh Wow".

Don't you mean when you told them they were Christopher Guest's father and mother in law?

I thought for sure you were going to say they said "Who's Jamie Leigh Curtis?"

The swift turnover in pop culture has made many important American figures invisible. The sheer volume of celebrities now makes it impossible for younger people to see a landscape that existed where you weren’t celebrated unless you were actually good at something.

Yes, I am old, but it’s strictly circumstantial. (The circumstance was that my mother was pregnant for 3/4 of a year.) It’s fun to share little bits of past pop culture with The Young, but I keep it brief with as much sex and violence as possible. 😂

And all off us old farts here never knew who Blanche Ring was  but our parents and grandparents did. (original recordings of Come Josephine In My Flying Machine and Rings On Her Fingers, Bells On Her Toes) And your great grandparents can't believe you've never seen a production of Mazeppa. It has ever been thus. On the bright side teenagers 100 years from now will be wondering who the fuck was Taylor Swift.

I feel old when I’d rather spend my Friday evening watching Barney Miller re-runs on Antenna TV (a cable station) than doing anything that requires leaving my home.

You're just imagining eating a pizza off Wojo's butt, aren't you?

You mean Blanch Ring was not the inventor of anal bleaching?

I ran into Lenny Kravitz several years ago and the 20 something man I was with said, “Who’s Lenny Kravitz?”

I’ve heard of him but I’m not sure who he is. A singer or comedian?

These references have much less to do with getting old and much more to do with people being uninformed.

If a person or work of art is or was significant, a reasonably-informed person should know.

The Mona Lisa, Gone With the Wind, Lauren Bacall,  World War 2, Julius Caesar, Tennessee Williams, and Nina Simone were all before my time.  Nevertheless, as a child I knew who and what the fuck they were, because I was a curious person.

When someone doesn't know what you're talking about, but they should, don't let them off the hook just because it was "before their time."

Don't feel bad, it wasn't a good show....except for the episode where Mr. Jefferson takes care of the landlord's Doberman.  Now that had a SHOCKINGLY funny scene,  very out of synch for the show.

I realized I was old when Titanic was re-released in 2012 and I heard that some of the younger people who saw it didn't realize the sinking was an historical event.   Or maybe that's when I realized some people are pretty stupid.
