Gentlemen it's called variety. You can't compare a Baltic cruise to a tropical getaway. Do both, life is short. And while BN can be a little blunt, he's a nice guy and very knowledgable. He meant no harm.

They are different, obviously, and if you were interested both would be worth taking. The Baltic Sea cruise suggestion wasn't directed at @Benjamin_Nicholas's comment but at a poster who was not interested in a tropical getaway and said he'd prefer a North Sea cruise. The Baltic Sea suggestion was more, 'If you must take a cold climate cruise, the North Sea is probably a bad idea, try this.' I would suggest going to the Antarctic Peninsula or the high Arctic, but that's just me.

Thank you!  You understood my point exactly.  And like you, I would also love to do an Antarctic and a High Arctic cruise some day.  :)

I've done an Antarctic cruise, expensive but worth every cent, in 2003. It was on a small ship, 57 pax, for 14 days. The entire time from shortly before first sight of land smelt of penguin poo.

LOL... "thread gone wild"... thanks for the suggestions guys.  Trying to book something with TrueMagicBen.... If anyone else comes to mind let me know.   Here until February 14th and then to Palm Spring for a couple of months.  Cheers!

You'll have a good time with Ben I think. I did and hope to see him again.

I'm struggling to reconcile "expensive but worth every cent" with "The entire time from shortly before first sight of land smelt of penguin poo."

Yeah, it does sound odd. It fairly quickly became something that was in the background. It may have come and gone rather than being constant, but it's a consistent recollection. Time may have clouded my memories, of course.

I've heard people say they enjoy eating durian.

So hopefully getting this back on topic....my experience with PV the second time (first time was with an escort for the whole trip) is that there are lots of massage guys/strippers who will do privates, but what they offer differ. Fortunately most speak adequate english for you to negotiate. RM is also filled with travelling escorts while there. So check out RM and the strip clubs and see what strikes your fancy...the dealings are no different than strip clubs elsewhere.  Enjoy. I love PV for the sun and its great food. It used to be more authentically Mexican, but now it's very touristy.

Yes, Zona Romantica is super touristy.  People who want to vacation amongst some actual culture just need to get on the bus and get out of the typical lilly-white areas.

You're still in MX.  Mismaloya is just down the road 20 minutes and it's as authentic as it gets.

And Mismaloya is absolutely beautiful.

@xyz48B I went to PV in November for the first time and loved it.  It's beautiful, the food is fantastic and there are men (and things to do) there for men of all ages and body types.  Strongly suggest you give it a try.

November may be a better time. I’m not super excited about hot places! 🥵

There are tropical penguins! Maybe not PV-far north, but there are indeed tropical penguins. And I’m betting they poo – tropical poo too! 😂

Not that I doubted you, but I was intrigued and wanted to know more.

Tropical penguins

Very docile and gentle, Galapagos penguins are unique. They are not only one of the smallest penguin species in the world, but also they are also the only penguin that lives in the equatorial line with a tropical climate. They feed near the coast and their diet is mainly composed of fish and crustaceans.May 16, 2017

This ought to bring down the "off topic" police. Sorry.

curious about going rates . I was chatting with guy I dated over the summer  about PV recently .

He basically told me I would not like it - it’s not Mykonos ( a fact he repeated many times )  but I’m curious enough to visit - especially if it doesn’t cost what Mykonos costs

That said I do like Mexico -cdmx in particular. I guess being a new yorker , I need culture , good food and art - but i keep an open mind
