"We don't want a fifth wave. We don't want a sixth and seventh wave. We don't want to have this discussion next summer," announced Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg.

  • The country has the lowest vaccination rate in western Europe, with only 2/3 of its population fully vaccinated.
  • Those refusing to be vaccinated are likely to face administrative fines, which can be converted into a prison sentence if the fine cannot be recovered.
  • The age from which people will be required to be vaccinated has not yet been determined

Well, it is about time to say "enough of the bullshit." I'm not sure we need to put people in jail, but a reasonable option would be that you need to show proof of immunization to go anywhere indoors: grocery store, restaurant, bus, tram, train, plane, or HOSPITAL. That'll get the message through.

15,300 new cases per day is a stunning number for a country with a 9.1 million population. Yup, enough of the BS.

EDIT to add that New Zealand, with a population of 4.9 million, has had about 7,000 cases of covid - total - since the beginning......

Too bad the US can't do the same.  Hopefully we'll at least put a policy in place where you have to have it to fly.

Blacks have long memories in the United States  about "experiments."

They may not "get the message,"  Doctor Unicorn.

Exactly!

I understand skepticism in January but c'mon the vaccine has been proven effective.

How come some folks trust Viagra by Pfizer and not the vaccine?

It's a symptom of the current state of Education in North America. No interest in spreading fake news about one drug that makes your cock hard but vicious fake news attacks against the other one that saves your life. Only God knows what other terrifying visions of the world do these people have in their minds.

It is not only in the United States where people are demonstrating against the vaccine.

Take a look at this article that discusses what is happening in Austria as a result of the vaccine requirement.

There are misguided people all over the world, not just in the U.S. and Austria.

For males under 30 in fact, risk of myocarditis and hospitalization from the vax is greater than risk from covid.  The FDA's own data shows that.  Now vaxxing 5-11 year olds is going to end this??   Without knowing the long term effects??

Vermont has the highest vax rate in the nation and is seeing a surge in cases and hospitalizations.    People need to come to terms that life is not zero risk.  In the quest to eliminate risks, we are destroying the joy of living for the vast majority of people with very low risk to COVID.   For those at risk, it is your responsibility to protect yourself.  After almost 2 years enough is enough.

There are some countries where the Constitutions would permit this kind of policy.  The United States is not one of those, and I don't agree with the heavy-handed mandate approach.  I think ideally if there was a vaccine that every single person in the country agreed was safe, then you probably wouldn't need to force people to get it.

I just don't like the idea of the government having this much power to regulate what goes into people's bodies.  It just doesn't sit well with me.

I strongly support science, I support social distancing whenever possible, and the wearing of masks, but I think we need to try a different approach.  Many of the most hesitant to get the vaccines are religious conservatives who believe it is literally "Satan juice".  It's very hard to argue with them, or persuade them to take the vaccine, and the idea of the Federal Government in the U.S. mandating something like would be a massive overreach and deeply unpopular.  It would sabotage the CDC more than it would help it.  It would not help us get closer to the day when COVID becomes more like the flu in that it doesn't disappear - maybe ever - but it is contained and containment, to the point where we no longer have to live in so much fear of catching it, is the realistic goal, not complete elimination.

Eventually we'll have to relax the strict mandates and government orders, and let people self-isolate when they are sick or feel like they are getting symptoms, and the masks would be then optional, maybe encouraged in certain areas like packed cities, but optional for wearing them, and I bet a lot of people, especially older people, would continue to wear them outside for the next 5-7 years, some of them probably will always wear them.

This Plague has changed all of our lives, and it has changed the world.  There is no going back to pre-COVID, but post-COVID can be realized.

Yeah right.  Like you geniuses have been right....WRONG.    This is supposed to have been over by now.  It's getting worse with more new cases even with 70%-90% of populations vaxxed.
