If we are going to have an exclusive forum, I like @mike carey 's vision of a place to reward trusted members with a history of positive contributions and interactions. Right now, anyone can drop a few bucks and gain access.

 

I would also prefer it to be non visible for non members, like the case referred by @Benjamin_Nicholas . Right now, it invites to paranoid delusions.

Agree with this. We should keep it, it is helpful sometimes to have tighter conversations. And, make it not visible unless you do have access (if possible). Right now, seems like @RadioRob can do anything!

if the wink wink p.o. box is no longer available many of us need another way or an anonymous electronic way. PayPal work?

I can set something up for the short term. Hopefully it's not actively being used though.

 

I'm going to be the guy who keeps saying I'm confused. Why are we doing this?

 

I've been involved in lots of grassroots fundraising and other fundraising. So when I was doing this with Bill I had some very specific short term and long term ideas, some of which he liked and some of which he didn't. My mantra was always, "Your website, your rules." But the way I take the discussion is we're moving away from that model of fundraising. @Coolwave35 has said he wants to fund the site and he's not interested in a community-funding model. I'm reading the room as people generally accept that. Speaking only for myself, I'm not complaining that I don't have to give money or raise money for this website.

 

Meanwhile, there's a massive blank slate about the escort review website. At one point @Coolwave35 said something about that might be a place where a donor's group could get together and work on a plan. If that's a correct characterization of what he said, I tend to agree. But the general sense I get is there's a lean toward making as few substantive changes as possible while we're in legal limbo. Which makes sense. I'd suggest that ideas like that are ones that go on the drawing board. Instead of doing anything now, it might make more sense to use this time to plan what we want to do in the future as our legal drama plays out and, hopefully, gets resolved.

 

The Cabana may not even be necessary if the site goes to a new model of financial support.

 

Same thing. I'd already made the point and @RadioRob suggested now's not a time to add or subtract. I'll go with Rob on that. Eventually I think we probably can just get rid of The Cabana. But it would help, I think, if we decided now is a good time to be thinking and talking about new ideas and new directions, and we'll get to making the actual changes later.

After speaking with the other moderators, it has been observed the organization of the forums is a little unnatural and seems to be sorted based on when they were created. As a result I will be looking to reorganize the forum listings a bit. Below is an outline of how we plan to organize the display:

I did not want to just spring this on everyone unannounced, so my goal is to share the plan here first and then make the change in the next few days. If you have any questions or would like to propose a name for the Lounge/Cabana container, feel free to reply below.

 

Could you create two new forums, one for clients discussion only and one for escort discussion only.

The main consideration I think is that you just don’t start up live theatre by turning on a switch, like you do running films in a theatre. The cast needs to rehearse, once you find a cast. I just left the board of a live theatre company and most of the cast we had hired in 2019 for the 2020 season, who got cancelled but given the option to return, did not want to come back in 2021 as they have moved on to other employment opportunities. And even now, 2021 is looking iffy.

 

Also, theatre owners are going to have to figure out how they are going to operate under the new “normal”.

I thought the Cabana was not visible to non members? I don’t remember seeing it before I was given access but maybe I’m losing my mind…

No, you are not losing your mind. That is a good point. I know The Cabana is not visible if I do not sign in. But you can be a forum member without having access to the private forum. I wonder if a signed in forum member can see The Cabana when he has no access.

The Cabana might have served as a debating group on how to help Guy survive financially. In his last PM to me in January, he suggested a gift card from Amazon rather than cash. He wanted to see / select books from Amazon.

At this time, there is no plan to remove the Cabana. In the PAST, it was granted to people who had contributed to the financial stability of the site. Going forward, I don’t see it being associated to a financial requirement, but instead to regular contributors.

 

In the SHORT TERM, there is no plan to make changes to permissions. This exercise is simplest to reorganize the forums.

 

If folks have contributed to the forums in the past that do not have access to the Cabana or someone feels they have been an active contributor and feels excluded, PM me and I’ll manually adjust your permissions.
