I don't know about everyone else but I hate all the sub-forums in Comedy & Tragedy. I'd rather just have it all be one catch all section. It doesn't get too many threads in that section anyway.

@BuffaloKyle, To respond to your comment, before you became a member in 10/2020 there was a request made by @Lucky to have a separate forum called “Comedy/Tragedy”. It’s original intend was to discuss Broadway ? shows. The Forum became quite popular and other requests were made for sub-forums devoted to movies, literature, TV, etc. The major reason it might not look too active to you is because of the pandemic. You’ll see the number of threads increase once these venues reopen. Just because a Forum doesn’t appear too active, ex. Escort Travels, doesn’t mean it won’t get active in time.

Broadway returns May 19th.....

Didn't they say they were holding off on that still?

“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo upstaged the Broadway League on Monday. Industry insiders expectedthe trade organization, which represents theater owners and producers, to say that some Broadway shows would reopen in September with more coming back during the fall. But at a press conference Cuomo beat them to it, lifting most capacity restrictions on restaurants, bars, museums, gyms, salons and retail shops by May 19. That list also included Broadway.”

Question:

To preserve my anonymity, each year I always sent a money order or cash to Bill without my name.

In order to be a member of "The Cabana" must one disclose who sends money?

Thanks in advance for a response.

All you need to do is include a slip of paper with your username on it. That's all that's needed to give you access to The Cabana.

The Cabana was not started until 2016, and anyone who donated within a calendar year got an icon under his/her name, which is why no one has more than six icons. There was no private forum for donating members before then, and I'm not sure it has ever really been necessary..

I have the vague impression that even in hooboy's day there was some sort of limited access forum...maybe even more than one (an even vaguer impression that there might have been a forum limited to escorts at one time). Anyone remember/know more about this?

I think there was once an escort forum where they could discuss things among themselves. Not sure though as it was before Daddy.

I just want to thank the Moderators, Coolwave and Radio Rob for making Hooville a better place.

Your hard work is noted!

Hooville! When I started the Palm Springs Weekend back in 2005, I named it The Hooville Weekend, a reference to the board and Hooboy, its founder.

I still like the name as a descriptor of the message board, a village of gay men with something to say.

Yes. It was an invite-only space that never showed up on the general board.

It was ultimately abused by some of the members and shut down.

That's about a feature of the site in the past (before my time) but that doesn't mean that there is no need for an exclusive nook in the forum for trusted members (however defined, and donations may not be the best criterion). Of course, I should be part of that (that was a joke, I have no more claim than anyone else). Who should be there? That's difficult, and who would decide is also difficult. People who have a broader perspective and understand why the site is here and what it can do, rather than just what it is.

How typically American--something "exclusive" for the upper crust. Either make the whole open to all or charge all a fee for access to everything

I disagree, it's not an 'exclusive upper crust', it's people who have demonstrated a commitment to the site. It's something they have earned, not a 'right' they are claiming.

I am all for eliminating The Cabana. That said, in what planet do you live? Do you think that practice is only an American thing?
