  1. Administrator’s Message Gentlemen, You’re taking this thread off-topic. Please keep the discussion to “Andrew NYC. Thanks!
  2. Citibank came out with their new CD rates. No change. Their best rate is still 6 months @ 4.75%.
  3. If you enjoyed the book and movie, you are going to love this show. The setting is 1967 Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 2 rival groups are the Greasers and the Socs. They are constantly fighting which leads to one of the best choreographed fight numbers Broadway has seen. It’s a young and attractive cast… Making his Broadway debut is Brody Grant playing Ponyboy. He's on stage the entire performance. He’s extremely talented not only in acting but singing and dancing. He really connected with the audience as you could hear a lot of sniffles during the 2nd Act. The role of Johnny is played by Sky Lakota Lynch. He’s performed Off-Broadway. He does an excellent job in this role. Great voice & energy. It’s an easy show to follow. The songs tell the story and sides between the Greasers & Socs are well distinguish. There was some blind-casting but it made no difference. I’ll be interested to find out on 4/30 how many Tony nominations this show receives. I highly recommend seeing it. Right now it’s an easy ticket to get but come 4/30 it might not be.

  5. @Ali Gator, There have been several Broadway productions that celebrated the lives of well known singers. Some that I enjoyed were: Good Vibrations (Beach Boys), Beautiful (Carole King), Ain’t Too Proud (Temptations), more recently, MJ the Musical (Michael Jackson). On Your Feet (Gloria Estafan). That one had the audience join a conga line! The Cher Show (Cher), etc. I really enjoyed Beautiful Noise. It was a most interesting and informative show. Also, well written and acted. The audience participation didn’t take place till the curtain call. It was a lot of fun! I saw a matinee. Too early for “drunks”. 😂 🥂

  8. Neil Diamond has Parkinson’s and can no longer tour. I didn’t know this till after I saw the show and read it in the Playbill. During the show I was wondering why the actor playing “old” Neil, Mark Jacoby, kept shaking his fingers as if he were nervous. If you like Neil’s music you’re going to love this show. Has anyone else seen it? I’d appreciate hearing from you. Some 30 years ago I saw Neil in concert at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. It was a remarkable show! The actor playing young Neil, Nick Fradiani, is amazing! The show deals with Neil’s life, the ups & downs, something you can’t get just listening to his music.

  14. March 26th will mark the 3rd Anniversary of daddy/ @Guy Fawkes passing. I was just reading through the numerous tributes posted in this thread and reflecting on the contributions each one of you have made to keep his memory alive. When @HooBoy passed @Guy Fawkes took control and worked tirelessly to keep the site going. Unable to purchase it he created a new site and transferred all our posts and reviews to the new one. We were all so appreciative for this as it kept our community together. When daddy suddenly passed I thought this was the end but, fortunately, contacts were made and daddy’s labor of love continues through all our eyes. Cheers to daddy! I truly enjoyed my years working along side with him and I’m certain he’d be so pleased knowing the site he created is still up and running! 🥂 🍾 Thanks to all the supportive members who stuck around to watch as the show must go on! RIP my old friend. 🙏
  15. This is definitely a show you’ll want to sing along with and tap your feet. I thoroughly enjoying it. The show begins with 2 actors sitting on stage. One is (old) Neil Diamond, played by Mark Jacoby, and the other is his therapist. Here begins the story of Neil Diamond as he reflects on his career using the lyrics from a song book. The role of young Neil is played by Nick Fradiani. He’s excellent. Voice and mannerisms are just like Neil’s. There’s lots of singing, dancing, and storytelling. Orchestra will appear on stage during concert like numbers. And, yes, the audience is encouraged to sing along! I attended a Wednesday matinee. Purchased my tickets at TKTS. Had 2nd row orchestra. Mostly an older audience.

  23. It opened on Broadway 🎭 back in the summer of 2023. I’m sure most of us are familiar with the story and enjoyed the movie. Now, you can see it all on stage. A fun plot about being transported back to 1955. The major characters are Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and George McFly. A very talented, youthful, energetic, and likable cast. There’s lots of singing, dancing, and set changes. I was entertained and impressed with the special effects including fires, explosions, sparks, lightning, and the famous DeLorean. Yes, it flies off stage and heads out towards the audience. After the show it can be found parked on the street outside the Theatre. The audience consisted of all ages. At the performance I attended there were lots of well behaved school groups. They seem mesmerized by the show.
  24. Administrator’s Note: Gentlemen, It might be hard for some but let’s try not to turn this thread into a political debate. As you know, political discussions are not permitted. Unfortunately, we had to delete one comment already.
