Re: CD’s If you think CD rates might still be rising and you don’t want to lock-in your money for 9+ months, Citi is still offering the “no penalty” CD at 4.75%. Other banks might have better rates. Breaking a CD before its maturity can cost you 3 months in interest.

I started this thread a year ago and have been following rising CD rates ever since. Today’s rate @ Citibank for a 9 month CD is 4.90% with a minimum of $100,000. From reading previous messages I see that CD rates are higher elsewhere. One of my CD’s @ Citi matures this week and I’ll be rolling it over into the higher rate.

I’m spending my summer in Putnam County NY where there is no lack of rain. On Sunday we had a record rainfall of over 8 inches. Flooding resulted in some road closures and a couple have been washed away. The lake I’m on rose over a foot causing some property damage and created a few wonderful falls. The nearby Croton Reservoir, which provides water to NYC, is at 100% capacity. Otherwise, it’s been a typical summer with hazy, hot, and humid weather.

Do/did any of you own AT&T (T)? Last year T did a spinoff and started Warner Bros Discovery Inc (WBD). YTD down over 50%. Definitely, not a success story. 😞

A spinoff is a new and separate company that's created when a parent company distributes shares in a subsidiary or business division to the parent company shareholders. A stock I own symbol LH has completed a 1-4-1 spinoff symbol FTRE. Tomorrow it will start trading. I haven’t had much success with spin-offs but I’m hoping this will be a good move. 🙏 Anyone have a success story on spinoffs?
