Aren't there enough channels that run marathons of people's favorites all day long on Super Bowl Sunday? The best thing about this dumb game is that it is a dream come true for sports haters to enjoy going out - it is attendance-wise the least crowded day of the entire year, be it shopping or museums or whatever tickles a sports-haters fantasy. I joke that I know every guy known to man who hates sports. Cheers tomorrow!

I just got home from a Super Bowl party, hosted by one of my best and dearest friends every year—straight as a nail. Every year, I’m make trays of Hawaiian roll sliders—turkey and provolone, ham and Swiss, Italian, and Big Mac sliders (trust me, they’re delicious). If the straight men aren’t at the gym, they’re at my friend’s house. 😂

The cost of a Super Bowl commercial has cracked eight figures. 

Some ad slots for the Feb. 8 game on NBC have sold for $10 million, Mike Marshall, head of global advertising for NBCUniversal, told Bloomberg.

That's a huge leap even from the $8 million going rate for 30 seconds of time in this year's game, pitting the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots. Networks often hold back a handful of slots to sell as last-minute inventory.

That gambit apparently paid off for NBC, creating yet another high-water mark in advertising for the big game. The $10 million plateau is a 43% increase from just four years ago, when $7 million bought you 30 seconds of exposure; this year's game is expected to attract an audience of up to 130 million viewers.

For me  the most boring day of the year is the Sunday before the Super Bowl. It's the first Sunday in months without football and you know you have to wait another whole week for the game. I hate it.

You did not need sleep medication.  Unless you are a fan of defensive football, the game was a snooze.  Seattle was in charge all the way, which for me was nice to see.  But it was a defensive, field position game for the first 3 quarters with the only scores being 4 seattle field goals.  I drifted off to sleep at that point and came back and saw that each team had scored a late touchdown and Seattle had added another field goal.  A very late fumble lead to Seattle getting yet another TD, but the game was over after the first half.  It was clear that New England did not have the offense to get over on Seattle's defense.
