You seem to make the assumption that people using pics in their avatar are actually them just because you decided to use your real pic. Just because you do it, don’t think others will. There is also people on the web who claim they are the people in the picture and are not. There is no way to verify unless you meet them. This has been a particular issue discussed multiple times on the forum about hiring providers.

 

Some use pics or illustrations because they just like the pic and it may or may not be representational of themselves. I’m assuming a lot of people won’t use face pics of themselves because they want to maintain anonymity... either out of fear of being discovered by friends, family, or a colleague. Others just because they just don’t want to. I do realize some forum members use their actual body parts (other than their face) and a lot of the escorts, who use this forum as more than a way to express themselves, show their faces or at least their bodies.

 

Besides this forum, I’m not on social media. There aren’t many pics of me online that I know of. As much as I like posting here, if I were to put my pic out on the web purposely, the forum would be the last place I’d post it.

I'm not about to enter into a conversation about whether the image I use is of me, or whether other users chose to use their own image. There is no forum requirement for folk to use an image of themselves, or their own name, or to disclose whether they do so. The fact that some other forum members may already know the answer to that question about me is immaterial.

My photo is my young friend, Christopher, a journalist, who was killed in South Sudan on August 26, 2017.

 

I keep in touch with his parents who are grieving still - of course he was only 26 years old. I last heard from him when in Uganda not known if entry to South Sudan was possible. Christopher covered the war in Ukraine for several years also.

My avatar is a photo from the Vanson leather collection of biker jackets. I do own this particular jacket (my favorite among many) and I love wearing white t-shirts. So if there was a real photo of me in the jacket, like this one, I doubt you’d see any difference. Grabbing the photo from Vanson was so much easier.
