Well ice chests are packed with food and boxes are packed with cooking utensils and platters. Jawjatec and I have our bags backed and are about to leave for the drive to Palm Springs. See you all soon.

Saturday afternoon and here I am in the Qantas Lounge at Sydney airport about to board my flight. Well, in an hour or so to be precise but you get the idea. Unfortunately my flight is to Canberra, not to the place I would rather be right now, and I think you can guess where that is, but still, these are my first flights since last January. I have so far seen one report of how @David-SF's party went (thank you @PeterMxM), and hope that the tree-planting went off with suitable solemnity. I wish you all a convivial weekend together (and whatever other activities you choose to undertake), I shall certainly be thinking of you. xoxoxox

I am going to Joshua Tree NP tomorrow morning at about 9AM. I have an NP parks pass so if anyone wants to go, I'm happy to take them, leaving from Canyon Club. I will check my in-box tomorrow morning for PMs if you're interested.

It's making me crazy not to be there with all of you this weekend. Just couldn't quite get my second vaccine jab in time. I'm hoping we all gather again next year when I can be there. Make sure and eat all the stuffed dates so Epigonos makes them again next year. (I don't really care either way about the eggs. I'm totally in it for the dates.)

Wayne and I had a great time, as always. It was awesome getting to meet so many new people this year!!

 

We're now living in Palm Springs, so it was nice not having to make the two-hour drive home this morning, but it's still so hard to go back to reality!

I can relate to those cars and boats with water-skiers. Must have been taken around 1956 or so. Many cars were two-tone in color, we had a Ford from 1955, copper brown and white.

 

And fiber-glass runabouts appeared then in Canada, replacing the cedar strip boats from earlier days.

 

The derelict motel must have seen many seasons of holiday makers.

You shouldn't worry. At least you have a shot and your immunity is building up quickly. In a week you will be around 70 to 80 percent if you got either the Moderna or Pfizer. I got my Pfizer over two weeks ago now and feeling pretty confident.

I'll leave it to others who may have been in a better position (pun intended) to tell the tale of Oliver's 2021 Pool Party. All I will say: a record may have been set for the number of individuals concurrently in the pool.

I'll leave it to others who may have been in a better position (pun intended) to tell the tale of Oliver's 2021 Pool Party. All I will say: a record may have been set for the number of individuals concurrently in the pool.

Did they do a body count after everyone got out of the pool? ( See my previous post on bodies left in the pool after a party.)

 

I've known of instances when debauchery occurred in a swimming pool.

 

And I thought it was only Vegas where the expression what happens applies to, not PS.

Fortunately, our generous host keeps the pool crystal clean. Being a former lifeguard I cannot be next to a pool without my eyes constantly scanning to ensure safety. When I left there were only four gentlemen in the pool/hot tub and all faces were above water!

About fifty miles southeast of Palm Springs, at the very end of the San Andreas Fault. Interesting place, as @coriolis888 has posted.

 

They say it's one of the lowest places in the USA.

 

Though I expect the high jinks at Oliver's pool will give it a run for its money.
