Sounds like a great idea to me. Since several posters have no self-control mechanism, it should be imposed on them. That would go a long way in helping restore some sense of normalcy to this forum.

Ignoring does have its risks. Yesterday I stepped into a conversation in a way I wouldn't have should I knew the whole context.

However, it mostly works wonderfully. It rescues your forum experience from those who have kidnapped it.

If this is a big concern for some Forum members I think there is an ignore feature in this software that can be employed so that members don’t have to view frequent postings by other Forum members.

A thread can become very confusing if someone on ignore posts in that thread.

Who are we fooling? Let’s quit beating around the bush and just admit this thread is directed specifically at one Forum member, maybe two. If you see that a specific member has created a thread the obvious solution is to not view the thread. Since you’re proposing to limit the number of threads a member can post why not simply start a self-imposed limit of threads that you’ll personally look at.

I’ve had my fair share of snarky comments in this Forum but there are many who should be ashamed of their downright hate and animosity directed at a couple of Forum members.

After ignoring one person I found my enjoyment of the forums went back up. The only oddness is the "Television" forum keeps showing up as having new threads but there aren't any when I click on it. :-)

I find his threads to be mostly meaningless fluff, occasionally offensive, and once in a blue moon...enlightening.

In other words....it’s the same way I feel about 99% of the posters here.

He’s just more prolific than the rest of you.

One of the things that I love about this message board is that it’s always had a bit of the Wild West feeling.

We are, for the most part, left to our own devices. It’s rare and it’s something for which I am very thankful.

I’m against censorship in any form. Don’t like the topic of the thread?....skip it.

Good points all, but if the level of mundane and inane posts from one or two sources causes some to leave and thus reduce the number of interesting members, perhaps a little self restraint might be in order.

Someone has raised the point at one time that these “new posts” being referred to somehow shield this forum from being singled out as an escort-centric site.

How about looking at this new development as a service to a member of the community who I think is a shut-in.

If all else fails, ignore their posts and move on. Comment on the threads that you like and that might perhaps divert the discussions to your liking.

What about a limit on the number of hateful comments and name calling that can be addressed to a poster in one day?

If Facebook can't limit Russian bots posting stuff to influence elections and churn up hatred and distrust among U.S. citizens, what makes you think the administrators of this site can successfully prevent them from posting all of the 'hateful comments and name calling' you seem to think is coming from actual people outside of Russia?

Consider:

I must... I must... I must increase my bust!

I remember an episode of Laverne & Shirley in which Shirley was mortified when Laverne and her date walked in on Shirley doing her exercises:

I must... I must... I must increase my bust!

I know... I know... I know that they will grow!

Hurrah... Hurrah... my aim's a bigger bra!

Now enough with the word play;)

There are very few forum members that share my political stance, yet I have perhaps only 5 or 6 people on ignore here... generally because I find them to be silly or tedious. That does not mean that I never read their posts (with, perhaps one exception) - just that I need to OPT-IN to see what they are up to. That gives me agency... which I enjoy.

I have only blocked one person here and that was his PMs. He has since disappeared.

The one who never hijacked a thread should cast the first stone.

You keep on talking about your experience ignoring but you also talk abut being able to "see the ignored content" and take a peak.
