What about a limit for the number of a topic a person can create a day?

I’m against censorship in any form …

I understand that inclination, but assume you are aware that The Management does exercise a measure of "editorial control." As do all print publications and, I would guess, many, if not most, social media sites.

… if the level of mundane and inane posts from one or two sources causes some to leave and thus reduce the number of interesting members, perhaps a little self restraint might be in order.

Completely agree. If only SELF-restraint was a a possibility. No evidence of that so far.

… What's the big freakin deal?!?! GEEZ a little compassion for others!

For the record, A WHOLE LOT OF COMPASSION (and actual effort to HELP) has been extended to the poster who has BEGGED for attention and feedback while showing exactly ZERO consideration for others here.

Totally agree.

When someone is willing to put themselves out there, to claim credentials that allow him to speak authoritatively on a subject, to enter into a controversy they MUST expect people will react and respond, either positively or negatively.

I would say that people's reactions (with the possible exception of yours truly) here have actually shown remarkable restraint considering the provocations thrown at them!

Ultimately it is up to the administrator to decide how to run this forum. We all have our opinion but in the end its up to administrator to decide.

I was initially critical of the initial constant posts and sometimes inappropriate questions, remarks. But after getting a bit more knowledge of what is going on his life, it seems this forum is the closest he has to human interaction.

So just because someone has a supposed unfulfilling home life, one gets carte blanche to run amok on this forum and do as he pleases and say as he pleases without repercussions? That's a acceptable reason to allow someone to start 30 new threads a day on ridiculous topics that don't belong here? That's a good enough explanation for allowing said person to infect virtually every discussion thread with his whining and whimpering....not to mention his racist and extremist views? So said person gets a complete pass? Rules apply for everyone else but not to him? No wonder the trolls are winning the war in discussion forums around the world. Abusive and disruptive posting behavior gets tacit approval providing you display your pity pass card.

I am not generally in favor of censorship either, but discussion forums need some guidelines enforced from time to time or things spin out of control. Trolls emerge quickly when they see a vacuum. What would happen if starting tomorrow, all relatively active posters here in Daddy's World began opening 30 new threads a day on topics that have nothing to do with the hobby at hand? Imagine. How many new threads a day would that be? Would the administrators sit idly by and allow that to occur on a daily basis?

We very well know that a dozen people won't start 30 posts. Like I said, it is up to administer how to handle. Right now he is not breaking any rules. So to say we are making an exception is inaccurate because no rules have been broken. We can banter back and forth but as far as I know administrator has not asked for our opinion. And if any rules were broken it is up to administer.

Note to administer: this is not meant to be at all a critique of you and sorry if it is coming out that way.

You've completely missed the point of my response. Imagine what things would be like here if the 50-60 active users decided to open 30 new inane threads a day just to make a point. If it's acceptable for one person to do that then it is acceptable for everyone to do that. My new suggested senseless thread topics would be:

1. Do you prefer Key West or Catalina Island?

2. Should I buy new copper cookware?

3. Would you rather go to Mars or Arkansas?

4. Burial or Cremation?

5. Is Hell more fun than Heaven?

6. Ever put a toothbrush into your penis?

7. I want to chew glass....should I?

8. Is Sarah Palin a she-bot?

9. How much would you pay to be straight?

10. Is Blythe Danner actually a man?

11. Who was the first transgender US President?

12. Can a Playdoh figure be mayor of Carmel California?

13. What if they moved Argentina into the Bering Sea?

14. Should France ban all incoming travelers from Northern Ireland?

15. What if penguins invaded the Taj Mahal?

16. I think I just farted. Should I do something about it?

17. For how many months have I been screwing over this discussion forum?

18. Are the Munsters and Adams Family real?

19. Will Barrow Alaska host the Summer Olympics tomorrow?

20. Where did I leave my car keys?

21. If I have blackhead on my nose, what should I do?

22. I'm thinking about piercing my liver...should I?

23. Yams or Sweet Potatoes?

24. Sand or Diamonds?

25. How much can aloe talk?

26. Is shoe leather worth it?

27. Where is Mickey Rooney when you need him?

28. Will Forest run off the planet?

29. What a dumb thread this is.

30. Is Amy Winehouse back from the dead?

I think that #4 would be interesting. I favor cremation.

So. What have we learned from this thread?

~ There's one, or perhaps two posters whose only social outlet is voluminous (attempted?) interaction on this forum.

~ If you don't enjoy reading the many, many, many, many thread topics begun by our shut-ins, the best thing to do is "scroll on by!"

~ Ignorance may be bliss unless you continuously sneak peeks at those ignored. It also may prove confusing, especially, it seems, in the TV forum!

~ @Dominiking seems quite the popular escort here and quite successfully continues to comprehend the importance of Marketing 101!

~ We finally have a direct statement (starting this very thread) from @Raven which is not a "Quoth" :D!

~ Many find no difference between "peaks" (mountains?) and "peeks" (there's always a place for the grammar police on each and every thread here!!!)

~ Only the administrators may giveth and taketh away! (but this is not in any way a criticism of the administrators!)
