There's some homophobia in some of it, sure, but there's also a resurgence of prudism in today's society.

When you've spent your life behind a screen and on a keyboard, you never really learn to have the in-person confidence it takes to navigate things like locker rooms, public nudity, bathhouses, etc.  It's just a foreign language to them.  You can immediately see their discomfort with something they don't know.  They can't hide it.

Do 2 rinse cycles.  The new machines use very little water and can leave detergent on the clothes with only 1 rinse cycle.  I always use the 2 rinse cycle setting.
