Payment processors for sites like OFF/JFF/RM
maninsoma replied to White Daddy Top's topic in Questions About Hiring
I get wanting to keep your Rentmen subscription private, but Only Fans? They have over 300 million user accounts, about half of which are people in the USA. I don't see how it would be possible for the US government to go after subscribers in any specific way unless somehow illegal activity got uploaded to the site and you consumed it. -
Paying An Escort to Sleep and Exercise
maninsoma replied to FaustOust's topic in Questions About Hiring
I would have just stayed where I wanted to stay and let her stay where she wanted to stay. -
I don't see an ad that matches what was described, either. Quite honestly I didn't read the entirety of the original post because it read more to me like erotic fiction than reality. I'm open to being wrong about that, but the lack of an ad that matches what was described does raise my skepticism even higher. For the record, I don't think it's necessarily "internalized homophobia" that would cause some people to think it would be best not to pursue a man under these circumstances. I wouldn't do it, and not because I'm ashamed of being gay. It just sounds socially awkward.

That wouldn't be acceptable to me, either, unless you're keeping up until 3 or 4 in the morning in bed. -
Biggest controversy of my lifetime...new Cracker Barrel logo
maninsoma replied to samhexum's topic in The Lounge
I've never eaten at a Cracker Barrel, but I don't think I'm in areas very often where that's even an option. I did work at a company nearly 30 years ago that had a large contract with Cracker Barrel and I had a lot of interactions with some of their senior managers. I viewed the entire thing as rather distasteful since they had already demonstrated their anti-gay bias and the company I worked for was based in San Francisco. Wonder what those senior managers thought about having a gay man lead the team of people assigned to assist their employees with their health benefits? Not that I specifically came out to any of them, but I've been told my entire life that it's "obvious" that I'm gay so they either must have ignored those clues or just chose to accept me since they had no other choice in the moment. At any rate, it was a real drag to be in my position since their demands (and thus my employer's demands) for me and my team went way beyond what we did for other large employers. The workload was intense and the pay relatively low. I was so glad when I escaped for a much better paying job elsewhere. I couldn't care less about their logo. -
Do providers talk to each other about clients?
maninsoma replied to DMonDude's topic in Questions About Hiring
In my earlier days of hiring (about 25-30 years ago), I hired lots of guys of Asian descent who advertised on Craigslist. I know that some of them knew each other because I'd have a new guy come over and he'd tell me that another guy I had previously hired had vouched for me being a good client. This happened more than once. I'm either unlucky or I've got a negative post about me on MrNumber or elsewhere because I've had a lot more flakes over the past decade as well as more guys who simply don't reply when I contact them. I asked an escort friend to look to see if he could find any negative mention of me somewhere and he said he didn't find anything, so maybe it just is that there are more flaky guys now. -
Paying An Escort to Sleep and Exercise
maninsoma replied to FaustOust's topic in Questions About Hiring
I agree with the others saying that all of this needs to be negotiated before the engagement, not during. Since you didn't give specifics but rather generalities, it's hard to know if the escort is being unreasonable or you are. I'm a morning person, and by that I mean that I typically get up before 5 a.m. even if I have been up relatively late (for me) the night before. If I view an escort staying in bed to get a more normal amount of sleep as "sleeping in" then maybe I could get annoyed, but I certainly wouldn't fault someone for wanting closer to 8 hours of sleep even if they are on a paid weekend with someone. If you don't want to pay someone to sleep, then don't travel with a paid companion and rather just have hourly or multi-hour appointments at your destination. The way overnights and longer engagements typically work, however, is that the overall rate is much lower than if you hired multiple guys to spend an hour or two with you during the same travel period. I also think that an escort wanting some gym time during an appointment is reasonable as long as it's not longer than an hour to 90 minutes. One way to change this from being a "I'm not getting what I paid for" moment to something more pleasurable is for you to go to the gym with him. If you're not inclined to actually work out, maybe you can walk on a treadmill and watch him lifting weights, enjoying the scenery. All this isn't to say that maybe this particular escort doesn't have unreasonable expectations for alone time when he's working. If he wants to spend 10 hours sleeping and three hours of gym time I could see how most clients would find that annoying. But, again, discussing expectations in advance is key to avoiding a situation where you have hired someone whose priorities don't match yours. -
In NH, cease and desist giving your pickle away !
maninsoma replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
His stupid mistake was accepting cash. That transformed his "I'm doing this for free for family & friends" to "I'm running an unlicensed business." Normally I could join in the outrage against someone just having a minor side hustle, but if food isn't canned properly serious pathogens can grow inside the allegedly preserved food that can cause illness or death. I find it a bit disingenuous to try to compare this to selling stuff at a bake sale. At any rate, I'm sure he could resume canning without complying with the state's mandates by simply refusing to provide canned food to anyone he doesn't know personally. It isn't like the state is going to randomly serve a search warrant on his home to see if he's canning food. -
Consoling a provider who…. had plumbing issues
maninsoma replied to ThirdEye's topic in Questions About Hiring
I had the reverse happen to me. A provider was apparently so turned off about a little bit of poop (and I mean very little -- there wasn't anything visible on his sheets, just a small amount on my ass) that he ran to the shower without telling me his intentions, then returned several minutes later fully dressed, asking for full payment, and telling me to leave. I've posted this story in more detail here before, but needless to say I didn't pay him his full fee since (a) we probably spent at most 10 minutes together in bed after he insisted on spending several minutes smoking pot after I arrived and (b) even if he didn't want to continue fucking me, there were many other things we could have done. I gave him part of his fee, told him off, and left. There's an interestingly amusing sex ed series on Wow Presents Plus that features two of RuPaul's Drag Race queens (Miss Vanjie and Cameron Michaels) and a sex therapist. I still remember what the sex therapist said during an episode devoted to anal play: If you cannot handle an occasional accident, then you shouldn't be doing anal play. Not that it isn't important for a bottom to try to be as prepared as possible, but someone who freaks out along the level of what I dealt with should surely not be sticking his dick in anyone's ass. -
Funny that you abbreviated San Diego SD. The first thing that popped in my mind is South Dakota, so I was thinking that almost any escort ad there could be suspect since I doubt a lot of guys there would place an ad on Rentmen. I have to admit that I'm guilty (as are a lot of other people in my area) of assuming that everyone "knows" SF is San Francisco.

Because neither the thread title nor initial post reveal what information is in the link provided, I'll try to summarize it very generally for those who don't want to click the link just to see what it's about: The article discusses Only Fans owner's payment to himself as well as other numbers related to the site (number of content creators and user accounts, net profits) as well as a brief summary of Only Fans' ownership and what the current owner does in addition to owning Only Fans. In short, nothing particularly interesting unless you're curious about those things. I'm not sure what I expected to read there when I clicked the link, but somehow I thought maybe it would be a bit more interesting.

Providers contacting clients. Is it welcome?
maninsoma replied to + Jamie21's topic in Questions About Hiring
I've only ever had a handful of escorts contact me after an appointment. Two of them were traveling escorts so I appreciated them keeping in touch with me when they were visiting my area again so I could arrange appointments. I had an understanding with both of them that I welcomed hearing from them when they were visiting again. In a few cases, I hired the guys more than once but not enough to become a regular. I don't mind a guy reaching out after a couple of visits once or maybe twice to offer another appointment, but it does become annoying if a guy keeps texting me and I haven't returned to see him again. It's the equivalent of junk mail at that point. A few times guys have messaged me right after the appointment just to thank me for the appointment and to let me know I could contact them any time for a future appointment. I always appreciated these messages if they occurred right after the appointment and were not followed up with additional messages if I didn't reply to them. I do understand based on previous threads here that some guys don't want to be contacted at all because they feel a need to hide their hiring activity from someone and don't want random messages popping up on their phones. -
amenities include metered parking
maninsoma replied to viewing ownly's topic in Questions About Hiring
It does seem odd to add it to a list of amenities, but maybe this guy's experience is that clients are more likely to see this there than if he just mentioned it in the ad text. While not an amenity, I think it's good of him to inform clients who might not otherwise know that the guy's location only has paid parking so they can be prepared for that when visiting him. I know a lot of cities now have either meter-free paid parking (pay at a kiosk on the block or pay via a phone app), but if this guy is in an area that still has meters that require coins it's best that people know in advance they better show up with their quarters. -
In San Francisco, almost everyone maps to the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Market Street. I'm not even sure why the mapping function exists on Rent.men since it isn't accurate.

I only hired him two times and it was a long time ago, but I didn't experience any odor issue, either. The only way I can imagine bringing up the issue without being offensive is to not bring up the issue but rather to simply say that showering together at the beginning of the session is a major turn on and ask if he can accommodate that request.
-
His Rentmen ad is active now and does list a different phone number than his Rentmasseur ad. I find his Rentmen ad offputting, though, since he doesn't list anything he's into and the text basically lets you know not to expect anything from him other than spending time with him. I take it that he is selective about who he does what with or maybe he just thinks that indicating he is being paid for companionship only sidesteps legal issues, but either way I wouldn't want to hire anyone who basically says you might get nothing from them other than hanging out together.

I was horrified by the mug shot (shows how drugs can really ruin one's looks), and maybe it was included as a cautionary example of "don't let this happen to you." Still, obituaries, if they include photos, generally just show the deceased in some healthy state, not when they are at their worst.
-
You think wrong, then. I don't hope that my favorite porn performers are all straight, and I don't hope the gay ones "settle down with a wife & kids." I get your sentiment -- that once a performer leaves porn that they have a fulfilling life. I just don't think that necessarily means having a hetero-normative life.
-
Wow. That sounds much worse than what I endured. The closest thing I heard (and which makes sense) is that it's generally not wise to comment on people's looks at work at all because what you might intend as a simple compliment could be construed by someone as unwanted attention to their body.

When I was still working, I had to complete this training annually along with a lot of other trainings. It is annoying that, depending on one's work place, the people in charge of this online training have figured out ways to prevent fast forwarding and just letting the training play in one browser tab while you work in another. (The more recent trainings I saw required clicking various areas of the screen to list items one by one, answer questions, etc and then click Next before the video would resume.) It's also annoying that many of these trainings rarely change and it isn't like the material is difficult to understand. Maybe you're just annoyed so you summarized this training in a more disparaging way that is warranted, but if your harassment training really does instruct employees to do all of the things you listed then it seems like a very poor training. While it's true that people in a supervisory capacity have greater obligations to be "busy bodies" and do various interventions regarding alleged harassment, including reporting issues to HR, the responsibilities of most employees are simply to NOT engage in behavior that constitutes harassment.

Is working as an escort very risky?
maninsoma replied to charmasianman's topic in Questions About Hiring
This is especially good advice in this day and age. I was a broke-ass undergraduate student many decades ago, and that was with a part time job while attending school full time. I get the attraction of doing something more lucrative, but if you really are drawn to do this I think it would make more sense to learn massage and then advertise on a masseur website. You could always offer more in person if it feels right, and then you won't have an online footprint connecting you with sex work. You still have the issue of whether you are legally allowed to work here outside of on-campus jobs. Do you want to finish your studies here or are you willing to risk deportation because you have been working in an unauthorized capacity and that's been discovered (or reported) to ICE? -

Meet up that only led to talking a/k/a therapy. WTF
maninsoma replied to Miami305's topic in Questions About Hiring
It's horrible that this "provider" did this to you, but as others have suggested if you find yourself in a similar situation in the future then you need to be more proactive about addressing it early. If I really felt like the guy was such a mess that he wouldn't be able to perform well, I'd simply say something to that effect (more kindly, of course) and send him on his way without paying (or, if I knew he had to travel a bit to get to me, I'd give him a small amount of money for his travel efforts). I imagine saying something like, "It sounds like you have a lot of worries on your mind and this isn't a good time for you to be working. Let's do this another time when you're feeling up to it." That would still give the guy an opportunity to apologize, state that he didn't mean to go on about his personal problems, and initiate what you hired him for -- or he can leave. If he's just playing a game (trying to get paid for doing nothing but talking about himself), then he can make the decision to cut the crap and give you what you hired him for or leave. -
Has anyone hired him? I see his ad indicates he's in San Francisco right now. His rentmasseur ad has lots of positive reviews (though I know those cannot always be trusted), so I'm surprised there's no feedback on him here yet.

Actually, Donny and his brothers sang "one bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch," but I digress. I wholeheartedly believe in using the block function. I will sometimes choose to look at a post by someone I've blocked if it's in a thread where I think their contributions might be helpful, but it's nice just to not regularly see some people's negativity and pomposity.
