I have used Mounjaro, a similar drug. I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic. I chose to take it for weight loss (and insurance did not cover it). It is not a fad diet type of thing like we’ve seen in the past. It works very well (along with choosing a proper diet and plenty of exercise). I lost 50lbs using it. My mother recently started using it and it’s going well for her (she’s 1 month in).

I think some people do have ill side effects from these drugs. You have to start with a low dose and ease into to make sure you won’t have these bad side effects. If you do, simply stop the drug. It might not work for you. From what I understand, it has worked well for lots of people, way more than those you hear about in the news with the bad side effects.

For me, it suppressed my appetite. I didn’t crave foods and almost had to remember/force myself to eat. It slows digestion so you feel fuller longer. It’s an amazing drug and experience for someone who has always loved food and indulged.

I lost my weight over a 6 month period, so it wasn’t anything too fast. I think I avoided the “Ozempic face”. Lol. I also play a lot of tennis, so I think the exercise helped me from losing too much muscle mass.

mds1 reacted to SouthOfTheBorder in Is the escorting/massaging scene good in San Diego for providers?
    Isn’t that the point ?

Escorts, whether they know it or not, are creating a brand identify from the moment they enter the scene, usually by a listing on RM or similar site.  From that moment going forward, the public brand or image is shaped by site reviews, Twitter, OnlyFans, personal appearances, forums word-of-mouth & self-participation in forums like this. All of that goes to image and reputation.
I’m not sure that an escort complaining about all the typical escort issues in an online forum (that is populated by people who hire escorts) where the escorts identity is known and affects his brand or image is helpful.  Some people might think the escort is too negative and others might think too uptight/rigid. Others might just be turned off by the complaining. I don’t think it has any upside for the escort, other than if it makes them feel better by venting.

When I hire, I’m looking for a bit of an escape, adventure, fantasy & sex all rolled into one hour.  And I want it to be easy.  If there was an escort that I wanted to hire & was very public about all his complaints, troubles, frustrations, etc - i wouldn’t hire that person because maybe that negativity could show up in my appointment ?  I’d choose to hire the person who presents publicly as happy, successful, fun & sexy.  I want to maximize my chances of having a good experience and not get caught up in any provider negativity, however than manifests.

Of course everyone has struggles & challenges - it’s how a person deals with them that makes the difference. A positive mindset is everything and if that can be created, then eventually positive things start to happen. And the reverse is also true.

Great topic and very timely, as I just turned eighty.  😳
It's impressive and heartwarming to hear my fellow posters are blessed with supportive families and/or the wherewithal to keep going throughout the golden years.
Personally, I've never been much of a planner.  There's a chance a couple of my younger relatives would put me up when my cash runs out after a couple months in the Olde Poofters Home.  But it's not a sure thing.
I'm thinking my best bet might be to snuggle into a wicker basket and drop myself off at the local fire station.

mds1 reacted to Simon Suraci in Having masseur finish on your body or face
I disagree. Providers vary. Masseurs vary. They’re not all good either. The notion that a “giving” oriented provider versus one that prefers to be “worshipped” is also subjective. Some clients actually prefer the latter and seek them out specifically. I argue the majority prefer the former.
IMHO the best masseurs and providers are givers. Giving is not a role, attitude, or a specific act. It’s an orientation and a willingness to please the client, in whatever way that client actually wants (which again, can vary widely). Even being “worshipped” is giving in a way. It’s all relative to what the client wants.
It takes a special person to tune in to the nuanced needs of another and fulfill them to the client’s satisfaction. Especially if the client is not very forthcoming about everything they actually want. We often have to intuit and pivot in the moment. That takes skill, attention, experience, and a lot of awareness.
I believe @Jamie21 truly gets it. The fact that he invests so much emotional energy on each client is telling. Lots of attention and awareness, lots of giving mentality. That’s a good provider in my book.

mds1 reacted to + purplekow in Matthew Perry dies - drowning the given cause
I have a different take on this.  I do not find it strange that actors or athletes or singers may touch a person's life in a way that is disproportionate to the actual significance the interaction.  As a boy my baseball hero was Mickey Mantle which was not unusual in NYC at the time.  When he died more than 30 years later I was more affected by his death than I was with the death of some family members and others with a real world connection to my life. And the impact of his death lasted for several days.    But Mickey Mantle for me was, as a 9 year old, an aspiration and a real inspiration.  Not the real life alcoholic, misogynist, absentee father, but the person I imagined him to be, confident, capable and heroic.
I imagine many children of the 90s had a similar feeling about the cast members of Friends or perhaps other shows.  The images of these characters came into your home weekly.  They made you laugh and they had problems which were relatable to your life while not being alive at all.  The characters were not afraid to be vulnerable, they shared their secrets with you and you knew that they would be there as scheduled each Thursday.  And even now, they are there almost all day long, dancing in a fountain or hanging out endlessly at a coffee shop or dating some hot new guy or girl.
Matthew Perry seems to have done some good work with overcoming addiction and helping others to do so.  There are at least 10 people who come to counsel addicts at my hospital doing real work and saving real lives, but they do not come into my living room and tell me who they are dating.  So in that way, the real people do not seem to be nearly as real as the characters.
So those flowers are being left for the impact which that character had in their life, for the real unreal relationship that exists with the deceased and the flowers have little to do with the real person who has died.  Their involvement in this way is a credit to the work Mr Perry did professionally as an actor and that work is the main reason that most who care about  his involvement with helping others with their sobriety.  He has succeeded in getting his message across, although for most people, that realization occurred as a result of his passing.

Grinch here, too. I usually leave the house at sunset for a couple hours on Halloween so I don't have to answer the door, though trick-or-treaters are rare in my area. A locally well-known family -friendly neighborhood a couple miles from my place is much more popular, thankfully. Fortunately, I'll be on a plane all evening tomorrow until late and wont have to answer the door again this year!  I'll only need to face various airport and airline staff dressed up and feign amusement at their antics. Bah humbug!!😀

mds1 reacted to soloyo215 in Deposits and when are they ok to ask for it?
My two cents: I have seen an immense amount of discussions about the deposit thing. The thing is that there is risk on both sides regarding  the money part. Clients have gotten ripped off, and providers have gotten ripped off. I don't think that there is an definite answer or course of action that can be satisfactory for both the client and the provider, so a "hram-reduction" approach might be more suitable. My suggestion will be, as others have mentioned, if the request involves additional expenses, such as traveling and more time, a deposit seems fair to ask. If you prefer a deposit in every booking, the way you communicate it to the client might influence their agreeing or disagreeing. Probably showing undertanding of people being ripped off in the past might help the client see that not all providers have that intention (of getting something for nothing). I'd remove the [somewhat] victim mindset ("...why should I be punished for other people’s miscues and their issues with other people that doesn’t involve me"). That seems to deny your clientele and where they come from. What they have to say matters, and at the end of the day, they do have to protect their money.
As a client, when I'm asked for a deposit, I immediatelly see it as a potential red flag, but I keep the conversation going to get a sense of the level of money safety I'm dealing with. It's always going to be a risk for all parties involved.

mds1 reacted to Becket in Hiring Straight Guys(No politics)
My favorite provider is guy married to a woman. A guy with three kids. The sex is passionate and enjoyable for the both of us. I was married and had kids as well. Now I am single, and have no interest in marrying a man. I'm more of a loner; I'd rather live by myself. I prefer "straight acting" (whatever that means) providers. It just makes me more comfortable, especially in public settings. That's just me, my personal tastes. The guys I fooled around with in high school and college all would fit into the "straight acting" category. The sex and interaction with them in the bedroom was usually passionate and full of energy. It was clear they were enjoying the gay sex. With only one exception those guys have all gone on to have wives and kids and "traditional" lives and family. Are they gay? Straight? Bi? Whatever! Call them what you want. Call me whatever you want. You do you. What you need. What makes you happy and comfortable. I'll do me. No politics. No confining labels. Just different strokes for different folks.

I saw Cavra on a recent trip to Chicago. He required a deposit for an advanced booking, but you can take your chances and see if he’s available on a moment’s notice without a deposit if you prefer.
My only complaint is that he didn’t really adhere to the time we agreed upon. But once he did show up, I really enjoyed his company. He’s a nice guy and his body is incredible. He looks just like the pictures. I’d certainly hire again if he was in my area.

What do you guys prefer during an encounter? A quick strip naked or more slow? I like a lot of foreplay so I like taking my time and savoring every moment. Ripping off all the clothes right away feels kind of rushy. Maybe it depends too on how long you are hiring for? If it's just an hour you don't have too much time and need to cut to the chase! 😅

mds1 reacted to Boink in WHO SAW ME 👀
This reminds me of a situation I found myself in a hundred years ago. Way before the internet, when I was a puppy, I remember lusting over a particular classified ad, probably in LA's Frontiers Magazine (remember that?)  One night I finally worked up the nerve to call his number. A sexy voice answered "Hello?" and I froze. Paralyzed in shyness, I hung up immediately, without saying a word. Immediately my phone rang back. I knew he had "star 69ed" me. (Remember that?) I felt so guilty about hanging up on him, I just couldn't ignore him again, so I picked up. He sounded so nice, so reassuring, so friendly (and sexy) that I let him talk me into meeting.  And, boy, I was so glad he did. He was all that and more!
So I guess I have nothing against a provider contacting me if I've shown interest. Not that it happens very often! 🙂
