Derek Atlas Review

See this review covered a meeting from back in January. I've been following DA on twitter for a while, and it seems like every so often it seems he goes a little off the rails. This last week or so he's been drinking heavily and doing other type of pharms (stated or implied on his account). So if you make an appointment with him during these 'phases' you'd better go to plan B. I've gotten off to him in many of his vids, I find him extremely attractive, but even if I were in Vegas and he sat down next to me at a slot machine and offered himself for a session, I'd turn him down.

Applaud the reviewer for the balls to write what seemed to be a very honest account of his experience. Not that surprised about Atlas. Have seen his pics for years, but something always made me hesitate. And that response, fucking classic. All the client's fault.... classy. Affection of the miserable.... maybe he was using the word like Hillary? The deplorables? Doubt it.

 

Whata dick. And not even a hard one at that. But he sure shot himself in it with that response.

It would have been better for Derek as well - it would not have led to this very public showdown.

 

There are always 2 sides to a story. I don't subscribe to the theory that 'the client is always right'. This can be a job with high pressure to perform, and not always under ideal circumstances. That doesn't mean I approve of the tone and content of Derek's response. Maybe someone ought to organize a course 'customer service for escorts' or 'basic sales techniques in the escorting business'. It would benefit many, including Derek.

 

 

The problem in this case is human nature. Pretty people can get away with things a lot easier than we trolls can. It's probably not unreasonable to think that if Derek is this handsome now he might have been extremely handsome from high school on. So if he's always been treated as a pretty person, then he expects to get away with things. And obviously, at least by stereotype, gays are obsessed with external appearances. So Derek continually gets away with his 'Bad Boy' behavior because even if there's one gay client who won't ever risk seeing him again, there's always a new gay client willing to take the risk because of his looks.

 

With a lot of escorts I'm always reminded of that 30 Rock episode when Liz Lemon has the extremely good looking boyfriend played by Jon Hamm. Everybody treats him special*, and he doesn't realize it. Liz has him wear facial bandages. And all of a sudden he's treated normally. He thinks people are being mean to him. (I wish I could find that clip to play it here. But I've looked. ).

* I need a grammar maven here. 'Special' sounds better to me here. But I think it's an adverb modifying 'treat'. So should I have written 'specially' instead?

I think "specially" is correct. Put "wonderfully" there and it works, whereas "wonderful" does not.

 

I was about to mention that episode as well until I read the rest of your response and you covered it. I think the episode is called "The Bubble", from the virtual bubble that Jon Hamm's character lives in due to his being really really really good-looking. I remember Liz asking for some special order at a restaurant, and the waitress shut her down. John Hamm asked for the same special and the waitress fawned over him. Then he asked for it with the menu covering his face and got shut down as well?

Mr. Atlas is in a business. Good business practices include customer service and satisfaction. What amazes me is that Mr. Atlas, knowing that his response would be published in THE most popular escort review site, would choose to dismiss and disparage not only a past customer but ALL FUTURE CUSTOMERS (the so-called "miserables"). Considering that he has had previous positive reviews, I am guessing that he wrote his response either in haste or under-the-influence, or both. There is a price to pay for arrogance.

A shocking response to the review. Very unwise. Derek himself just did more damage to his own reputation than the reviewer possibly could have. I have read measured and dignified rebuttals to unfavorable reviews. This, however, is a great example how not to respond.

 

I spent two fun and satisfying hours with Derek. I found him to be a bit full of himself, but in a sexy way, and his self confidence was matched by his performance. I had no complaints.

 

Here he comes off as a flippant and arrogant jerk who disrespects his clients. Sad.

Actually after reading his response a second and third time, I believe he knew exactly what he was saying. It was not off the cuff. It was a blatantly honest assessment of how he runs his business. He admitted everything the client said was true and feels no angst at his treatment of the client. So in this case there is no other side to the story, no misinterpretation of facts.

 

My guess he will continue to have many clients because that is how they want to be treated. Who knows he may make some statement on here and apologize and we can all say wow that took guts, Bah humbug! He just wants your money with the least amount of service. There are times you have to wonder how many other guys feel just like Derek Atlas but not quite so honest to the public about it.

Trust me there are guys in this hobby way hotter than DA, with better bodies, faces, asses, and dicks, with better attitudes about their clientele.

Even if the reviewer was not assertive enough, DA's response was full on with the smug jackassery. There is no discounting that. He even admitted in his response he was not in top form that night... but who cares... DA doesn't. To paraphrase Dave Chappelle as Rick James, "I'm Derek Atlas bitch!"

In the interest of getting something constructive out of this experience I'd encourage this client, if he reads the Forum, to not be deterred and find a companion with whom he really has some chemistry. There are some really great guys out there who will knock your socks off!

My second-ever hiring experience was a similar disaster and it took me a while to get back up on the horse again but I'm really glad I did - I've met lots of terrific guys . . .

BUT knowing his erratic behavior and reputation I quickly dispelled that notion and hired someone else.
