Are my standards higher, or is the selection worse?

I have the feeling that the selection of masseurs is really bad at the moment. I remember years ago there were so many good guys who at least made an effort, and I don't remember having to worry so much about whether sensuality was included, whether I was being catfished, or whether someone was trying to scam me.

I used to have a lot of great experiences and ended up with quite a few regulars. Now it feels like the opposite. Even my current regulars aren't people I found on the usual sites.

I still scan through the guys available, but there aren't many new ones I'm interested in trying. And when I do see someone I like, I come here, read the comments, and end up passing on most of them. 😂

I'm not sure if the quality really has gone downhill, or if it's just me getting older and having so much experience hiring masseurs that my standards are much higher than they used to be.

Anyone else feel like the selection was much better back in the day?

I think both are true. Heavy photo filtering, AI-enhanced images, deposit scams, and identity theft have become increasingly common across classified sites. At the same time, many newer providers seem to treat their listings more like casual apps than a professional business, resulting in poor communication and little attention to atmosphere, presentation or client rapport. But my personal baseline has also changed. When I first started hiring masseurs, the novelty alone made a good session feel extraordinary, and mediocre experiences were easier to overlook. Now I have an internal benchmark of top-tier regulars against which I compare everyone else. I also have what I’d call veteran intuition. After years of doing this, my pattern recognition picks up on subtle red flags, inconsistencies in profiles, questionable reviews and other warning signs that I probably would have overlooked or simply not recognized a decade ago. That skepticism is doing its job by saving me money and wasted afternoons but it also makes the active market feel barren.

I'm not sure on masseurs but as I've said before on here with rentmen providers the selection is worse lately. There were so many porn stars it seemed like on rentmen and once covid happened a lot got into onlyfans or webcamming during that time to make money and never returned. It's gotten a tad better lately though. What sucks for me here in Buffalo is barely any providers from Toronto come down here with the facial recognition system being used at the border.

Because the lines are blurred.  Masseurs who post thirst trap photos are essentially escorts for the right price. Straight masseurs are not on Rentmasseur.

What makes the selection worse is the higher volume of men that advertise who have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They are hopeful you're equally as clueless, and some are. 

Having standards to want a great massage, and more if that's your thing, isn't difficult to locate. Plenty of advertisers have great reviews that date back for years, and wouldn't be in the business if they didn't have devoted repeat clientele. 

I have insta-eliminate standards with ads, regardless of how attracted I am to him. A middle finger or two directed at me, a forked tongue stuck out of the mouth, or no picture of a face = never. All three at once - well.....

Anyway, what’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Masseur / Provider / Escort in this place doesn’t matter. I like this place and could willingly lose my time in it.
