APPLE.NEWS Meet the couples who are redefining what it means to be in a relationship, including those in gay-straight and... I couldn't read the article, but two thoughts come to mind on the subject: I can understand a couple remaining married after one realizes they are gay, and not just duplicitously. I had a therapist decades ago who was gay but still married to his wife of a couple of decades because they had a strong friendship and didn't want to disrupt their family. Some people marry for reasons other than sex and love. I knew a gay man and a lesbian who -- again decades ago -- married each other to get their families off their backs and to ensure they wouldn't be cut out of their parents' wills due to being gay. If this article is about two people getting married where he already knows he's gay and she's straight, unless it's done for some practical reason it does seem odd to me. + Charlie and + KensingtonHomo 2

+ Charlie Posted October 11 Posted October 11 I have known closeted gay men who married women, but the marriage usually ended after the man came out--e.g., my brother-in-law's step children are his husband's children by his former wife (and they are all open about the relationships). I also know men who married women before they came to terms with their own sexuality. But I have never known an openly gay man who married a straight woman, or an openly gay woman who married a straight man.
samhexum Posted October 11 Posted October 11 (edited) I don't know if it was this particular article but I read about them a couple of days ago. They are longtime besties. There was another couple mentioned in the article I read consisting of two female best friends, one of whom is asexual. jeezifonly Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Lawful Marriage is a State-issued business contract between two individuals. Nothing in the contract specifies who the two must or must not be, aside from not being in a similar contract with another person at the time. The great part is that the qualitative parameters within one couple's life under contract have no forced effect on any other couple's qualitative parameters. + BOZO T CLOWN Posted October 11 Posted October 11 Straight women marrying gay men has been a time honored tradition for generations... especially among Hollywood celebrities. Just ask Judy Garland and Liza Minelli. Martha Raye and Vivian Vance both had gay husbands.. and were very happy, by all accounts. It's a lot more common than you think. And nothing weird about it. In this case she knew he was gay beforehand. A spiritualist of some type told her that he was her soulmate. I guess I'm just too conventional. I'm not overly fond of Reese's. Don't get me wrong. My Santa Claus bod will def eat multiple pieces at a time if offered. But they aren't something I'd usually choose on my own. I'd be much more likely to pick them if they had some caramel thrown in the mix.
