How come providers don't answer calls?

Every single time I have answered a call it has been someone jerking off.

Absolutely, this!

In the end, it's still a time=money thing. For a phone call, I need to drop everything for an indeterminate amount of time--Time I won't be getting paid for. And to @SecretProvider's point, there are lots of fake clients out there that are just trying to get free phone sex.

My rule is I'll do ONE 15 minute call if a client really wants to get a feel for what my 'vibe' is like before committing to a booking. But that's it. Most providers I know won't even do that much.

And by the way, back in the phone days, you would be calling some agency to book, probably talking to some frumpy old lady, not the provider directly. And that lady would be getting paid to answer that phone.

Exactly!  I wish people who insist on phone calls would understand this concept.

I answer calls. I’ve a few regular clients who prefer to book via phone. These guys tend to be the older ones who are ‘old school’.  However, it is inconvenient because often I won’t be able to answer, so it’s a missed call. Guys tend not to want to leave voice messages. So much easier to simply text or WhatsApp and I’ll respond when I’m able to. I think the other reason some guys like a call is because they can ask questions they’d be reluctant to put in a text!

Voice isn't any more private than e2e encrypted text like WhatsApp. Basically, governments will find a way to read it if they want either way.

I’m thinking it’s more about their partner, and so are they!

Also, people are very quick to say the government is incompetent in most things yet seem absolutely confident that the government has the organisation, coordination and will to listen in to some random guys call with an escort! The government isn’t interested. At least ours isn’t because sex work is legal here. I’m sure they have other more important things to worry about.

Totally agree with what Jamie said. I answer calls, but not random unexpected ones. All I ask is for clients to schedule a mutually agreeable time for their call. Then I will pick up.

It’s easy to schedule a call using text to request a time. Or email, or whatever platform they are contacting me on. If they are totally averse to written communication, they can simply leave me a voicemail and I will call them back when I am able. I leave them a voicemail when they can’t take my call right away.

I don’t understand why this is so complicated. I think part of the problem is that some clients expect us to be available at any time they want. We aren’t.

It really is the only job I can think of where people expect you to be on-call ALL THE TIME. Even ER doctors are only on the hook for a defined period of time where they can be called in.
