Completely lacking in humility and any self-awareness, this 22 yo Chicago Rentboy shares his monthly expenses ($13,300+)  with us. Let's hope he's banking some of that cash before he hits his 30s.

I mean, he's young and working the social media angle.  It's all for the views/likes.

If he's lucky, he'll eventually save and invest.

Also, if he's lucky, he'll develop an actual level of good taste and not just go for expensive shiny shit.

As a rentboy in my 20s, I did some of this.  Spent $15k a month on random garbage, travel, cars, food, etc.  Hindsight being 20/20, I'd have dumped most of it into my portfolio and doubled my money, but what's done is done.

It was, however, a very fun few years of complete irresponsibility :)

I think it has more to do with being smart than having 'luck'. If he's smart enough, he will save and invest (and engage in a trusted financial adviser who is not his client). If he's smart enough he will develop a level of good taste via learning from others - and not just buy the tacky shit thinking he's 'impressive'. It looks like he's very impressionable by name brands on garbage.

I think it's a generational thing. I find it tacky and even dangerous (doesn't he realize that there are people out there trying to know who has money and who doesn't?). However, like BenjaminNicholas pointed out, to them, getting views, likes and social media fame is very important, maybe more important than their own privacy or safety.

The action of posting his finances is not a turnoff for me, nor do I care about what people decide to do with the money they make, nor I'm nobody to feel that he should or should not make a given amount of money. That's just none of my business. However, the immaturity about sharing this information about his own money may transfer into other aspects, such as sharing information about his clients, which is a major issue to me.

How do I know that he might get the "wonderful" idea of posting information about his clients, just to get views and likes?

So long as you're not a client of his, wouldn't his 'sharing information about his clients' also fall under your list of 'none of my business' ? Why would that be a major issue to you if you have no business dealings with him ?

I honestly don't understand the personal concern on your part. (If I was one of his clients, I'd worry).

This Rentboy has 'a few businesses' at 22 (wink, wink) and here is how he starts his day, managing his businesses...

I'm not someone who spends frivolously but when it comes to others, honestly who cares? It's really none of our business if he's literally flushing his cash down a toilet because it's his money. There are some men here who will easily spend 6 figures a year hiring escorts and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would say that's a huge waste of money, but it doesn't matter.

Let the young be dumb. Some people get so judgemental with age and act as if every decision they've made has been stellar.

.....Like the IRS.

I hope he's claiming an income and not just spending the cash.

Because this video reeks of "arrest me" if he's not paying income tax.

I wonder if this is why he has his 'other business' set up (I guess it is supposed to be a 'cosmetics' business ?) - to hide behind if the IRS comes knocking ?

By sharing all this on Insta, and asking viewers for 'budgeting tips', he's making this anyone's  business. He wants us to care about how he's spending his money, and asks for help ("So if you have any budgeting tips, post them down below", he says.) How much one cares is an individual's decision.

If he said 'This is how I spend my money, so don't judge me' , then that would be a different scenario.

What I don't understand - he said his rent includes a gym as one of the amenities, yet he pays $500+ for an outside gym membership (he was paying around $200/mo but then it went up when he changed to the 'Chicago' location). Why not use the gym on the premises ?

I assume the gym in his building is good enough for most people but not people seriously into body building.  For example, I think the maximum dumbbell weight in my condo gym is 70 pounds; more than I'll ever need, but I definitely saw guys using heavier weights when I went to an actual gym.  In terms of weight plates, I also don't think there are enough of those in high enough weights to provide a challenge to serious weightlifters.  There's also not a lot of room to work out due to all of the equipment in the gym.

But the other reason might be that he likes the social scene of the gym.  Where I live, there generally are only a couple of people in the gym at any one time.  There were more people at the real gym I used to go to at 4:00 a.m.!

He clearly isn't looking for budgeting help. He's looking for attention. Any grown adult with common sense can see that.

I'm not going to try and second-guess him, I'm just going by what he asks for in his Insta...and that's tips for budgeting his enormous income.

The outside gym may afford more opportunities to meet prospective "clients" for his "business."
