Level of Competition

Has anyone ever noticed the level of competition in L.A./West Hollywood alone for gorgeous, muscular male escorts?  I look at RM and am gobsmacked by all the beautiful men I can't decide!  I am experiencing choice anxiety.  I know some are better than others, good ones can have a bad day once in a while, and the cost is a matter. . . but holy cow!  I know the first thing to do is list who has awakened my gonads with their RM ad and wait for replies.    But even then, whom do I choose?  I'm like a kid in a candy store:  I want that one, and that one, and that one over there, and that blonde . . . that one, oh he's pretty . . . and on and on and on.  Here are but a few eclectic choices:

Must say, I doubt it’s anything “new” or unknown. LA is the west coast version level of competition that rivals New York. It’s always been that way since I’ve started. RentBoy back in the day used to have something like 300-400 profile. It’s one of the most, and likely most: competitor provider cities in the country.

Doesn’t mean one can’t have fun, but from an escort perspective: all that candy 🍭 could give you a toothache if not properly approached. I would likely suggest just contacting one guy at a time, being in no particular rush however…having a time frame in mind. Today? What time of day? Next week, which days? Something of that line.

Don’t reach out to multiple providers in a day. Be patient and wait for the guy to get back to you, and generally allow 24 hours to complete an exchange. 4 hours at minimum. 2 hours at absolute minimum. If you start messaging a bunch of guys and then pick the one you want, you’ll come off like a flake. This is not hookup apps or any of those other timewasting sites where wasting time is part of the deal. Timewasting is not part of the deal with escorting, as some like to believe. It’s just become a common situation that has not been properly mitigated by websites. Give each guy a chance to discuss what they offer, and make a proper yes or no plan. They may not be interested in you, you may not be interested in them.

That’s why I started asking $20 for a consultation. It’s not to be greedy, it’s just I understand: it’s not always as simply as “rate? Come over now? Room number?” I have to set aside at least 30 minutes to figure out what a client wants or needs.

I do agree with Jarrod if you're in your own city. But if you are travelling to LA and only have a limited amount of time,  I don't think it's bad to contact a few guys. In my experience (in travel generally but this actually happened to me in LA specifically), many guys don't get back to your quickly and even when they do, they are sometimes the one to flake on you.

I was in LA once for a weekend and thought I had a guy all lined up but he actually ended up doing a porn shoot instead.  had my eyes on a couple other guys but by the time I got there, they were either busy already or also didn't get back to me. I ended up with another guy last minute who was alright but who lived much further away from my hotel, wouldn't travel and the whole thing was just a lot more work that I wanted it to be.

On a recent trip to DC I actually did reach out to a few providers (including Jarrod who is the guy I ended up with) and certainly I felt bad when another guy reached out to me a bit too late (I actually contacted him right before my trip but he didn't get back to me until I got there after I had already made another appointment). But I just was straightforward and said that I had booked an appointment with another guy already but would definitely reach out if I returned to DC again. To his credit, the other guy seemed understanding and legitimately I will reach out to him if I see him if I visit another city where he's at.

I do think there is a risk if I did that repeatedly that I would be labeled a "flake," but I think it's okay to reach out to a couple of guys you're interested in and go for the one that seems to respond both more quickly. It really is not a bad idea to have a "backup" in case it doesn't work out on his end. I would only do max 2-3 guys because more than that you're going to inevitably disappoint someone.

MaxME must be Eastern European.  He looks like Melania - pointed face, cheekbones.

All this talk about competition lately lol. From a provider standpoint, you can either whine and moan about it or welcome it and allow it to make everybody strive to be better. I think it's great!

It sounded like the poster was posting from a client standpoint though, and perhaps saying the competition he has of “picking” guys?

Good point, and yes that was fun! First Denver and then D.C., might have to be somewhere 🏝️ 🏔️ else next year 😜

I get it though, when you’re traveling you have less time to arrange things and someone could potentially fall thru. I still think having some sort of imaginary time frame would help, but I also imagine some clients only take a certain amount of time in a day, and just reach out to a couple and talk to a couple. Though I generally seem to connect only with the ones who have been checking me out for awhile, and are pretty set with arranging a visit with me once I get to their area or mine.

Precisely why I said from a "provider" standpoint. And I still applauded👏🏽  his post.

Gotcha…

…I mean, I suppose. I don’t think talking about competition in a city though is whining or moaning. Like me for example, I’ve had to learn more than once: running out to the biggest city like it’s a designer label, was not the smart thing to do. I used to think, “ooo there’s LOTS OF ESCORTS THERE, I’LL DO GREAT”. I would end up spending more, and getting less. Less serious clients and less money.

Now, I move more carefully and go to cities that aren’t as heavily competitive. I still go to the big cities, but with strategy and limitations. Like when I did DC, I only did it because friends were going. I didn’t do it solely as a biz trip, however I was doing it as a biz journey for myself.

At the same time, some cities have next to 0 competition but equally don’t have much business either. Just have to be strategic, but doesn’t mean it’s whining if I say I would never work in Los Angeles without advanced booking, and Kansas City used to be good but now there’s so many more ads that I don’t even make much money here. That’s not whining, it’s just facts of the matter 🤷🏾‍♂️ I travel every week or 2, so I’m doing something about it at least.

I wholeheartedly agree with you talking about competition in a city is one thing and whining and moaning about competition in a  city is a completely separate thing.... for instance I spoke about competition in a city  but it was in no way, shape or form, whining, or moaning, quite the contrary.

It would make sense that there's zero competition in a city with next to zero or next to zero business.

It can be very fun but also very dangerous from a financial point of view. I'm not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. I mean, sure the homeless and the paycheck-to-paycheck types will think I'm rich but considering the average home in LA is north a million, I'm poor. 🤪

I've already spent well over my budget for this year on gorgeous men. Now I need a sugar daddy. Any wealthy guys in LA want a sugar baby in their 40s lol?

LA is so spread out. Travel time for outcalls could really impact business.

Like Houston....  it's best if they cum to you ( wherever a provider is "posted"  🆙

When I reach out to put together a meet-up, my first ask is about how far ahead they prefer to book. I will have done research, cross-referencing multiple ads on different platforms and reviews or mentions here. So I do reach out to more than one provider at a time, a week or more out from the day I want to schedule.

If a provider asks a fee to answer that question, his row on the Excel spreadsheet is deleted

I must say regardless of how asinine someone may think or feel about it: Come next week, my phone numbers will likely be down. Because last thing I wanna do is responding to Timewasters who are bored or angry with family over Thanksgiving and Black Friday, and want to take it out by using a provider for free entertainment. Absolutely not.

Retail is expecting to increase staffing a lot this holiday season, so your timing may be just perfect!  😘🎄🎅🏼

Regarding PapiMuscle in that list, avoid him. Made an appointment, drove out to him and even confirmed when I was 10 minutes away. When I arrived to the hotel he stopped responding, wasted a long drive. He sends a text half a day later to say "sorry" with no explanation.
