Is an automatic reply on RM instant messaging good for business?

The instant messaging system on rent men could be annoying. Many effortless communications saying "hi", "what's up", etc every time you click enter a message goes through. I know guys who have an automatic reply suggesting contact by phone or text. Is that a good idea for business? Would potential clients even bother reading it and switch to texting? I've been told it's a good way to separate guys who are truly interested from the usual time waters, bargain seekers and PNP teasers.

I think preferred contact method is essential in an automated message. After all, the very nature of the automated message typically says 'I prefer not to communicate here."

However, if you do have automated message that gives additional info, and you prefer RM instant messaging, I also see nothing wrong with saying "if you are still interested, message me back here" at the end of the automated message.

If an automated message tells me a different preferred way to communicate, I’m fine with it. I sometimes find the way rates are listed in the automated messages offputting but I can’t exactly tell you why some do and don’t. On the whole, I don’t care for them.

If the shoe were on the other foot, and I reached out when I had time to plan a meetup, but didn’t hear anything back until I was otherwise engaged, and had my messages or texts set to an automated reply, I suspect a provider would consider me uninterested even if I am.

That's a great idea!

I like it when providers have their rates and travel info in the automated messages. Helps reduce some of the texting back and forth.

Unfortunately RM doesn't allow in the USA for rates to be displayed in the ad.

I think it is great when the automated message has useful information, such as preferred communication method, rates, best time to contact, etc. It is also helpful when a guy mentions the frequency with which he checks messages and an expected response window. Otherwise, it is pretty pointless.

RM is a mix of serious clients, time-wasters and fellow escorts mistaking it for Grindr.

A well-writ autoreply saves time, trouble and patience.  If someone can't send a quick email over regarding their interest in meeting, it's not meant to be.

For me, it's been a huge help in consolidating communication to one specific place.

Call me crazy, but I think it is by far more preferable for the escort to state his preferred method of contact in the body of the ad itself.  Thus removing any guesswork.

RM Auto Message allows you to add your rates, which U.S. ads don't. That's why I found it immensely time saving, both for myself and for the provider.

Thus, one might write in the body of ones ad: "I prefer you contact me through the RM messenger feature."

Another annoyance about those automatic replies: If I want to see additional private photos on a model's profile, I am instructed that I must submit a request to that provider. Apparently that request goes to their RM Chat feature. More often than not, these days, I'll get the automatic reply prompting me to contact the provider at their number. Well sometimes I'd just like to see some additional pics to help me determine whether I want to contact them directly.

It's little things like this that lead potential clients to be accused of wasting the provider's precious time. It keeps us 'potential'.

Most serious clients simply text the provider to his number.

Bringing back contact by email might be an alternative, unfortunately contact by IM is simply annoying.

This may not pertain to those who have limited or no nudes posted: but in my case I already have an array of pics and people still ask me for private pics without even greeting me.

I stopped unlocking pics long time ago. The requests get my auto reply with all relevant information. If and when RM decide to pay us to have our private gallery unlocked, then I’ll entertain. For now, it’s just simply MY private gallery where I release pics I want to move to public, and rotate out.

But I had to go thru last year and deny like hundreds of requests to unlock…many who have no picture of their own.

My business is not a free peep show. Even though, for the most part they are getting exactly that. But I just try to stay true to the game and still show people what is relevant.

And majority never do. That’s the sad part about it. And the ones who do text, 99/100 be playing games too. That’s why I had to revamp my auto reply as stated to eliminate ANY possible confusion or non sense:

like huh? Who said I was staying anywhere? No introduction or anything. Like I’m just supposed to give out an address? This is why they get auto responses.

Wow.  Everyone stays somewhere, even if they're home.  Perhaps this is someone who might not be comfortable supplying personal information, if the answer to the initial question is unsatisfactory.  Perhaps that's why no intro and why he's using RM messaging.  He's not asking for an address, but most likely a part of town.  In a large metropolitan area, it matters to many of us and could be a deal killer.  By getting it out of the way early, this is the opposite of a game player.  I see this as someone who is asking a legitimate question and not getting an answer.

As to the OP's question, if I took the time to reach out to a potential provider and got an auto-reply and nothing else, I would probably move on.  To me, it says "I don't want to deal with you unless I have to."

Meh, I know it sounds like a reasonable question…but it’s not. It’s not the question that’s the problem, it’s the way it’s being asked. It’s creepy, lazy, and gives me absolutely no reason to give out anything about where I’m staying.

People who don’t formulate complete sentences in a response usually aren’t serious or, 50/50 chance of being so. Also, since the person hasn’t volunteered any info on themselves…I have to ask something. Suppose I just give out my location, to a complete random from RM messenger, and he has bad intentions. How would anyone know who he was. Why do you think it took Jeffrey Dahmer so long to be found…

This is where being educated and informed…even if there is no danger present, comes in handy.

I'm really stunned by this.  If I ask you for a location in the wrong way, you think I could be the next Jeffrey Dahmer?  You're going to have to give up this info at some point unless you only do out calls.  I hope I'm misunderstanding your meaning.  I'm not offended, just surprised.

I'll repeat what I said before: he's probably asking for a general location which is fair and should be provided.  I get your safety concerns, so maybe you don't give up the specific location until as close to the appointment time as possible (like maybe an hour before) and only after final confirmation the appointment will happen and share all meeting info with a trusted friend.  Otherwise, do only out calls.

Sadly, this is an example of communication in the texting generation.  When I encounter this with a potential provider, I just move on.

I won't respond here anymore to keep the conversation on topic.  My apologies for letting the conversation stray.

Jeffrey Dahmer is just one possibility. Other possibilities is cop, time waster, cheap guy with only $100 to pay for bareback, list goes on. Fact is: non of it is good intent IF the person asks my location ON RENTMEN MESSENGER IN HIS FIRST EMAIL.

I deal with this shit all the time. I use Grindr sometimes. I can tell a fake dude from a real one. The “where you at” guys are likely weirdo creepers. They may not be dangerous or ill intent, but they just don’t have the right motives. When does anyone ever start a conversation with “where are you located” without disclosing anything about themselves?

I’m not saying clients have to be perfect communicators in every way, but it’s the basic things that matter. When my auto reply went to him, he should have texted me and responded to the questions asked.

Many of these guys choose to ignore basic instructions, which just creates miscommunication and resentment.

Female escorts asks for WAAY more than I do. They want employment, linked in, ID, references. Gay clients need to get with the program. I’m not even asking half of those things, and these guys turn their nose up.

Again, as discussed in previously closed thread: I think a big issue of a lot of my roadblocks is the area. These Midwestern, sheltered dudes have absolutely no game or skill on how to approach a male sex worker of color. It’s hard work. I recognize that, but I hate when people on the forum try to denigrate and dismiss the difficulty of it.

Once I get to a more conducive market, hopefully this stuff will be in the past.
