Any of you get kicked off Seeking Arrangements?

Before leaving to spend Christmas with his family on the East Coast, my beau suggested I might hire someone, so we went through some RM profiles to make sure he didn't know any of the guys I might hire. So I make an appointment with this one guy, and on the day of the appointment, he called to say he was having severe abdominal pain, so asked to cancel. He ends up spending over 11 hours in the ER, and the doctor, without even talking to him, let alone examining him, just sends him to the CT scanner and gives him morphine (again, before even seeing him). I was in touch with him by text, and recommended a bunch of tests (blood, urine, stool). At the conclusion of the ordeal, the doc says "You have colitis caused by some sort of infection. It'll get better on its own," and sends him home with an Rx for nausea and diarrhea, without ordering any tests to really find out the cause of the colitis.

In agony, the next morning, he calls me in and asks if he should go back to the ER. He has only Medi-Cal insurance, so we worked on trying to get appointments at the LGBT Center or at the Hollywood-Sunset clinic but the former couldn't seem him until January, and the latter was also closed for the rest of the year. So I agree to see him in my house to order the tests, rather than see him suffer in the ER, where he was likely to get poor care again. I told him that from his history, exam, and CT findings, the most likely diagnosis was a first episode of ulcerative colitis, though there were other possibilities, and he definitely needed to get a bunch of labs, and, ultimately, a colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.

While at my house, he asked how my partner and I met, and I told him Seeking Arrangements. He lamented that he had an account on that site, but they kicked him off because one of the photos he used was taken from a porn site, so they accused him of soliciting prostitution, although he assured me the text of his profile didn't suggest anything of the sort. I'm wondering if any of you have gotten kicked off SA, and for what reason. Did any of you get banned from that site because you used a (not nude) photo which could be traced to a porn site?

Incidentally, we're still waiting on his stool tests, but his blood and urine tests so far are more suggestive of ulcerative colitis than infection. If the stool tests rule out infection, I'll treat him for UC while he waits for his gastroenterologist. His appointment is on 1/30/23! At least with the labs done, hopefully the GI doc will be able to schedule him for colonoscopy, and not have to make another follow-up appointment to go over labs.

Most important thing first: Thank you for treating this man. He's fortunate you were his prospective client.

I was not kicked off SA, but I did have my profile text flagged for "inappropriate content." A guy I contacted was required to change his profile text for mentioning is career in porn (I think he said "adult entertainment"). He started on the site long before they nixed sexual content. He thinks they gave him a warning rather than kick him off because he had been a member for so long.

I got a 3 day suspension for asking “are you offering escort services?”

And I thought it impertinent of you @Coolwave35

You wrote at vast length @Unicorn to ask a simple question. There is a particularly extensive thread (74 pages and counting) on Seeking in The Deli already, and people have posted there about being barred or suspended for inappropriate content or language. Why start anew?

Seeking arrangements is just another part of the sex for hire industry. I've never understood why escorts are looked down on. I've even heard this from Porn Stars. The only thing that separates the professions is one has a camera in the room.

Interesting. It seems they treat paying clients with much softer gloves. The prospective "sugar-babies" seem to get much harsher treatment. Follow the $$ I guess. When I was active on SA (not since I met my partner, obviously), I met lots on an escort-type basis, but those were things I discussed once we connected by text, voice, or e-mail. After meeting, some wanted ridiculous amounts of money, so some wastes of time.

No kidding.  The rest of the post has nothing to do with the SA question.  He turned what should have been a two line post into War and Peace.

Well, at least I'm glad to be compared to the great Lev Tolstoy (his friends called him Lev). Some posters always seem to have something negative to say. Perhaps those posters could make a new year's resolution to be more positive for 2023! 😉

Reminded me of Marcel Prust mixed with John O'Hara

But if you asked someone to accompany you for a month-long trip, that’s presumably ok. How many sessions does it take before “escort services” becomes a proper arrangement?

What’s worse is I was responding to his message. He said something along the lines of “I want to be blindfolded and have you fill my holes daddy.”  It was a little out of the ordinary for seeking so I asked the clarifying question “are you offering escort services” and I got a 3 day punishment. Other sites have banned me for 30 days for less egregious offenses so I considered myself lucky.

Not his friends but all Russians actually. Leo is just the Anglicized form of his name. And you were unfavorably compared to Count Tolstoy.

There are very few indeed who do not compare unfavourably to Tolstoy.

I see you may have a difficult time recognizing sarcasm. And--if you want to get technical--I never said I was compared favorably to Tolstoy.

To be pedantic, a comparison to something is neither favourable nor unfavourable, it simply notes similarity; it is a comparison with something that enumerates the differences and whether one is better. Of course a comparison to something could relate to one characteristic, say how concise a writer's prose was, and not to all the characteristics of the object of the comparison.

I'm not sure that there have been too many failures to recognise sarcasm.

No, just enough.

When I emailed asking what gives, I got no response.

Yikes! So you were a paying customer (sugar daddy)? It sounds like it may be some rogue software, perhaps? Hopefully now that the holidays are over, you'll get a response... If there's no intelligent human being at the other end, they'll be losing a lot of their base.

Your posting reminded me vaguely of the occasional grammar lessons from the character "Sheldon" on the US TV show The Big Bang Theory, which would be playing while I was exercising on the cross-trainer. I don't know if that show ever made it down under, but the character was played as someone on the spectrum who liked to insert pedantic comments here and there.

I will confess that every time someone titles a string as "Anybody into astrology?" instead of "Any of you into astrology?" I'm tempted to respond "Yes, but I'm definitely not one of those people." And of the many thousands of times I had patients ask questions such as "Does colchicine give you diarrhea?" only once did I ever respond with "Of course not. I don't take colchicine." Of course, that was a patient I knew extremely well, and she laughed, as I predicted she would. Of course I hope you don't infer that I'm implying any comparison to or with you and Sheldon... 😂
