Thank god, the only person I could talk to on the internet back then was a random email penpal who was in a college in Nebraska. I loved sharing “NYC through the eyes of a newbie" with him. And he loved living vicariously through me. I’m sure much of what I wrote could be misconstrued as racism today. But just like this kid, it was just "culture shock" not racism. Given the opertunity to grow and mature, this kid could have learned to love NYC and it’s myriad of cultures and quirks. Instead he got a harsh life’s lesson about being honest and posting anything even remotely personal online. What assholes. God help us. He knows, or should know, where the lines are. He comes off as a social media troll with his having to video bodegas and reference the NAACP to reinforce his slurs. If they truly were committed to being a company where all can succeed, they would have taken Green aside and explained 1) the policy against posting confidential memos and 2) their standards of conduct. My guess is this was a knee-jerk reaction. While it is terrible he is out of a job in a strange city, he is better off not working at this place. They sound like a hellhole.
