Is it?  Who knows what voodoo you do.

Or did you mean that a foul ball fracturing a foot is sort of ridiculous?  Because I agree about that.

@samhexum

Considering the use of Nicknames

I understand when you use them.

Respectfully it is quite confusing when you have a player use them, with Vero Evidence the player  ever used them

The capacity of the Field of Dreams is about 8000. Given the MLB and TV personnel, even fewer fans will get to see the game. So the opportunity for locals to see the game is indeed rare. First, you have to be able to afford the tickets!

From NBC Sports:

With a capacity of 8,000 at the Dyersville, Iowa, venue, the all-in price of the cheapest available ticket to see the Chicago Cubs face the Cincinnati Reds is $644 on TickPick, which is a no-fee secondary ticket marketplace.

That $644 figure is around $30 less than what it would cost if you wanted to attend every remaining Cubs and Reds home game this season, according to TickPick.

Meanwhile, the most expensive single Field of Dreams Game ticket currently available is $2,281. There's also a set of two tickets on sale for a staggering $4,582 each. The largest purchase made on TickPick was for a set of three tickets at $1,056 a pop, totaling $3,168.

TickPick says the average purchase price for Field of Dreams Game tickets is $967. For comparison, the average purchase price this season for a ticket to a Cubs home game is $62 and to a Reds home game is $39.

The average ticket purchase price is actually considerably down from last year's inaugural Field of Dreams Game, which had an average of $1,237.

Lots of rich folks at this game!

Strange things happen when you're married to a supermodel, I guess.

Justin Upton (nee Verlander) threw 6 hitless innings last night with no walks.  He didn't hit anybody, and no errors were committed behind him.  He pitched to one batter over the minimum.  How?  On one of his 10 Ks he threw a wild pitch and the batter reached.  They took him out after 6.  His pitch count was 90ish, so coming off TJ surgery and with a postseason they hope extends a long time, they were never going to let him try for the no-hitter.

Waiting in a boarding area at an airport, wearing my NY Yankee cap, a notice flashed on the board:

"Remove all Yankee apparel before boarding."

Clearly it was a prank, but I was too surprised to take a photo. I was there a couple more hours and the sign did not appear again.

Just as he gets set, a flash from the sky explodes down into the middle of the field. Shortstop Ray Chapman feels a surge of electricity go down his leg, and the violence of the lightning strike causes players to dive for the ground.

And 51 weeks later Chapman was hit in the head with a pitch and never got up.

Yankee reliever Greg Weissert had a hilariously hideous debut last night.  Hilarious, because the Yanks led 13-1 at the time.

He's 27, from Long Island, grew up a Mets fan, and is the first Fordham University (Danny Aiello's nephew/ Yankee announcer Michael Kay's alma mater 2ish miles from the stadium) alum to play for the Yanks since 1946.

The first pitch he threw in the big leagues, he hit a batter.  Before he could throw his second pitch, he balked.  Then with his second pitch he hit the next batter.  After getting one out, he walked 2 in a row to force in a run.  Lucas Luetge relieved him & allowed 2 of the 3 inherited runners to score.

Weissert had about 10 friends and family members in attendance who'd flown cross-country to see him, including his college coach.

Hey, but at least now he gets excellent health insurance for life.

And they won't have the adorable one or the favorite for NL MVP.

They won't be paid for the 2 games.

Arenado will lose $384,416, Goldschmidt $241,758.

FOR TWO FUCKING GAMES!  And they won't even notice it.  🤑🤑🤑

Calling a baseball player "the adorable one" especially one who is trying to start a family with his wife is "interesting."

The adorable one is on paternity leave.

A balk??  The HBPs and walks are understandable given it was his major league debut, but a balk ... hooooooboy.  As disastrous as his first outing was, I still hope the poor guy gets a second chance

Good for him.

Guess who got the win with 2 scoreless innings last night.  16 of 21 pitches were strikes.

Guess who's tied for the lead in winning percentage among all MLB pitchers (minimum 2 decisions).

Ugh, the Braves have finally caught the Mets after being in sole possession of first place of the NL East pretty much all year! No one in the lineup is doing much hitting and that bullpen has been so unreliable outside of Diaz all year too. They were lucky to have been on top as long as they were.
