Does anyone use Rentmen messenger?

Have you tried to disable contact by instant messenger?

 

There does not appear to be any means to opt out of using the RM Messenger feature.

 

I'm honestly just flabbergasted that such an easy process that virtually all other apps have mastered (sending push notifications) is actually impossible for this app. If it could do that reliably, I'd have very few complaints. As it stands, I'm frustrated every time I see that green chat bubble light up with numbers under it. Yet more people I need to shepherd away from the IM feature.

There is a way to do it: go to privacy settings, click disable instant messenger. It’s where you can remove your phone number, disable emails, disable map, etc.

 

I have personally kept my IM feature, but I have what someone called “boilerplate” response, with a nice hello, my rates, and instructions to text. In auto reply function on Rentmen.

 

It’s fucking AMAZING how many mother fuckers never bother to text, or will continue to chat with my auto-message (and as a disclaimer I even say, AUTO REPLY” at the beginning of the message) that I never read until 3-4 days later, because I don’t have time for that shit.

 

I’m debating to get rid of all the fucking shit that just continues to annoy me, and detract from the overal sex work experience: RentMen messenger, RentMassuer email, and Adam4Adam. All it does is create an additional way for idiots to waste our time, and something else I have to remember to check. And never really see any profit from it. I’m done.

 

There’s only going to be 1 way to get in touch with me going forward: Text. I already have my templates in place. Anything that requires me to reel people in, is more work than I care for. I sat and replied to about 10 instant messages from the other day, and not 1 responded back or as far as I know...bothered to text the number I included.

 

If I have to constantly stay plugged in, interacting with people sending me messages...I need to be getting paid for that. This ain’t no virtual learning, working from home jive.

 

I used to like it how Men4Rent had it: each email “usually” included a section where the client’s name, phone Number, email, and city they were in we’re required. These dumb asses on Rentmen messenger don’t even know how to properly introduce or address someone. Asking to meet when I have no idea what city they’re in. That’s why I had to create a dummy response so they could.

One of the most frustrating things is when you see the ✔✔ in RM Messenger and don’t get a response. Assuming the best, you follow up with another “Hey, I’m just checking in” and get ✔✔ again, no response. It’s one thing to ghost after a bit of conversation and another simply to not respond.

 

Simply venting...

 

I guess, for me, I just chuck it as part of the business. Here are my assumptions, which could be flat out wrong or spot on:

  • Depending on how far the conversation went (e.g., hours requested, rate, payment method, repeat client), the provider may be looking for other potentially more profitable prospects (e.g., requests for overnight, cash, new client)
  • If you are a repeat, and the provider knows that you guys have good rapport, he may simply be waiting out to get new clients and expand the market.
  • Simply too many things going on...saw the texts, thought he'll respond later or thought he already responded but didn't.

I have been in those waiting situations before, but I guess I have pivoted my behavior to the following:

  • My time is also important. So if a reservation is not booked or am waiting for confirmation from the provider about a booking, then I am welcome to scout for alternative plans in case the original proposed booking falls through. If other providers are more responsive, then the original provider may have just lost business.
  • If he is a repeat provider and you guys have a good time, the next time I meet up, I would try to understand his communication style so I can level set expectations going forward when he is slow to respond. I may be more patient with good, reputable repeat providers (as long as I am aligned with their communication style).

If you have to formally announce that your comments were sarcastic, then you obviously need assistance with the effectiveness of your attempts

at being sarcastic.

@marylander1940 wanted us to talk about RM Messenger here. There’s an aversion on this forum to having multiple threads on the same or similar topics – so much so that some long-time members would have threads that have gone silent after several years (ie. “died”) resurrected than a new one started.
