I find it's even less reliable than the email system, at least within the browser. Unless directly on the page or refreshing the page, it still relies on a email notification to know that you have a message, which can come hours to a whole day later or not at all. Add to that a 25-50 percent crash rate (on my Samsung phone on chrome browser) when trying to even click a message to view it, I'll have to close the page and reopen it.

*In fact, 5 minutes after I typed this go to check, and I have message on messenger from 2 hours ago...page froze trying to open it ?‍♂️

I’ve been waiting for this thread.

I have rentmen messenger but I’m not fond of it. I may delete it.

I think it’s the WRONG solution to the problem they’re trying to fix.

it seems the problem they’re trying to fix is the lag in communication time between clients and escorts. And they want to keep it within their platform because it means more revenue and top of mind awareness for them, even though not ideal for us.

but their email system is terrible. in my experience You get a notification for the first email but not any subsequent ones. Notifications by text used to have a link to the email, but after SESTA/FOSTA they say “to read it go to the site”. If they want communication to happen quicker they should have fixed their buggy email system.

as @MrMattBig said, the messenger isn’t any more reliable either as I’ve missed notifications from there too.

And quite frankly it’s another way for the power imbalance to be abused. A time waster reached out to me asking the same questions he had asked by text on my previous trip to dc. When I asked if it was his number he said no, because he knew what he was doing.

So as I said I probably won’t be using it widely.

Shawn, that helps me understand why I often did not get follow ups to email threads when the provider was 'on line'. I like the supposed privacy of the messenger system, and I've generally been impressed with how frequently I get responses; but I understand the issues now, and will probably stick with text or via the messenger system just asking for the provider's email.

It's strange to me that sometimes it's very difficult to move the conversation off the platform, be it Rent Masseur or Rent Men.

I get that clients may be resistant to texting or emailing or calling due to privacy issues, but I can't imagine an escort or masseur is going to be willing to schedule an appointment without direct contact. Maybe so.

As an IT professional, I find it annoying that these systems do not work better for the users. There is little or no reason both cannot exist, and work well. Email and IM systems are fairly mature, meaning they can be used on sites like this without the difficulties being experienced, even "out of the box". I know, because I've done it - initial and subsequent notifications going out in a timely manner.

The concept of a the chat app seems misguided. Nice if both are on, but if escorts need to keep their second job on the downlow, having an app on their phone is not a good way to do it.

Besides some escorts won't even make an appointment if the guy is using google voice or a texting app... the chances of the guy flaking are way higher.

My resistance to "in site" communications, as opposed to email and text, is simple: I don't view RentMen or RentMasseur every day. I do, however, look at my texts and emails several times a day.

That said, RM messenger and Rent Masseur and Rent Men messaging platforms are just fine for initial contact, presumably many days before the client would like to meet. Additionally, both the client and the escort should be willing to move the conversation off the website quickly. It just makes sense.

And of course it makes sense that the administrators and owners of those sites want us to keep the conversation going through their site as long as possible. More traffic means more visibility and profit.

Plus, their delivery within the system has had a spotty history.

And, more importantly, I don't trust them having all communication at their disposal. Frankly, they don't need it.

I was not aware of this. How would the escort know that you are using a Texting app, and if he does know, why would that bother him?

Not to sound like a spy, but on my phone right now I have 1. 2. let's see 3. 4. 5. jesus christ I have 5 phone numbers and 1. 2. 3. 4. also 5 email addresses. No wait, I have zoom, so 6 phone numbers. and i also have kik and telegram and skype.

Google the number and other ways to find out. Also most texting apps don't allow phone calls.

Thank you. I had no idea other escorts (say they) get burned so often; guess I'm very fortunate.

TextFree is one of my apps. You can use it for phone calls too. I do use GoogleVoice, but for something else, not this.

I’ve actually been toying with the new messenger, and gained a few clients from it so far. I think it does kinda satisfy the “Grindr” urge, in guys. Some guys like to just chat on the messenger platform first. But similar to Grindr, you don’t want to be pissing away time either.

So I try to give it to them, but I been using auto-response to give details, versus getting trapped in a ping pong game of “hi”, “sup”, “available”, “rates”. If they can agree to the auto-reply and converse with a desire to arrange a session, then we can carry on via the app.

I even talked with the webmaster last week about it, they extended the characters in their auto-reply. So they’re working on it, I think it’s innovative...but I keep it short and to the point. Anyone not following directions and keep asking questions, may get blocked.

I'm asking, because I've tried contacting people using Rentmen's new messenger app, but have yet to get anyone to respond to it.

I am not fan of the RM messenger app. I have downloaded it and actively use it to respond to client inquires but you're more likely able to get a hold of us using the old version of messenger. IMO.
