Shit Barebackers Say: ?

1.) “I’m on PreP, so I can bareback all I want.”

2.) “ Because I’m on PreP, I’m protected from HIV; everything else I catch can be cured.”

3.) “Condom users are archaic, old fashioned and judgmental.”

4.) “Oral sex without condoms isn’t “safe”, sex, so you’re not practicing safe sex either...”

5.) My partner (s) is undetectable, so it’s all good.

Definitely most guys are not on PrEP. I always try and get the word out about it when I'm with a new guy. The places that give it out for free usually don't have the advertisement or marketing funds.

People just lie and say they are on PrEP in order to justify ditching condoms, and complete strangers are dumb enough to believe them and literally hand them their bare asses on a platter....

PrEP has certainly changed the rules of the game, condoms are not 100% mandatory like they were before yet as @LivingnLA pointed life always has risks involved in all of our actions.

it breaks my heart to think of so many guys I know who before PrEP played the Russian roulette of BB and got infected with a preventable disease.

People are still playing Russian Roulette:

1.) Barebacking

I use condoms and it's definitely true for me that it's more difficult to stay erect with them. And there's certainly less sensation.

There are condoms out there that don’t affect the “feeling”.... to the point where you’ll look down and wonder if the condom broke, that it feels so good... seriously.

Everyone needs to be aware, PrEP is not for the protection of anyone except the person taking it. I take it every single day. There is no way to even know if someone takes it regularly. I wouldn't depend on the word of a 20 year old who says they are on it and takes it every day. We are all in charge of our own bodies.

One's reasoning could be that daily PrEP prevents HIV (99%). Others are treatable with medicine. So, no reason to use condom if one does not prefer it. As simple as that.

Simple?

Those other diseases aren’t the “sniffles”, or a cold. These are real diseases that can adversely impact organ functions, and trigger other diseases later in life... they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

What brand are those condoms?

I'm on PrEP and prefer bare and don't like condoms. However, I do not have a choice if the other guy says he prefers I wear one.

Skyn is the brand. And pared with the proper lube, you can have a great time ??

I'll give it a try for those rare times I need one. Someone mentioned earlier that escorts might be lying if they said that condoms make them soft. I can be with a very hot guy and have the same thing happen to me when wearing one.

The way I view it is based on what I know to be factual.

1) My own status is obsolete the moment the little blue dot appears in the clinic, and,

2) I know absolutely nothing about anyone else. Any words that come from their lips are not facts.

I consider the facts, inferences and opinions to determine the level of risk I am willing to accept and no one else is responsible for that.

With PrEP and hepatitis A/B inoculations a guy is good to go, except for chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis - which if one tests for regularly can be treated with anti-biotics - with or without a condom. The only completely 'safe' sex, is no sex. I'm not advocating no sex. Just for everyone to be informed of the various risks and what to do about them.

Regularly transmitting STDs, and consistently treating them with antibiotics is not to be taken lightly, and is part of the reason why some STDs develop strains that are more difficult to treat.

I have a friend who has always had a casual attitude towards sex... he loves bare backing, because he’s “allergic” to condoms, and is now on “prep”...he has casually admitted to having quite a few STDs over the years and over the past 10 years, he now suffers from an auto-immune, “condition”, that causes numerous flare ups, and attacks many parts of his

Body... his immune system is permanently weakened.....

I seriously believe that the consistent transmission of STDs over the years played a significant role in his questionable health now.

After a lot of thought over the weekend, where this thread weighed heavily, I've made the decision to end this hobby. I remember very well the first time a provider suggested we go bare, because it was a mindfuck for me. That was November 2014, I had just turned 60 and it had been over 30 years at the time since I'd had anything sexually transmitted (crabs in my case, not sure that even qualifies as a true STD ).

I know there's some back and forth here about whether barebacking is routine now, but based on my experience shopping through ads and hiring its totally normalized, at least in the markets where I explore. Then there's all the data shared here and elsewhere about the rise of STDs beyond HIV and antibiotic resistance. Still wondering if the risks are greater now or my willingness to rationalize condom use as "safe enough" is just less. Anyway, the bottom line for me is that I don't want to go on PrEP, so it does seem irresponsible for me to continue -- for my own health as well as the risks I'd be exposing sex partners to given that I don't take the PrEP precaution.

I'm extremely grateful for this forum, even though I'll probably be using it less. More than just informative, it's been a fun and naughty escape from the daily stresses of work and life! I'll have to take up knitting or scrapbooking now, lol. Anyway, thanks to all.

Do you have any science to back that up, other than your belief?

Can you postulate a mechanism?

I don’t have science to back it up, as I stated that I “seriously believe”.

However, if you believe that consistently transmitting STDs is harmless to the body, then I respect your right to believe that too.

I can see where it could be true, in the opposite way that consistent flu vaccines provide more protection than any single vaccination can provide. There is a cumulative protection over years and years. The opposite effect is logical, cumulative erosion of health, from constant exposure to STIs. Not saying I have any 'proof' of that, just that it does have a logic behind it.

Crabs aka public lice are considered a sexually transmitted infection. They like coarse hair. They can be found anywhere on the body except in head hair. Manscaping that removes all body hair greatly reduces any chance of catching public lice since the only hair on such a body that would be attractive to them would be facial hair.

I understand where you're coming from, but I would argue established professional escorts are safer than general hookups because they are generally better educated and more serious about their health than the typical hookup. If you consistently and correctly use condoms and get tested regularly, you should be well protected. Adding PrEP would be good for those who bottom/receive/catch, especially for anal sex, but you must be consistent on your daily dose. It's basically a back-up in case a condom breaks. Generic PrEP is finally coming to the USA, so cost should drop significantly. Also, having your vaccines is smart, especially Hep A/B and HPV (though the HPV vaccine is only recommended now for under 45).

  • 1 year later...

This thread would be more appropriately named Life or Death.

If negative and on PrEP, how's that?

And if those with HIV are on meds, even better. They medically cannot pass the virus... Period.

People need to educate themselves before making antiquated proclamations.

There was a statistic somewhere that men with HIV are 30 to 40% more likely to get cancer because of their compromised immune systems. This applies even if they're on meds and are undetectable.

If you're going to post something like this, please cite and link a study. Otherwise, it's just fear-mongering.

I've read studies that mention HIV+ people having a slightly greater risk of cancers, but HAART and cAART therapies have greatly reduced those percentages.

https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/infectious-agents/hiv-fact-sheet#do-people-infected-with-human-immunodeficiency-virus-hiv-have-an-increased-risk-of-cancer

Bottom line, what does this have to do with this thread? If on PrEP or otherwise medicated, this remains a safer sex practice.

I've always used condoms, even with boyfriends we've always used one so I'm used to it by now. Even though my ad says safe only I still get messaged by tons of guys asking me to breed them and for raw, I politely decline even if Im losing tons of clients bc of it. Just as the original poster says he's seen an upswing in escorts who do bare Ive noticed a surge in clients who do bare as well. I always carry small, medium and large size condoms and lube so theirs no excuse! :D

Hi Quiet Storm. Might like to meet you. You sound like a good guy but there was no permission to PM you... Can you send me the link to your ad? Thanks.
