To answer the title in the thread...can it? Yes. But in my experiences I'd lean more towards that it is. And I find it intensified in the gay community, one where inclusivity is preached a lot.

And sadly this is usually the breakdown every time, it's the norm now.

I consider myself a mixed race person of color. I am not Asian, so I was perplexed that he would share those feelings. Was this supposed to make me feel special or something?
The more I reflect, I wish I had said more in the moment. Maybe correcting his approach to his business rather than making it about color, but I can’t help but think it might have made things worse.

I appreciate that. I’m worried now that this dose of realism in what is supposed to be a fantasy space has killed the magic.
Even I forget sometimes that it is a workplace for them after all.

I was at a stripper event recently and approached a good-looking dancer. After some small talk, I took him up on a couple of lapdances to test the waters, and it turns out that the waters were pretty fantastic. It was made clear that the menu would expand considerably for a private dance.
We returned to the floor for a drink. I had decided that I was going to take him up on on the offer for the champagne room. But, apparently two lapdances is all he needed to get comfortable philosophically as well as physically.
Without a lot of preamble or prompting, he made it clear that he generally doesn’t give dances to people of color but asians are okay. Honestly, I was too shocked to ask why and his views on race sounded pretty toxic.
I have such a strong aversion to racism that this shut down any chance of me giving him any more money or attention. I decided not to "have it out" with him, I figured it wouldn't do much good anyway so I told him that I forgot about something and bailed.
Not necessarily looking for advice but the experience has stayed with me and I can’t seem to forget it. How would you handle a similar situation?

If this were a vin diagram, I think there would be an overlap between preference and racism. Sure, people may just have a preference for what turns them on but would not otherwise be racist, but for others I think it's one of the same. It sounds like that was the case with the dancer.
I agree you did the right thing to bail. But you could also have said something, even as simple as calmly saying "damn, that's really offensive." I think it's worth calling people out on their bs, but it can be hard in the moment if you are caught by surprise. I mean, who expects someone to say something like that?
But don't let this ruin things for you or wreck the fantasy. There are jerks and there are good guys, so find the guys who are good through and through and stick with them.

What a dick! I think you did the right thing. Personally I would have called him out for it and told him I regretted my interactions with him. Many people get to go through life being actively racist without confrontation. Many people wouldn't change if it did result in a confrontation. But it's always a possibility that something can get through to people. We aren't born racist we are taught it - and we can unlearn it.

It's always been my experience that openly speaking to people in a racist manner is an indication of that person's insecurity.
I have my own "racial preferences" but I don't use them to make people feel bad.
This guy was clearly digging around your emotions to find a crack in the wall to put him in a superior position to manipulate you.
You dodged a bullet. Sounds like a total asshole.

It saddened me to read of your experience.  I agree with @Unicorn, personal preference is one thing but expressing it the way he did it was inappropriate.  Please don’t let one asshole spoil what is usually a great experience.

I've been wanting to go to the Dominican Republic for a long time now. Years ago, there used to be lots of information here in the forum about the country, hotels and guesthouses for gay men and reliable trustworthy tour guides. And information about bars, clubs and escorts not only in the capital Santo Domingo but in other parts of the country. Anybody have any recent relevant information about the DR?  Thanks!

Watching the Stock web feed this weekend, I see Jasper (yes with the huge cock) is dancing there again.  I don't know when he started back there as I don't watch the feed very frequently lately.  Some of you may remember Jasper as a popular Stock dancer pre-COVID.  He then seemed to have spent some of 2021/2022 in South Florida.  I saw him at Johnson's FTL in early 2022 I believe.  He has lost some of his size but still looks good.  He has pretty long hair now and his cock still gets rock hard on-stage😀.
Just thought I'd pass on the info.

Anywhere in Latin America is more risky to lose money by being robbed or scammed by providers but unlikely that you would get hurt or killed.
The advice of being careful with hook up apps is wise. I've used Mileroticos in Colombia with mixed success, target the featured or top of the page ads.
More likely a provider who is more serious about escorting paid more for being in that position. Consider it as a Gold or Platinum ad on RM.
If you still feel tempted to visit Grindr and similar apps, focus only on guys who are able to speak intermediate or advanced English.
That ensures that more likely they are highly educated (not scammers) and have had previous experiences with international clients.
Before meeting, put all valuables in the safe (passport, CCs, money, etc) and regardless of websites or apps, NEVER EVER give them your room number.
Don't drink anything at all while you are with them, it's very easy to put you to sleep with a couple drops in your glass.
Meet them at the lobby or public place to test their English and to verify they are the guys in the ad and if everything Ok, only then go to your room.
If he turns out sketchy or catfish make an excuse (say you'll be back if needed) smile and leave. Later you can send a "sorry" message.

I can't give any info really. A couple of good looking muscular guys. Shortly after I arrived, one walked over to me and said, "Hi, do you want a lap dance?" Huge turn off for me, no introduction, no short conversation, just right to the point. I fully understand that lap dances are how they make the bulk of their money, but any time a dancer greets me like that, I'm not interested at all. I don't recall much dancing while they were on stage either, mainly posing, but again I wasn't interested so wasn't watching. Sorry.
Also, my friend said one of the guys told him they'd be around for 3 weeks, but I was back 2 nights the weekend after & didn't see them.

I have mixed feelings. I think it was helpful to know who is who. Also, based on the time they spent there, the frequency of their posting, and the blatant bitterness, it looks like some poor lonely guys do not have another place to vent their grievances.
Besides, I wonder how we will keep politics out of the conversations. The same homophobia and racism that a few posters bragged about, will show up when we discuss non-political issues. After all, (nonpartisan) politics is everywhere.

I went there a few months ago.  I was there about 7PM mid-week.  It was pretty busy.  They had several dancers, but they were almost clones of each other.  Latin bodybuilders over 6-feet tall. Not a bad look, but they all had the SAME look.  I was put off by the pushiness of a couple of the dancers though.  One (that I was trying to give a "thank you, but no thank you" message to)  practically wrestled to hold me and grope me.  I went there a couple of years ago and the dancers were more diverse.

If I am in any city with a male strip club, I make it a point to patronize the business if only to keep them open and hopefully stir demand for even more.  There are so few as it is.

DruJac reacted to BeamerBikes in How will you pay for escorts in retirement?
Mid 40s, currently working - not hiring much at all these days.  My vices are light gambling and strippers.
At the moment, I joke that best case scenario my iBonds will be used for Whiskey and Whores (as in the Grand Budapest Hotel). My current plan is I will not have a mortgage payment to worry about in a decade.  I max out my 401k and IRA.  In the worse case, the iBonds represent the last resort funds to keep me from eating alpo.
The real question can I push back from full-time work to enjoy quality years in semi-retirement. I'd hate to have saved up all for little real enjoyment. It'll be hard to switch from savings to spending.  My mom's perspective on retirement wealth after her stroke haunt me - what good does this do me now? It can't fix this.   Reminder that you can't take it with you and live while you're healthy too.
