I have a friend who specialize in financial wellness in the LGBTQ community. He is a CPA by training and independent advisor who worked for a large bank for many years before taking this on. He is not currently taking on new clients, but I will ask him if he knows anyone in Cali - he is based in NYC.  Will PM you.

Most people who approach him are in the same position as you - they are doing all the “right things”, but would like someone to cast an experienced eye over their finances and point out what they are missing.

I implore you when you hire a financial advisor to go with a fiduciary advisor. Perhaps this is obvious, but since you say you’re worried about having inappropriate financial products pushed on you, this suggests that you’re not aware of the difference. A fiduciary advisor is required by law to act in your best interest (not their own). And they tend to be less expensive anyway.

I am gen x and in my younger days i used to have negative opinion of gay men who got married to women. When i came out in the 90s to my parents, my own father suggested that I should marry a woman for stability and to follow the societal norms and play with men on the side. The twenty-something me soundly rejected that idea.
Now i think i am more mature and understand breadth and depth of human sexuality and the choices people make to survive. No negativity from me. I hope you find some friends in your area.

I am gen x gay man. I started investing in my early thirties - mostly in ETFs, IRAs etc. My elder brother was my advisor. He is straight and financially savvy. In last 8-9 yrs he stopped advising me as my money grew. I work a tech job and make more than he does.
I have always maxed my 401k contributions and have IRAs.
As a left brained person, I have zero interest in financial matters. I would rather play piano, watch a movie or do something else than doing spreadsheets. If i were straight, I'd be the wife who leaves all money matters to the husband. But I am gay and on my own. I am getting increasingly worried that I am not managing my money well.
Over last 5-6 years i have relied on robot investment advisors like WealthFront and Betterment.
Can someone here recommend a gay friendly financial advisor who understands my situation (unattached financially unsavvy gay man who makes a decent income but is not a superwealthy guy) . I live in Northern California.

I'm right with you. I have seen plenty of anuses in my life, and none that look anything like that, nor do I know (and hope never to) of an anus of that size. That's just typical art pursuing fame by creating controversy.

The controversy is all lost on me.  I guess my imagination needs work.  I'm not seeing anything about it that reminds me of an anus.

I agree with many of the others. It's time for him to find a new profession.
The OP is in his mid-to-late thirties (assuming his stated age is accurate, which often it is not). That's considered old in escort years.  Yeah, I know there are those that prefer "mature" and "seasoned". But that is the exception rather than the rule.
The OP's complaining and whining sends off negative vibes. Those who hire want an uplifting, positive experience for their investment.
He's not making any friends or new clients here with his bitterness, anger, and constant kvetching.
He needs to find something he enjoys doing..  or at least doesn't seem to hate as much as his current chosen occupation.

Jarrod, you have a rather long list of treads that express frustration with your profession, It  is becoming increasingly clear that you need to change to another job/profession.

These far right lunatics are all the same. Trump and Bolsonaro’s handling of COVID was lamentable. Going back further into history was Ronald Reagan’s handling of the AIDS crisis. It took him literally years for him to even mention the issue.

I've been lucky to meet some amazing people through RM. Many have become friends, others have become beloved regulars.
And I also feel the urge to sometimes try out somebody new. This has panned out for the most part but tonight I was robbed by 'CreamyJoel' from RentMen.
When he arrived, I immediately noticed he did not match his photos AT ALL. I calmly asked him to leave and he started to press me for money immediately. I told him his photos didn't match and he became very angry and demanded money.
Despite my survival instincts, I refused on principle. I fled to my room and tried to close the door but he jammed his arm into the door and wouldn't allow my escape. I then called 911. To my surprise, he said he wasn't afraid of the police and that he would assault me if I didn't give in immediately.
This went on for some time before he attempted to take my phone. After some time, he actually did swing and hit me in the face. I paid him $100 on Cashapp and he fled.
I now completely understand the abundance of caution you all take here by consulting reviews and carefully vetted references.
I won't be doing that again,

About a decade ago I cut the cord, cancelled my expensive cable service and joined a streaming TV service that was cheaper.
I tried Sling, YouTube TV, Sony (defunct now), Hulu with Live TV. All had crappy user interfaces that were slow. Eventually all raised their prices and now cost same as cable.
I am not handy enough to climb the rooftop and install a good antenna to get broadcast tv.
But after getting tired of climbing streaming bills, endless ads to forward through, crappy programming,  I finally decided to cancel my streaming TV.
I haven't truly cut the cord. I will still get news etc via regular YouTube and other local TV free apps on my Smart TV.
But for now, it's goodbye to linear TV.

It's not that they haven't tried.  It's just that it probably hasn't sold as well.
Guys don't watch porn to see themselves.  They watch it to watch the unattainable.  The fantasy.
That's what porn is:  A highly unrealistic, hyper-visual, fantasy-driven medium.
This sort of marginalized porn has usually been shoehorned into a fetish category and as much as I'd like to see society evolve, it's not realistic to think it's going to change anytime soon.
The gay community is mega progressive in regards to our rights, but we heavily inner-discriminate if someone doesn't fit within a classic frame of beauty.

I agree.  The problem is when most of these people get into trouble they don't blame themselves, they blame others.  Like the government or their spouses or family that won't bail them out, etc.   Their own frivolous behavior is never the culprit.
