Interestingly, UK ,where I live, is ranked 6th and Canada is 2nd whereas USA doesn't even make the top 20 because of disparity in laws & attitudes between different states.

I would swing by the place before your day of departure just to make sure they aren't strict about spa being for current guests...you might need to check in to the spa before you check out of the room(you get in and out privileges all day on a pass) to make sure you aren't charged the non-guest rate.

This will almost veer off-topic, but I hope it makes y'all chuckle. I had just hung up from chatting with my mom who had all sorts of stuff to tell me about the royal wedding last week. Then I read the question about shopping at IKEA and I was reminded of a true story. I remembered reading about the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla and how, according to the Times of London, many of the invited royals were finding excuses on why they could not accept the invitation. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden responded with regrets, saying she had to cut the ribbon at the opening of an IKEA store!

happyguy2 reacted to EZEtoGRU in Long Weekend in Montreal....Stock/Campus
I was in Montreal last weekend for a long-ish stay from Thursday to Tuesday. Nice to be past the worst of the winter in Montreal. It was still cool/cold whilst I was there but there was no snow/rain which was nice.

I started off at Stock on Thursday night just after midnight. I did a quick canvass of the place and saw very little that interested me in terms of dancers. Since the night was already late (I had a late flight arrival), I decided to walk over to campus to see what was happening there....I was happy I did. Campus had 4-5 solid looking musc/masc guys dancing. It was a surprisingly good lineup for a slow cold Thursday night. I hung out with two guys who I knew that previously danced at Stock two years ago. Had a great time with them and also looking at the substantial eye-candy on the stage. A good time was had by EZEtoGRU at Campus on the Thursday.

I was concerned about Stock for the rest of my long weekend since Thursday there was a disappointment. I quickly learned that I needn't be. Stock had a very solid lineup of guys for the rest of my stay Friday till Sunday. I had a great time all three nights and didn't at all feel the need to wander over to Campus again. I spent time with lots of hot guys. The notable one's were Franco, Tyson, Justin, Kobe, Mike, Kevin, Morgan, and Jo. So many men....so little time. So much fun. So much alcohol. It was worth it.

I stayed an extra day in Montreal to go to the Red Wings vs Canadiens game at the Bell Centre on the Monday night. That was a blast! I went with three "friends" from Stock. Boy was I the thorn between three roses. LOL.

I like to take the guess work out of the equation. Whether I'm in Ft Lauderdale or Montreal, my M.O. is the same. I show the time on my iPhone before we go in. I quote a $ figure and a time we'll be done. Have never been told no. The asterisk to this is since LeBoy copied all the other failed clubs and charged crazy $ for the house and the cashier wants a cut... I've stopped doing private dances at the club and just hire for later if I'm that into a guy (rarely happens lately). But counting songs when you'd rather be focused on other things is tedious and distracting. This way you don't have to deal with the shady guys who try to add a song or two to your tab.

Yeah the internet is doing to clubs what Amazon is doing to retail. If you're a dancer, would you rather post an ad and pick the hours you want to work or sit night after night in a smoky bar you have to pay a house fee to dance in, trying to flirt with guys 3 times your age in hopes you can get a decent cut from all the money the clubs take IF you can get them to do a private dance? For us customers, clubs will always be better than going online, but for the guys working, seems the cream of the crop use technology, leaving the B-team forced to work the clubs.

I was a big Johnny's fan and LeBoy was great when they launched. But then Sean started copying the business model of all those clubs that went out of business by jacking up the rates for private dances. I used to spend so much money at Johnny's on alcohol (both for dancers and myself), cover charges, parking, a private dance or two each night... now I'll have a drink or two and tip the dancers a little. I think I've done 2 private dances since the rate structure changed a couple years ago. If I really like a guy there, I'll propose a meeting offsite. But I miss having fun at the club. I usually dropped about $100-200 a night. Now it's maybe $20-40. And I rarely leave glad I went. My trips there have been cut in half at least. I miss Johnny's. It was trashy, but fun.

It was interesting to me you think Johnsons leans toward twinks because to me it's the opposite. But that's probably because I'm into them and you're not. That's why it's gotta be tough for the guy running that club to try to please everyone. The handful of younger guys they do have have been in the scene for years and that's kind of a buzz kill when I see them. I always looked forward to seeing new guys after a few months away.

Sounds like the internet has been the cause of a downturn in all of the scenes... Fort Lauderdale, Montreal... even Prague which you mentioned. I LOVED Prague when I first went about 10 years ago, but I was hearing from people even then that Prague's best days had already passed. I still have loads of fun in Montreal, but that might be because it's a once a year thing. Florida is easier to travel to. I'm hoping to get back to Prague in the next year or so. Prague and Berlin guys are right up my alley!

Surprised there isn't more discussion of the 3 FLL strip clubs. Boardwalk, leBoy and Johnson's.

The guys aren't nude while they dance but all Florida bars have private booths for the "lapdances"...ie It's between you, the dancer and Ben Franklin.

Many porn stars slide through Broadwalk and the strippers are a combination of muscled South Americans and muscled East Europeans. It's large and usually packed as it has 75 cent drinks Tuesday night and all-you-can-drink for $25 Weds. The outdoor cafe out front has pretty good food. Inside it's pretty tacky and dirty except weirdly for the bathroom which is upscale and has a valet with colonges etc. Boardwalk gets extremely crowded on weekends and porn stars filter through. Private with Ryan Rose? done that.

leBoy is the old Johnny's in a new very nice location. Much smaller than Boardwalk. Ditto the penises. Still tends toward young-looking twinks but there are now a few decent guys. The oddest thing about leBoy is the prices are on the wall when you go into the curtained private area. How much for how long broken down into how much goes to the stripper and how much to the club and how much to tax. There is a guy standing outside the curtained area but he bothers no one. Last time I was there he was the nicest one there.

Johnson's just opened on Wilton Blvd. recently and is still trying to figure out what it is. The location is prime gayness. The interior done in a nice semi-industrial mode with curtained off privates. The guys vary from very nice to not-hot. The guys aren't giving up the $ they make at Boardwalk to work here.

I guess there should also be a thread on the Bourbon St. Pub in Key West. It's good and is built into the Orleans gay hotel where much porn is filmed in the pool.

Miami.......not so much. The joke is that Miami is where you stop for gas between Wilton Manors and Duval Street.

Thank you, that is very well said.

And to those of us who point the finger at Mr. Levine - isn't seeking sexual favors from young men something we all do? We seek them out, discuss them, hire them. How consensual is it really, in many cases? With the exception of career escorts, how many young men are out there, struggling to make ends meet, accepting to provide certain services for money or other benefits? How often are these encounters coerced? We are not that different from Mr. Levine. So let us not be hypocrites.

I make an exception, of course, for acts involving minors. Those are inexcusable.

It is difficult to make unerring generalizations about how any individual teenage male reacts to this kind of situation. I was technically a minor (17) when I first started to have sex with men, and it was always with adults, mostly in their 20s or 30s, but sometimes a lot older. A few were men who had palpable power, including celebrity. Sometimes I felt coerced or forced into doing things I didn't want to do sexually. But I never perceived it as abuse, merely an education in the ways of the world. Other youths obviously react differently, and some are damaged psychologically by the experience. Many years later, it is hard to tell who was scarred by the encounter with Levine, whose current state really reflects previous or subsequent experiences, and who is just being opportunistic at this point.

I have mixed feelings about that. He's been a fixture on the scene for so many years that I kind of miss seeing him at least once a summer. Also -- the dancers who are not part of his favored group feel very neglected when he's around and enjoy hanging out and complaining about him, not to mention being open to negotiation about dances.

Kudos for TR, however, it's the circumstances behind his announcement that concerns me.

According to Hollywood sources, TR was forced out of the closet after an on-set argument between actors Isiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey. Apparently upset that TR, or one of the other cast members was late arriving on the set, Washington's anger got the better of him and he and Patrick Dempsey got into a face to face argument with some saying he put Dempsey in a choke hold while yelling an anti-gay slur about TR.
It all seemed to be downplayed by Dempsey and Washington and although the set was closed down temporarily, everyone apologized afterwards and that seemed the end of it.
However, there are those that are demnading Washington be fired from his job for his angry and physical outburst as well as using the "faggot" word, referring to TR.
One wonders if the "N" word were used at he, or his fellow African-American castmates, would there be more fuss about this situation?

    Go, discuss amongst yourselves....

I don't watch current TV shows so I have no idea who this is but T.R. Knight just came out to People magazine. I think it's great that as more celebrities come out, it's less sensational each time. It was such a big deal with Ellen, but so much has changed in 10 years. Like T.R. says in the interview, "I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me." Very cool.
