When I was looking online (8-9 years ago, before I found my much younger partner) I was surprised at the number of quality guys who contacted me. (Two were escorts looking for a committed, money-led relationship and I respectfully declined). I interviewed/dated some 8-10 guys that I found interesting and desirable before I found my partner. So @FewBricksShy for me, 8-10 was “plenty”. After all, I only wanted 1 man. I have possible answer to this @caliguy: if you’re handsome with a nice, fit body…30; if you’re not goodlooking and fit, you better have charm and be younger than 25😎

A genuine question @Merboy (and I’m not making a political point) - I wonder if you’re concerned at all that gun ownership is higher in the Southern states?

I don’t know where you’re based @Yoyotonodo nor do I know your cultural background. Tipping is a vexed issue on this forum. In the US, tipping is common while in Europe and Australasia, it varies considerably from country to country. In Japan, tipping would be seen as demeaning to the provider. In the US, I was brought up to tip for personal services but NEVER to tip the business owner. It was generally held that the business owner set the price and therefore there was no need to tip (rather as in Japan). The staff working for a business owner would appreciate a tip (or gratuity) and that money went to them to supplement low wages.

I can beat that @BtmBearDad. I was only 31 when a mutual friend confided that a hot young man (22/23) was in lust for me: “he thinks you’re the perfect older man”

That’s the problem of old photos circulating on the internet. He’s 34 now and he was 23-24 and working as a personal trainer when I had a date with him. -
In all seriousness, if you have a few minutes to spare, look at Paul Rudnick on Twitter as @PaulRudnickNY - his musings and observations are delightful.

I enjoyed Paul Rudnick’s comment on this

I suspect he’s very good - you mean “between the sheets”, right @Boink?

I see that just over a week ago they began filming Season 2 of TSITP. Here’s hoping that Jeremiah gets to explore gay sexuality even more in the upcoming season.

In general, I’m all in favour of being direct. I also believe in the excellent aphorism “de mortuis nil nisi bonum”. I once murmured this to an elderly female neighbour on the UES. (She had mentioned a very difficult neighbour of us both shortly after his death). In response to me, she said ‘Well, I’m certainly glad he died young!”

I’m glad you had a great time @Daniel_D Just a small point but perhaps you can add some info to your above post. It’s helpful to include a link to where you found these men, or at least to state their location, as others may be very interested in dating the guys you mentioned.

OMG. Where is the emoji for “shudders in horror”? IF the young Dean Cain had been a ‘method actor’ AND we’d met around the time he was making “Lonely Hearts Club”, I’d happily have shown him the joys of having another man explore his bubble-butt and give incomparable pleasure to his cock and balls.

As can be expected, the NY Post has the best coverage https://nypost.com/2022/07/22/hunky-clark-kent-lookalike-steals-show-at-jan-6-hearings/

When he was young, I thought Dean Cain was heartstoppingly handsome. Your post @samhexum made me Google him for recent pics. Time has not been kind to him. He seems to have piled on the pounds while his acting career was on hiatus.

I know that #8 offered discreet companionship about 10 years ago. I’m not disputing your above statement that he’s Russian but IIRC he claims to be Ukrainian (but that may be due to Russia becoming a pariah state). -
I knew it! 😎 I’ve visited Australia many times over the years. I love the country…but I must say I’ve encountered quite a few Aussies who seem to regard the Kardashians as role-models. (And I’m not talking about ‘cashed-up tradies’ either).

When I was a child, I liked watching that TV show very much. Of course, the characters were newly rich but they didn’t flaunt their wealth. They simply enjoyed their money. They didn’t seek publicity and they didn’t take pleasure in putting down others. Oh @mike carey you and I will have to disagree. How could that posting of a pic of 2 private jets (with that caption “You wanna take mine or yours?”) be considered anything but vulgar? 🤔 Somehow I suspect that old adage of ‘rags to riches to rags, in three generations’ will be proved true with many of the newly rich of the last two decades.
-
Thanks to @samhexum for this thread. It’s the first time I’ve read anything about the Kardashians. They seem to personify the worst traits of the ‘nouveau riche’. There is only one aspect I don’t understand. Both @augustus and @BSR seem sensible. So how can they disagree about this being vulgar?

No, I don’t wish them ill. I’m not so sure that the law has kept up with the many new ways a family may be formed. But I’m sure many of us know of marriages that have broken down or become dysfunctional and acrimonious,…and suddenly people resort to lawyers. I was thinking of the parental rights, and also the grandparental rights, that might lead to some vexed issues of how the related parties remain involved in the child’s life. Rather, in the same way people often have a pre-nuptial agreement, I hope people have discussed what might happen in certain scenarios if things do go awry.
-
Intriguing post @Epigonos It seems to have worked out well, but my concern would be if the same sex marriage ever broke down. I hope they have all signed an agreement on visiting rights, parental rights, finances etc.
-
I can’t advise you @kben but you obviously have good taste in men. Have you considered taking the plunge and being “first” rather than “next”? 😎

A more innocent time @Charlie IIRC the summer of 1976 saw 15 consecutive days with temperatures above 32C (or 90F) in London.

How to get providers to arrive on time
MscleLovr replied to + DrownedBoy's topic in Questions About Hiring
A date may prove expensive but it should certainly be very enjoyable. For it to start off badly is simply wrong. I never had the problem cited by @DrownedBoy but I’m a stickler for punctuality generally. So I admire the suggestion by @Rod Hagen to ask nicely for the companion to be on time…(using the white lie) because I have a visitor/tradesman coming over later. Now if only I could use a similar tactic with a very old friend who meets me for dinner in a restaurant and often arrives 1 hour late… -
In central London, it’s currently 36C (or 97F). Forgive me for feeling smug. When I had the place fully renovated 20 years ago, I insisted on having air conditioning installed. Every English person I know said to me: “You’ll never need it” 😇 That temperature was recorded at Heathrow Airport today, a record 40.2C.
