I took the plunge and met up with him. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience (although he does look like his photos). I cannot recommend him and I won't be repeating.

the very VERY least you could do, for stealing over $1000, is give him the worst one-star review ever on RM. most people dont read companyofmen, but they read and respond accordingly to bad reviews on RM. 
also, in my humble opinion, he isnt worth $100 lol. but to each their own. sorry he stole your money! i dont know if its commonplace to give deposits but i never do it, especially because these guys know we dont have another (legal) recourse if they just bail.

... If you copy and paste it. If you had pasted it in the text rather the title it would have worked as an actual link. That was what the others were saying, not that it wasn't a valid URL.

You know Daddy would be very mad at you right now for breaking the rules about making and other than English language post. My feeling is that he may have forgiven you just this once.

I'm sure there are plenty of clients who show up without showering well in advance, but the same can be said about some providers.  I've had a few that obviously did not freshen up between clients and a couple that were absolutely filthy....and yet still expected me to pay $300+.   I'm not giving the provider a break in these situations.  Sorry.  Soap and water are cheap.  We all have issues.  

I read through all the three pages of this thread. I must be blind or else I need my eyes checked because I never saw a link to the site that is being discussed nor did I see a full name of the site so that I could do a search for the site address.

I cannot even guess how much revenue they would have lost if they had kept that invasive rule for customers of their site.

If the provider is untruthful about his photos (using fake photos) and his physic not being like the photos in the ad, how can he be trusted?  Putting fake photos in an ad is an old trick by dishonest guys.  
The French had an old expression which mildly applies here:
"He who would steal an egg would steal a cow." 
In short, why go with a provider that uses fake photos?

I use the initial phone conversation to rule out a crackhead and/or queen.
When asked to do a phone conversation, most don't.

There are far too many scammers in the business who make money by collecting deposits and never showing up.

No one mentioned one issue with rentmen and texting and phone calls.
To have a client's review accepted and printed in the provider's ad, if a client cannot "prove" that they "met" the provider, and by "proof" rentmen wants to see some communication on the rentmen site that the provider and client actually communicated with one another. 
For rentmen's reasons, a client's review will not be accepted by rentmen unless there is some communication on the rentmen site between the provider and the client.  
I recently had a conversation with a rentmen exec in Germany about another issue.  The exec admitted that the communication requirement on rentmen is not "fool proof" that the provider and client met but there is another reason (too long to go into now) that makes rentmen require at least one "back and forth" chat on the rentmen site between the provider and client.  
So, unless you do not plan to write a review or if the provider does not care about reviews, rentmen communication is not important.   If you or the provider want a review, at least start the communication with a rentmen chat of sorts.   Then you can switch to text or another form of communication.   
I know for a fact that when a provider has a huge number of positive reviews, clients are more likely to hire the provider that has many positive reviews versus a provider with zero or only one or two reviews.
