With that in mind I will say that I haven’t hired anyone who identified as “straight” in years. And my memory is that those scenes were less than satisfactory. But, as many in this community will tell you, your mileage may vary. I wish you well and hope your experience is excellent.

I’m very sorry that happened to you. If it’s any consolation, I experienced a very similar situation, right down to the pretext of the provider answering a text. It’s probably happened to a lot of us.

Dude, you just answered your own question. A LOT of gay men fantasize about being with a “straight” man and a lot of gay men only seek out “straight” men. In my opinion, and in many cases, “straight” is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get business. I am old and way too cynical. That said, check the guy out, vet him well, hire, and have fun. (And, to be fair, a lot of men who enjoy and seek out sex with other men don’t identify as gay. I’m not telling you anything you don’t know.)

I regularly contact RM members directly for info on providers and like @PhileasFogg about 1 in 3 will respond to me. That is, of course, after I research a provider here first. I also receive about 1 inquiry a month asking me about providers whom I have reviewed. I try to keep it light and middle of the road whether it be a positive review or less so.

I had not read that in the forum before, stated like that, and that is excellent info to have. @ajvanguard There's no harm in asking directly; the worst thing they're gonna say is "no" - referring back to @BeamerBikes - you need to be prepared to get the brush off. The one time I asked a dancer directly we were able to negotiate a later visit at my hotel during a lap dance. Dude showed up when promised and gave me a very good time for a fee that I was willing to pay. But he easily could have told me "no". Guess I got lucky. I haven't tried that again since.

Let’s not forget 1980’s Catherine O’Hara on “SCTV”. Like Gilda Radner on “SNL”, Ms O’Hara had the ability to take sub-standard material and make it funny. I don’t mean to ask a stupid question but did you have WiFi? I was recently cruising the Mexican Pacific Coast and as long as I had WiFi the GPS with Grindr worked well. Without it … not so much. Laughably, most of the men looking were on the OTHER ship in port, lol, and the crew members who found me, of course, weren’t going to do anything. I didn’t hook up on MY ship but I can say the app did what it was supposed to do.

@Simon Suraci Damn. I mean, damn. That situation is really bleeping sad. Tragic, almost. I’m so sorry that happened to you and I’m happy that you emerged unscathed. I don’t mean to be either flip or fresh but your situation makes my “bad hire” feel like nothing more than a rainy afternoon at Disneyland in comparison. (Not to veer off-topic but in the interest of full disclosure, I have engaged Simon twice and he provided an outstanding experience both times.)

That sounds like my very first hire, which was probably 20 years ago. I didn’t know what to do or how to respond. Fortunately that’s only happened once or twice since, and it’s probably happened to a lot of us, and it stinks when it does. In 2025 I also had a provider fall asleep almost immediately after he shot his load. I had to laugh and I let him sleep. He woke up a little more than a half-hour later, asked for a soda, and then fell asleep again. After another 30 minute nap he woke up and asked me to drive him home.

Hands down and without question, CodyWilson, as he’s currently known on RM, and whose current location is shown as Raleigh (NC). He was using a different screenname when I hired him in May 2025. (As near as I can tell he’s changed it several times.) BIG mistake on my part. In pre-meeting messages he agreed to everything I asked and then delivered nothing in person. Within 1 minute of walking through the door of his hotel room I knew he was a phony. His massage skills are non-existent. After 30 mins of a planned 90 minute meeting I ended things and left.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I really don’t give a sh*t about what women want. Or how they rate men. If they want a big d*ck, they are welcome to go find one just like the rest of us. 😀

Renting a car means getting on a shuttle, going to the rental facility, waiting in line and suffering through the up-sell. (Unless you have status; then it might be straight to your car.) Depending upon which terminal and what day of the week a cab or Uber/Lyft might be easier and more time-efficient. (Use the LAX-it lot adjacent to Terminal 1.) Dayuse is also a possibility; there are hundreds and hundreds of hotel rooms at numerous properties just east of Terminal 1, some of which you can almost walk to. My goal is to offer suggestions to maximize your time with a provider. WeHo is not terribly far (in LA distances) from LAX. Remember you gotta get back (traffic!) and get through security. Plan ahead, leave a little room for error or the unexpected, and you’ll have a great time!
