I guess certain diseases are more important to some then others. Right now, as I have to go in an treat patients dying of this disease, they do not think it is nothing. Just as in 1983 when I went in to treat patients with AIDS and people were ignoring it, they did not feel it was nothing though they did think the deniers thought the victims were nothing. They said it only killed gays or it only killed the right people.

Hopefully you will not get this acute disease that so far, does not let the people live until there is a truly successful treatment. We are doing better with the people that are getting very sick. I lucked out the other day. I had been searching for Egg Matzoh, which I enjoy as a snack or light meal, and although it was recently Passover, none could be found anywhere. Yesterday, I found it, and there was tons of it, AND on sale.... I bought 4 boxes and last night enjoyed a delicious sweet Matzoh Brie, with marscopone cheese and raisins and warm compote.....
 

We can't base public policy on once in a century black swan events. Speaking as someone who lives in a large city, I appreciate an efficient subway system because it means I can save the money that I otherwise would have had to spend on a car. After car payments, insurance and gas, you're easily talking at least 10K annually getting sucked out of your bank account just to maintain a depreciating asset. I'd much rather be able to invest that 10K.

For future reference, Santiago has a more forgiving cancellation policy than Inndulge. 14-day cancellation on holidays (including Coachella) and 7 days otherwise. Something to think about for next year.

Just back from a twenty day Caribbean Cruise and am energized to start making the final plans for the Palm Springs Weekend. The menu for the Sunday Pool Event is now finalized so I can start thinking about when and where to buy all the necessary ingredients.

I see nothing wrong with being transparent with finances. I interpreted it similarly. No one at any age should pursue sex with someone who is less than 18 years old. Period. Full stop. However, as we get older and more experienced the bar rises and there is an expectation that we know not to do these things.

I ride BART, MUNI, Caltrain, and Samtrans fairly regularly, and BART by far seems to be in the worst shape. One of my colleagues at work calls it "The Upside Down" which seems sadly appropriate. Maintenance seems to be a continual problem, so it feels run down and dirty, and has a disproportionate share of mentally ill. But I don't feel unsafe on the system, I just find it depressing.
 
Caltrain is the opposite end of the spectrum... though the trains are old, they're clean and each train has two uniformed conductors who continually patrol the cars. The conductors are friendly, and some quite hunky The only time I've felt unsafe is when there are rowdy drunks, since drinking booze is allowed most of the time, but the drunks are more annoying than anything.
