DWnyc got a reaction from + Vegas_Millennial in Slow
Rates seem to be coming down in NYC
Providers seem more proactive trying to convert enquiries to a booking. Seems less “I don’t have time for these basic questions” and more “did I answer everything?”’and “you said you might be interested, just checking” a few days later …

This is the thing referred to, euphemistically, as a "learning experience", to wit: Do not give until you have gotten".

for you maybe - and fine - clients and the market can respond
but you can’t speak for the entire industry
the market doesn’t agree with you and the market usually doesn’t lie
have lost count of how many providers have asked for a deposit, I’ve said no, and they’ve removed that “non negotiable” position either instantly or over time sometimes after a harsh exchange (by when I’m not going to hire them)

Just a word of warning, scammers are very good at giving off good vibes. Sometimes it scares me when the initial reply is “Hey babe, what’s up?”

We’re talking about supply and demand.
If clients stop supplying deposits then the demand for escorts asking for deposits will be gone. 😂

In my opinion, the issue with deposits is that they only benefit the provider, offering no protection to the client. Deposits place all the risk on the client, creating an undesirable unilateral condition.

Indeed.
I look forward to the more material representative opinion you can bring to the discussion instead of us. As well demonstration that your model is acceptable to a necessary (even if not sufficient perhaps) group of clients to make it sustainable for you.

It often doesn't.
What with fear of the law, substances legal and otherwise, discretion that one or both parties requires for whatever reason, not to mention raging hormones or financial necessity / greed, people can sometimes make what may seem like irrational choices.
And that applies to stories and behavior from all sides.

This may be a new popular scam. I experienced a similar situation. The provider asked for a deposit before providing the room number when I was in the hotel lobby. I promptly left.

A real provider seeking a deposit is typically not doing so for money but for leverage if something goes wrong as they see it (or if they are crooked, even if it doesn’t). That’s why you’ll find some saying something like “even just $1” or $10 etc
The scammers will typically focus just on the money and seek to maximize that.

Could be many things including a fake profile if he’s otherwise well known
Rewuesting a deposit when you’re in the building or near isnt so surprising (not asking for it before is however) since the main purpose of the deposit for many asking for it isn’t to safeguard money / protect against no shows - no matter how passionately some try to present it that way

Always takes two to make a market: demand and supply.

I had a situation with another well reviewed provider on RM and on here. We had arranged an outcall a couple of days in advance and re-confirmed the day of. Then a couple of hours before the agreed time, he texts that he wants a deposit. I told him no and if he wanted a deposit he should have told me upfront so I could contact a different provider. That is total BS.

And, my point being that without clients there would be no demand for providers; no demand, no market.

This also holds true for regular providers. Some excel at long-term cons. Remember, they're solely motivated by money. It's always a business transaction; you're essentially renting a fantasy for a set duration.

People in law, management consulting and finance etc typically have code names for clients so if overheard confidentiality remains. They also never speak to clients if running into them publicly. Doctors do the same and will never talk about treatments or discussions in public without invitation.
Hobby rules should be the same.
