I had a massage from Cody today and nothing sensual nor a HE. My first time with him. What gives.

Just had a session at HK. Went without an appointment and ended up with Fin for the first time, quite happily. I'll be back.

Based on your recent posts, I would suggest you stay away from New Yorker. Especially if you like to tip $30. lol

Stamp cards offer an avenue to encourage loyalty and repeat business. Most that I have encountered at spas offer a free 30 min massage, which I'm assuming is usually used by most people during a 60 or 90 min massage. The spa is still getting some money from the massage and the customer feels like they are getting something as a thanks for their continued business. I use mine to get a 90 min massage (i.e. pay for 60 min) and I tip based on the 90 min rate. Maybe I'm naive but I assume that the masseur is being paid the same from the spa for the massage and it's the spa that's taking the hit on the discount. 🤷♂️
And frankly, if you don't want to use it because you perceive that your masseur is being cheated out of their pay, then don't use the card! It's pretty simple.

Thanks for joining the Forum just to rant here twice about Cody for your intro posts. For me, I think coming out and telling you personally that he wasn’t feeling well was an upstanding move. He could have left it to the front desk. And since when does one have to “look or sound” sick to not be well?

Why should this present a problem? If I have enough stamps on my card for a free massage, i don't have to pay the spa for the massage allowing more $$$ towards my tip. The spa should still give the masseur his 1/3 of the spa price since it is the spa's promotion. I'd give the masseur a bigger tip if he takes care of me either way.

I love that HK and 27MS post their schedules. Shangrila sort of does that too, but you have to start the booking process to see names.
I find recommendations on this site and then call/text the spa and ask if they are working on the day I want to go. I may not know what they look like, but I usually have an idea from the recommendation.

SA, I know you mean well, but you are making assumptions that probably don't hold up for many of the guys who work in "spas." First, that they have a space to host clients in NYC, much less in Manhattan. Second, running an online ad requires a credit card or bank account to pay the fee. It's not likely that many of these guys have such a thing. Finally, as has been discussed here many times, some guys may need to stay "under the radar" for immigration reasons, or worse, are beholden to a "handler" of some kind who holds their passport and calls the shots.
Going freelance would be a big step for someone who perhaps is not fluent in English, or confident in being able to negotiate terms with a client. The spas have the space and a more-or-less reliable flow of customers. Yes, the money sucks for them, but it realistically may be the only viable option for many who work in them.

If you are writing a post like this on this message board, you are the one who is naive. I mean really, what's with all the pearl clutching? OMG "it's illegal"!!!🤣

i had an appointment with ricardo at shangrila. perhaps my expectations were too high given the very positive reviews, but my expectations were not met. the massage was completely average, but the real problem is that he hit me up for a tip during the session. i don’t know if these masseurs realize how unrelaxing it is to start calculating tip amounts while receiving a massage and wondering whether the nice tip i had planned to give is sufficient. i understand that’s the masseur’s motivation, but (like so many of us) i want to give a nice tip because i really enjoy the service, not because the masseur wants to negotiate in the middle of the massage. even if i left “happy,” i wasn’t happy. i would not go back to him.
