My guess would be approx. 30-35 for Saturday night dindin, 40 for Sunday pool party (people come and go all afternoon), and 15-20 for Sunday night supper, but Oliver and Epigonos are the go-to statisticians on this question. And some of the attendees are not active on this forum, but are friends of the "family". :)

I’ll be driving in early Thursday from OC, to avoid the horrific evening commute on the 91 east. Will any others be getting in early? Would be fun to share drinks with some of the early arrivals.

David SF usually has a Thursday late afternoon barbecue at his home. It is a fun time with a small group and it may be a way of getting to know a few people and to connect for friday. I believe all are invited so you might consider that. I will be there as will several other posters.

Thanks much. That sounds like a great idea.

I just checked Canyon Club's website and I was surprised to see that there are still rooms available, and at a really decent rate. Round trip airfare is in the $500-700 range.

I'm still trying to talk myself into participating. I need to get out more.

Without a doubt, I've got to be one of the most shy, most socially anxious members of these forums. I lurked for years before I even made an actual account and if I post three times a year, that's a lot.

But last spring, I was so desperately in need of time away from the big ball of stress that is my life, so I took a chance and booked a room at the Canyon Club. I had a better time than I could ever have predicted. I relaxed, I laughed, and I even talked with people with whom I'm actually looking forward to reconnecting this year. Everyone there made having fun effortless and I was (and am) so grateful to them for making me feel so welcome.

If you can make this trip happen for yourself, I truly do not believe you will regret it.

Can someone PM me with the info about what this weekend is about, please?
The weekend is about 4 days long. Members of the forum convene in Palm Springs. Initially it was a party thrown by Oliver to have forum members and escorts come together for a dinner and then a fun pool party. Since then, it has expanded to include those things but several other social events Last year there were about 40 forum members and friends there, of which about 15 were escorts. Men being men, what happens in Palm Springs stays in Palm Springs, although certain aspects of it are heavily commented on here in the forum. Generally it is an opportunity to meet fellow forum members whether that is for the first time or a yearly reunion. It is fun. And to quote the inimitable Miss Dolly Parton:

We get a nice quiet crowd, plain as it can be

It's just a piddly squatin' old time country place

Ain't nothing too high toned

Just lots of good will and maybe one small thrill

But there's nothing dirty going on.

Just as long as everyone is on the up and up:

World’s No 1 bridge player suspended after failing a drugs test

This is crazy. The World Bridge Federation enforces drug testing only because it wants to be in the Olympics, which will never happen. I was in Orlando when Helgamo failed the drug test, but they weren't testing those playing in the senior events (age 60+). Bridgewinners.com has dozens of comments about this.

Well this is fake news as the director of the Norwegian Bridge Federation stated that testosterone is not a performance enhancing drug. Little does she know, my performance has improved since I stated taking testosterone at the bridge table and around and on all other manner of furniture.

My bridge is a little rusty as I went down in a contract of 375 million No Trump.

Just a question, as Game of Thrones will be airing its opening episode of the last season on the Sunday of the Palm Springs weekend, I am looking for someone with whom to watch it. Winter is coming and I need someone to keep me warm.

LOVE ME some Jon Snow!

Well, I hope so, too, but at this moment we are under another day long wind advisory, and my windows are rattling behind me. My dog refuses to go outside longer than it takes to do his business, because the howling of the wind is unnerving to him. So far in 2019 Palm Springs has had as much rain as Portland, OR.
